The dominatrix

Sarah Palin is trying to seduce independent voters. But she comes across like a whip-wielding mistress who wants to discipline a naughty America.

The letters thread is now closed.

Alink to an Alaskan professor

This link spells out Palin's record from an Alaskan's perspective, and it seems relevant to this discussion.

I am reminded of a scene in "The Ref"

Dennis Leary has botched a break-in robbery at a house, been attacked by a dog after having cat urine sprayed on his ski mask before dropping the ski mask and making his escape.

The police are called.

Police Officer #1 - Uh, Lieutenant, I found this mask with a weird smell.

Police Officer #2 (Phil) - We both found it.

Police Chief - [Sniffing] Urine.

Police Officer #1 - Oh, thank God. Phil thought it might be semen.

Police Chief - Phil needs to talk to a therapist.

Personally I think Gary needs to talk to a therapist. This article is special insane and says a lot more about Gary than it does about Sarah Palin, the Republicans, the Democrats or anyone else.

Sean Hannity was right!

Sean Hannity was right when he stated that this is the end of journalism as we know it. Salon.com is becoming The National Inquirer -- except the Inquirer now knows what investigative journalism is about.

Amen

You know what's sexist? The trillions of letters to Salon back in the winter and spring talking of how "polarizing" and "divisive" Hillary was. As if successful politicians by nature aren't both in spades.

You know what's also sexist? How very rarely anyone ever called anyone on this garbage.

And that's one of the things that led to Hillary's defeat. Which will in turn lead to the Dems' defeat in November. And probably to Hillary's defeat in 2012 to The Babe.

As some posters have well pointed out, the left has nothing left but humor. Neither does our country if, no, make that when, McCain and Palin take this next election.

well, that and the leftists stupidity, character flaws including being hopeless gullible and ineducable. they are like mean-spirited ostriches.

for instance all these people posting now were posting in the early primaries just as nastily anti-Hillary as they are anti-Nobama now in a very transparent mission to destroy Hillary.

It was obvious to anyone what the GOP was doing. but the lunatic fringe left bought it hook line and sinker in the usual self-righteous path to self-destruction.

George W. with Lipstick

The Democrats need to attack Palin by appealing to potential voters whether the stirrings they have about Palin being a regular gal , somebody to have beer with, etc. remind them of similar feelings they may have harbored at one time about George W. Bush. . And would they take a chance by repeating the mistake.

He seemed a common sense guy with folksy ways. Didn’t know much about his views. Voters gave him benefit of the doubt. Appeared reassuring. Not threatening. Appeared to have shared values. Yes, Sarah Palin is George W. Bush with Lipstick.

This line of attack is free from charges and distractions of sexism. And it ties the more popular half of Republican ticket to George W. Bush. I call that a win-win

.

Karl Rove reverse Psychology

Karl Rove, I must call you out over writing under this and other pseudonyms.

Excellent strategy, publish trash that irritates middle America and swing voters in swing states to convert them to McCain. But, this is yet another one of your articles that is so ridiculous we know it was not created by a thinking liberal. It is so obviously over the top, meant only to irritate the swing voters and women to convert them to McCain. Yes, we see your strategy is working and it is converting swing voters, but we will end this by calling you out.

Further we know the actual supporters of Obama will really focus on issues and a vision of the future, where Obama will win easily over McCain. Trash like this would only make us look mean and petty.

Karl, we are on to your strategy of writing trash about Palin under various pseudonyms. We will not fall for it any longer. The real Obama supporters focus on the future and our programs.

You're so wrong

This is a sicko article; stop being sexist. It's disgusting. No credible magazine publishes stuff like this.

Issue-minded (Non) Feminists of the world UNITE!

All the complaints about NOT reading this column because of the photo/headline miss an opportunity to go deeper into the minds of America, deeper than even the stances on issues. Gary isn't trying to sexualize Palin in an anti-feminist manner at all. His point is to go deep into America's, primarily the rootin-tootin "Let's Drill!" woohoo crowd who were present at the convention not to hear where anyone stands on an issue, but to hoot & holler like good school kids at a football game on thanksgiving Day.

Why is it wrong or bad to delve into the collective unconscious, primarily of male Republicans that brings this type of behavior to the fore in an exploratory manner looking for the reasons it is so, or possibly so? In life there as many unconscious reasons for behavior as conscious ones. so, at least to me, there is no shame or anything untoward in exploring the topic, even if done so with a touch of humor to make it more palatable to the readers.

dominatrix

Kamiya is going nowhere with this put-down. The choir already has its opinion. Anyone else will go negative on this opinion.

Ms. Mallick?

Gary,

You're either a teenage boy projecting his all-too-typical sexual obsession, or Heather Mallick. Not sure which....

Poor Sick Bas***D!

Your imagery is ridiculous, supposition is stupid and your entire story demonstrates the problem with the left. Since people on the left have deep deviant thoughts and consider this as normal human behavior. They believe that all people think and feel this way. The idea of having standards and moral integrity is so foreign to them they believe it can't be true and that everyone must have the same deep rooted perversions they do.

Whoa! Who Knew There Were So Many Closet Dominatrices?

Whoa there, Mr. Kamiya, as I do believe you've struck a nerve!

Who knew the fires of female resentment and desire to dominate men burned so fiercely? I certainly didn't.

You seem not only to have exposed to the light of day but have ridiculed the unacknowledged dominance fantasies of a sizable portion of Salon's readers, especially those who writhe with primal desire to see a kick-ass woman dealing it out from the highest pinnacle of power on the face of the earth, the Presidency of the United States.

And that would explain, too, the seething resentment (hatred?) of the upstart Obama, who has frustrated Hillary's and their vicarious ascension to that ultimate seat of earthly power.

Issues, schmissues. I'll now wager a dollar to a dildo battery that 90% of Hillary's support was born of the psychic energy of the female tribe supporting one of its own in a symbolic attempt to throw off of the yoke of male oppression, real and imagined.

It will be extremely interesting, to say the least, to see how successfully Palin's candidacy taps this psychic volcano of dominatrix energy.

Thanks for pulling back the curtain, whether you did so advertently or not.
