The Israel rules

America's support of the Gaza attack proves once again that our mythical image of Israel has blinded us to its faults -- a myopia with devastating consequences for both countries.

My dear Xanthro,

I have no problem with Jews. I have a problem with people who practice Nazism, no matter what they call it and no matter who they choose as victims and no matter what their national, ethnic or religious trademarks may be.

I was taught that killing civilians, men, women and children was wrong. You were taught that killing civilians, men, women and children, is right.

Why do you want to make this about Jews, when it is about war and those who wage it? Do you equate Judaism with terror, murder, killing, oppression and war? Watch the ten commmandments - Who is Egypt now?

Free the Palestinians.

Too bad that posters such as Chris Sinnard and Maureen O'Donnell don't seem to realize that using Nazi analogies to try to score points simply undermines any legitimate arguments they might have.

Why? Because you said so?

In fact, the Nazis would probably be quite impressed and envious of Israel's "Public Relations" and Internet Propaganda Troll Army. If only the Nazis had the Internet.

Cease fire

Don't blame Israel for maintaining the blockade during the "cease fire." The Palestinians were hardly blameless. The so-called "cease fire" was merely a decrease in the unprovoked rocket attacks, not a cessation.

The doctor is Dr. Jekyll and Satanic is Mr. Hyde

Thanks to Arthur Conan Doyle we know that characters like this exist. Being a doctor doesn't automatically mean honour and/or integrity. One of the most notorious killers in recent British history has been Dr. Harold Shipman who despatched a large number of elderly patients in Hyde, Greater Manchester, England. It's only now that I've seen the coincidence of Conan Doyle's fictional Mr. Hyde, being in a strange sort of way, connected to an actual medical doctor in Hyde, Dr. Harold Shipman. It's these connections that inform so much of our ideas as, for instance, seeing that the Gaza Ghetto is populated by indigent people who are regarded as inferior by Israelis (AND obviously by Americans) and thus can be subjected to what in the civilised world are being called "war crimes".

My dear McFarland.

As a matter of fact the Nazis did encourage Jews to emmigrate to the colony they had set up for them in Palestine prior to the Holocaust.

SHHHHH! It's a secret.

I guess Chris Sinnard thinks nothing equals Jew Hating

jebldmm, Xanthro. FOUL!

-10 points for using the intellectually dishonest slur of "Jew hating" (i.e. antisemitism). -- Chris Sinnard

After all, if calling Jews "Fucking Pussies" claiming Jews control banking and the media, and that Jews "Suck" because they never help anyone else, and that Jews are racist as a whole ( and I could continue to list more), isn't Jew Hating what is?

Maybe if Something Stinks actually personally murdered a Jew, then made a lamp shade out of the skinned corpse, maybe then Sinnard would think, "You know, maybe he does a Jewish problem" likely followed by, "That lamp shade is a bit tacky, I can't believe he'd actually want a Jewish body part in his home, Ick"

Something Stinks is a Jew Hater, he's made more than half a dozen posts that are filled with nothing but repeats of the same tired old Jew Hating rhetoric that has been around for centuries.

That you defend such filth really own shows where you lie as well.

I am a leftie - and I think other lefties do not know history

The cold hard facts: The Jews DID NOT steal anyone's land. In fact, they do not want Gaza or the West Bank.

1) Arab and Jewish Refugees: in 1948 the Arab refugees were encouraged to leave Israel by Arab leaders promising to purge the land of Jews during the first assaults against Israel. Sixty-eight percent left without ever seeing an Israeli soldier.

2) The Jewish refugees were forced to flee from Arab lands due to Arab brutality, persecution and pogroms. The number of Arab refugees who left Israel in 1948 is estimated to be around 630,000. The number of Jewish refugees from Arab lands is estimated to be the same.

3) Arab refugees were INTENTIONALLY not absorbed or integrated into

the Arab lands to which they fled, despite the vast Arab territory. Out of the WORLD TOTAL

100,000,000 refugees since World War II, theirs is the only refugee group in the world that has never been absorbed or integrated into their own people's lands. Jewish refugees were completely absorbed into Israel, a country no larger than the state of New Jersey .

4) Arab refugees in Israel began identifying themselves as part of a Palestinian people in 1967, two decades after the establishment of the modern State of Israel.

Not because I said so, but because it's intellectually dishonest. If you can't see this fact, I'm surely not going to convince you otherwise.

I will leave you, however, with these questions. What do you think a "proper" response would be from Israel to the rocket attacks? What would you do in their situation? How do you negotiate with an entity aimed wholly at destroying you that hides its operatives, missiles and other weapons in civilian areas? Please answer. I look forward to your response.

No Something Stinks, you have a problem with Jews

I have no problem with Jews.

You've already posted about your problems with Jews, that they haven't personally helped you, or whatever that means. That they are fucking pussies.

Yes, you slipped up and let your Klan hood fall and the true self was reveled, you'd like to unring the bell now, because others have called you out as well.

U.S. financial and technological support for Israel; a very good thing.

To the Amy MD person

Fine - let Israel continue to punish the Palestinians disportionately and let them continue to grab land on the West Bank, and not contemplate making a true place for Palestinians that is something more than a large concentration camp where they can be starved and mistreated at will. Because, after all, European-Americans are not giving back the land we took from the Indians. Ok, fair enough. But, I see no reason why any of my taxes should go to actively helping the Israelis maintain their dominance. If they are truly a superior society, they can do that on their own without our bombs, our war machines or our money. How's that? Explain to me how that would be hypocritical.

-- T. Gray

After reading scores of comments like that, it occurred to me; Israel doesn't need a dime from the U.S. to be able to support a defense force capable of defending itself from the likes of Hizbollah and Hamas. Israel makes some of the best light armor and assault weapons in the world. Hamas ain't much of an army.

What Israel needs U.S. support for, is to defend itself from the likes of Iran and Syria. And OF COURSE I want Israel to be able to defend itself from those outlaw nations. Hell, we'd support Turkey, or Jordan, or Egypt if they were attacked by the Iranians.

(Like everyone, I've seen the bombsight videos of Israeli precision weaponry in action. F-16's, JDAMs, etc. I'm glad that Israel has those weapons, particularly if they come from the U.S., since they reduce collateral damage in fulfilling the mission. I'm glad for the innocent civilians in Gaza who are privately appalled at the horror that Hamas has wrought, that those weapons are targeting Hamas in a precise way that warfare never knew until the U.S. developed it.)
