The Harley Davidson motorcycle as a metaphor for contemporary America: Slow, clumsy, overweight and inefficient. Overpriced, even by the most generous standards.

Loud and flashy, its designers favor appearance over actual performance. Sells itself as being tough, innovative and reliable, when, in reality, it owes its existence to a nostalgia for the past.

Despite the brand's incompetence, both on the track and and on the street, it nonetheless has adherents who are willing to invest themselves fully in a losing cause.
