The best article I have EVER read on Salon.
(I count Glenn Greenwald as blog posts otherwise I couldn't say this).
HAHAHAHAHAH
While I agree that McCain chose Palin as VP for rather nefarious reasons, she and her political programme are reprehensible enough to tear apart without resorting to a two page long misogynistic joke. That kind of thing is what I'd expect from the GOP, not from Salon.
This is what has Kimaya's knickers in such an ugly twist. No wonder he's so damned afraid of Sarah Palin. She just might eat Biden's lunch (and more power to her if she does):

This piece is just sort of silly. I genuinely hate the picture of Sarah in black underwear, though. That does not help Gary's cause.
None of the bad stuff about Sarah is sticking to her. It is more, "what a fundamentalist probably thinks and probably would do," rather than actual specific info.
You are only helping to propel this phonomenal woman into orbit.
She could well turn out to be one of the great forces of the 21st century, a combination of Golda Meir, Indira Ghandi and Margaret Thatcher.
Thank you very much.
Here's the problem...According to the insightful book Women in Power, by political scientist and psychoanalysist, Blema Steinberg, women who have become state leaders--she uses Golda Meir, Margaret Thatcher, Indira Gahndi as examples--do tend to demonstrate more dominating styles of leadership than men. Generally they have to, or they wouldn't get where they are. In an interview I did with Steinberg last year she pointed out, rightly, that it would be inconceivable for a woman with the laid back personality of a George Bush or Ronald Reagan to become a head of state. Only women who work their asses off could even come close.
Is it sexist to point this out? Is it sexist to worry about the history of dominant leadership styles? Both parliamentary cabinets who put Gahndi, and Meir into power, thought they were going to be submissive figureheads whose inexperience would make them needy for counsel and for advice of elder statesmen.
Didn't quite work out that way. Is it sexist to worry about that dynamic. Especially when we're talking about important feminist rights being repealed.
Sorry, but so what if Republicans made bad jokes about Hilary. We should be afraid of a potential dominatrix in power, and we can't allow a fear of hypocrisy to submerge this debate.
I don't agree with a damn thing about Sarah Palin's political and religious ideology, but I sick and tired of you media dogs skewering her every chance you get!
She might come across as "whip-wielding mistress who wants to discipline a naughty America," but atleast she comes across as something! That's more than I can about Obama who after a year we still don't know what he stands for because he speaks like test book (call it the Gore factor!) and never met a group of words strung together than say nothing that he didn't like.
The liberal elites wanted to "turn the page," "break with the past," and a bunch of other platitudes that never addressed the real issues facing Americans. They wanted to "fall in love" and not put forth the best nominee, just the one that would rankle the ire of their ideological opposites. And now they been "bested." And once again, they lose.
Might as well stick Obama on a wind surf board over Hawaii some place and get it over with.
Gary--
You're a disgusting excuse for a human being! I do NOT agree with Palin's policies, particularly her one on abortion that you cite in which she would not make allowances for rape victims. Yet I am enraged that you so graphically detail a scene of forced sexual intercourse that mimics rape in the following excerpt from your column: "You could practically feel the crowd getting a collective woody as Palin bent Obama and the Democrats over, shoved a leather gag in their mouths and flogged them as un-American wimps, appeasers and losers. "Drill, baby, drill!" the chant ecstatically repeated by the GOP faithful during Rudy Giuliani's speech, acquired a distinctly Freudian subtext after Palin spoke. The more Palin drilled the Democrats, the more hotly the base yearned to drill her." No, I could not practically feel the crowd getting a collective woody, nor do I think her "doability" will/should affect the outcome of this race. Further, your exorbitant attention to her "rack" and other parts of her body only fuel the current misogynistic attitude of our culture, further validating rape!!! You make me sick!
Apparently, we can't accept women taking on any high-profile positions that don't fit previously defined stereotypes. Shame on you Mr. Kamiya for putting an accomplished professional and vice presidential candidate into a demeaning sexual stereotype. I have a hard time believing you would write an article about Senator Biden called "The Pimp" or "The John" or something of the sort. Why can't Governor Palin just be what she is ... and not some cheap stereotype? I used to expect better from Salon.
It's almost as if Ed Gein and Jack the Ripper had decided what a jolly idea it would be to write for Salon (such an exquisitely chic name!) However, it seems so unfair that Joe Biden's manly charms are being ignored. To correct this imbalance, it's essential that he must be pictured in a tutu but it's probably advisable to have his legs waxed first so that he looks all smooth and sinewy for the delectation of female readers. A tatoo on one ankle would also be much appreciated - but nothing too obvious or tasteless, of course
He's gone from projecting his political fantasies onto Obama to projecting his sexual fantasies onto Palin.
Meds might help. But it seems unlikely.
I didn't know that Obama supporters could get so ridiculous and create such a ludicrous freak-out piece. If this is meant to be humorous, it totally lacks the subtlety needed to make it so. Truly stomach churning.
