I can tell you what else is depressing.
Hours and hours of cornpone music and hokey jokes and hick theology that reinforce nothing but the smug complacency of disconnected midwestern plainspeople, most of whom wouldn't take the trouble to cross the street to gaze at a pink ballerina, nor cultivate the political backbone to keep a George Bush out of office in the first place. Mr. Keillor's "alternative" values are more conventional and soul-deadening than any motorcycle exhaust.
