Sorry I missed your post before now. You asked:

"How would you feel if Hillary Clinton was depicted as wearing bondage leather and holding a riding crop?

Here's the only link I could find on short notice. Tell us what you think of it:

  • Stupid Sexist Salon

You just can't stop the sexism, can you, Kamiya? You're not doing your candidate any favors. At this point, I don't care what her views are, I am so sick of the misogyny in this campaign that I am willing to vote for her just to piss you boys off. Think I'm the only one? We'll see on November 4.

  • Delusions of adequacy

    Good one, Godot

  • So, Gar

Where's the photoshop of Obama as lawn jockey?

You are disgusting. Simply disgusting. And you simply don't know when to shut up, do you?

  • why do you assume this is a political negative

    with female or male voters

  • Oh, and Obama's ascension to the primary WASN'T a cult-like following, I suppose.

    Word.

Let's see, you were all happy with unqualified, do-nothing candidates winning on rhetoric and personality when it served your interests for the primary though.

The obamabots have reached a level of hypocrisy that is truly stunning.

  • Gross

Without knowing the woman, I hate everything about the iconography and discourse of and about Sarah Palin. But the photo and headline on this article is CREEPY.

  • This article made me laugh - Does that make me a bad person?

Seriously though, there were dominatrix articles/picts for Hillary Clinton. And it was a Rolling Stone article that refered to Hillary as "America's Ex-wife", so this article is no more sexist than any of those.

I even think the article hit the nail on the head but I still don't think it will do any good.

Why not? I'll give you two reasons.

    1. "Honey, the pervert vote is important to us". - Dharma and Greg

    2. It really IS sexist and independant women will remember this.

  • mateostgo

I do take issue with articles talking about Palin being an extreamist.

If you want to be taken seriously you have to learn to communicate properly. If you can't even spell it people will wonder if you really have any idea what you're talking about.

  • the picture is totally hilarious and very much on point (ha)

the hysterical reaction illustrates perfectly a good part of the reason we are in the mess we are in.

  • How would you feel if Hillary Clinton was depicted as wearing bondage leather and holding a riding crop

She has been depicted this way ALL THE TIME for the last 15 years!

  • It's Always About Sex...ALWAYS

I remember a statement made by Cokey Roberts on one of the Sunday morning talking head shows back during Monicagate. The topic was Bubba's sex life [of course] and she said, in a "C'mon, guys" tone, that there were three or four professional BSDM Dungeons operating in DC at that very moment.

The three other talking heads [all white males btw] got very quiet and then ignored her statement.

  • *sigh* Community Organizers...

...probably wouldn't be "attacked" so much if their campaigns FIRST didn't go out of their way to be so dismissive towards the work of small town mayors. Funny how people forget who drew first blood on THAT issue.

  • @mateostgo To the uninformed reader of standard english

And it makes perfect sense to me that the soliders over there should be doing gods will when they are obviously doing very dirty, bad things ie Abu Grhaib and torturing people.

It doesn't make sense. Are the Iraq war and oil pipelines the mandate of God, or are they temporal concerns?

And despite the protests of Pat Buchanan to the contray, it's really different from what Lincoln said:

“Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God's side, for God is always right”.

Lincoln was a smart dude. Rather than attempt to, or claim to direct the supreme power in the universe, it might be better to attempt to be guided by it.

  • Not Helpful

This article does not really tell us anything we don't know, and it uses an unhelpful analogy that will just give the Republicans and Fox News more ammunition -- keeping the story about Palin and the media instead of the issues.

I'll have to add this to the list of reasons why I probably won't renew my Salon premium account (along with the pop up ads that I get -- I don't mind ads but don't make me feel like I'm visiting a porn site by throwing up a pop up ad every time I click on a new page).

  • naughty boys who don't obey...

    ...go home unsatisfied.

better watch it gary -- your balls are turning blue.

  • sjb55

Are you just TRYING to give fodder to the right wing - something totally slanderous that they can talk about for days on end?

    Oh, puh-leeze.

Palin could easily prove she never wears anything like that simply by submitting a few home movies for inspection. And we'll be sure to honor any pre-existing licensing rights.

  • I always thought it was Karl Rove that first went after small town mayors

With all due respect again to Governor Kaine, he’s been a governor for three years, he’s been able but undistinguished. I don’t think people could really name a big, important thing that he’s done. He was mayor of the 105th largest city in America. And again, with all due respect to Richmond, Virginia, it’s smaller than Chula Vista, California; Aurora, Colorado; Mesa or Gilbert, Arizona; north Las Vegas or Henderson, Nevada. It’s not a big town. So if he were to pick Governor Kaine, it would be an intensely political choice where he said, `You know what? I’m really not, first and foremost, concerned with, is this person capable of being president of the United States?

  • @godot

You think you're so flipping clever, don't you? You're exactly the kind of 'clever' that's winning votes for McCain - and you're apparently too dumb to know it.

  • Unwilted

I'll have to add this to the list of reasons why I probably won't renew my Salon premium account

    All the neocons say that.

I don't mind ads but don't make me feel like I'm visiting a porn site

Funny you should know about ads on a porn site. Some religious extremist you turned out to be.

  • To chime in

PLEASE take that awful picture down. I'm no Palin fan in the least, but I find the picture incredibly inappropriate, and, yes, sexist. I've always considered Salon better than this sort of thing.
