What were you thinking?

Midwesterners usually go south to misbehave, not to the handicapped stall in a Minneapolis men's room at halftime.

The letters thread is now closed.

Why?

I am vomiting. Next week.

Yep, mskrzy

Just like it seems that some people's agendas lead them to see rape or the possibility of rape literally everywhere they look.

And while you're at it, ciao_bella...

...why don't you cut off your dick and balls and offer them up as a burnt sacrifice on the high altar to the Goddesses Dworkin and MacKinnon? I'm sure the sweet smell of the smoke would be most pleasing to them.

@ciao_bella

Nah, I've never lacked for sex. I've had just about all the sex I've wanted to have over the years. Most of my sex in recent years has been with guys, and you know, there are far fewer hoops to jump through to have a same-sex encounter! And I'd never use roofies, because it's wrong and illegal and creepy. Why would anyone want to have sex with an unconscious, incapacitated partner? There's no fun in that unless you're a sicko.

Oh, and fuzzy navels? You've got to be kidding. Way to date yourself there. What a cheesy, tacky, early 80s drink! I'll bet you still drink sex on the beaches too!

Anyway, get a life. My rage at you wasn't as much as your rage at Keillor as expressed in your first post on this thread. And, BTW, you don't know shit about the incident, so why don't you put a sock in it anyway? The participants didn't think it was rape, the crowd in the mens' room didn't think it was rape, the security guard didn't think it was rape, the police didn't think it was rape, the woman's husband didn't think it was rape, and the media didn't think it was rape, so why the fuck should anyone give a rat's ass about what YOU think? You're just some anonymous Internet dickwad who wasn't there, doesn't know the people involved, and doesn't know any more about what happened there than anyone else who read accounts of the incident in the media. I give far greater weight to the opinions of those who were actually involved, and since none of them have mentioned the word rape, that's good enough for me. Apparently not for you and others who are quick to see some sex offense at every conceivable opportunity, however.

confucius need anger management

Well, I'm sorry to have provoked such a rage with the mere suggestion of the possibility of rape. Sounds like you're the one who needs a white steed to deliver your righteousness. Are you suppressing some remorse about dropping a few roofies in fuzzy navels back in the good ol' days at Zete?

it's handicapped-accessible, not handicapped reserved

I have never been at an event with a crowd where the handicapped stall wasn't treated exactly the same as any other stall. If a person in a wheelchair had been present, I'm sure she would have gone to the front of the line, but with 400 women waiting, no one is going to leave a stall unused. It's a handicapped stall not because it's reserved for the handicapped like a handicapped parking spot, but because it contains enough space for a wheelchair and handrails. Non-handicapped people are allowed to walk up the handicapped access ramp to get into a building, too.

Even in Minnesota, I guarantee the handicapped stall gets used just like any other stall.

What "facts" are everybody talking about?

Nobody on this message thread knows what happened. But despite this, some writers assert with vehemence that all of the "facts" of the case point to a consensual encounter. It seems to me they're seeing what they want to see. One possible way to look at it is this:

The woman is an alcoholic, and she drank too much at the game and wandered off (I have a friend whose wife is an alcoholic, prone to drinking at baseball games, and he watches her like a hawk). She happened upon a man who had been drinking but was less drunk than she, or much more in control than she. He led her into the mens room and convinced her to have sex with him, something she would not have done had she not been in such an impaired state.

Why are so many people so gung-ho to say that it couldn't have been rape? Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't, but it certainly seems possible, given the woman's circumstances. The so-called "facts" are ambiguous and open to interpretation, and it seems like some peoples' agendas won't let them see that.

Perhaps you would care to listen to a true story about two individuals in a bathroom. SHE LED HIM THERE BY HIS TOOL. Or maybe a yarn about my hands down Jimmy Carter's cousin's panties while in a handicapped stall at a marina. We were stone cold sober AND SHE liked it! Consider keeping your tt

@ciao_bella --

"(1) Respond as you would if the woman were your sister or mother or dear friend." -- ciao_bella

Oh, well in THAT case, I'd be rolling on the floor laughing my ass off and splitting my stitches.

"There is a distinct possibility that the incident was a rape.

-- ciao_bella

Yes, of course, you're absolutely right. Who knows what else that sick, twisted, sadistic woman might have done to that poor feller.

Just good old fashioned midwestern practicality

Umm, if you're going to have sex with a stranger in a public restroom, you kinda have to use the handicapped stall; it's the only one with enough room. Not that I've attempted it, or anything - 'cause I'm an uptight Philadelphia type and at sporting events we behave badly in a variety of different, but to a large extent nonsexual, ways - but I have had to use the facilities for their intended purposes with 3 small children accompanying me - and I'll tell you what - it's a little cramped. Not excusing - just explaining...

@WillBFair

Had it been a couple of queers, rest assured that the crowd that gathered to watch would have been hurling insults and invective at the couple rather than cheering them on, and may even have assaulted them, despite the near certainty that at least 30-40% of the "offended" and "horrified" audience would have had pup tents in their jeans from their raging erections. Then again, maybe I should have written "because of the near certainty..."
