Wow, seriously, some readers here need to stop worrying so much about being perceived as politically incorrect. Do you think the Republicans are worrying about this? I don't think so, and in the end that's how we're going to get beat again-- this isn't a nice game.
News flash-- right wing males ARE titallated by Palin, and they do perceive her much as they would a dominatrix. My father, 70 plus years old, is ridiculously excited about her and sent me that doctored photo of her in the American flag bikini holding the rifle. Not because he was insulted by it, but because he was excited about it, and that picture represented everything he could hope for in a female political candidate. It's disgusting and shallow and stupid, and yes, an insult to women who respect themselves and have worked with integrity and honesty for everything they've got (myself included). But that is how these men think-- they don't respect women for their brains and abilities, they "respect" them for their bodies and their willingness to supplicate themselves to men. This article pokes fun at it, but it also brings the issue to the forefront.
It might make some of us uncomfortable to accept that this mode of thinking exists and is a significant force. But it does and it is. The question is, now, what do we do about it? Play nice, or step up and throw some of our own punches?
Shame on any of you who vote for her especially if you're a women & vote "because you want a women in the White House".

Yes Gary you have read her correct. That is my view also.Gov. Sara Palin 's personality is very similar to those persons who we know so well as careerist.
They use seduction and opportunism to get favors and benefits other staffers are denied, to the annoyance of everyone, while smirking at the whole world.
They will use their sexual charms to seduce themselves into the boardrooms of corporations all over America and the world for that matter. This is not to say THAT women with with sex appeal only offer that and not their personal, and social skills to break the glass ceiling.
But this former beauty queen is as cruel and demanding as any Madame in a high price brothel. She is the kind of pleasure provider that old republican men , corporate and political high rollers secretly higher to make them grovel and wear diapers while she spanks the living daylight out of them.
Politically she is wishy washy on issues. Today one position , tomorrow another on the same issue. Ideologically she is worst than George Bush and Dick Cheney put together. I think you might have shaken about a ton or two of seriously stuck up shit from out of the lower intestines of some of the more anally retentive regulars around here, particularly AKASmith. Good work...you have worked wonders as a natural laxative upon the lamest of the lame.
This is the kind of reporting from the "Liberal" media that put the Hillary supporters off...and it's just the kind of thing to make them defend, if not support Palin. Why can't our liberal countryMEN get that sexism damages everyone? Deeper still that the Dems cannot claim the moral high road on human rights until they get that women are human. Nobody (left or right) would sexually stereotype Obama...it would be called racist to the max.
At the heart of this ridiculous article is the issue that may cost the dems the election unless someone like Obama or Biden steps up and calls it out. Women rail against misogyny and are told we have no sense of humor. We tried to call it out during the Primary and the media called it "whining." Obama wasn't "whining" over the New Yorker cover. Even McCain defended him. Hell, we don't need Karl Rove to orchestrate the democratic defeat, we've got "progressive" male democrats on that path.
I'm a Clinton supporter for Obama, lifetime Democrat, and I have to spend my time defending the human rights of a right-wing ideologue because (once again) the progressive males of my party can't keep it in their pants and keep focused on issues crucial for the survival of the country and the planet.

There's an ugly rumor flying around about Obama and rape-kits. Here's proof to set things straight that Obama actually helped legislate the law that victims of rape *don't* need to pay for their rape kit or overall medical fees out of their own pocket. (Palin, however, didn't seem to agree when she was mayor of Wasilla.) Read on and please go check the info if you would like:
In the state of Illinois, House Bill 1814 (HB1814) amends the Crime Victims Compensation Act. It was passed in 2001. As indicated here, this bill:
Amends the Crime Victims Compensation Act to permit emergency awards; to extend the statute of limitations for filing for compensation from one year to 2 years; and to revise subrogation provisions to require deposits into a special fund for costs related to recovery efforts by the Attorney General. Provides that if the Comptroller offsets a claim, the individual or entity receiving the funds must credit the applicant's or victim's account and may not pursue payment from the applicant or victim for the amount. Amends the Court of Claims Act to permit emergency awards to be approved by the decision of one judge.
According to the University of Chicago, what this means for rape victims, in plain English, is:
"According to the Sexual Assault Emergency Treatment Act, the Illinois Department of Public Aid will reimburse the costs of ER treatment if you do not have public aid or private medical insurance. Under the Illinois Crime Victim’s Compensation Act, if you report the assault to the police within 72 hours of the crime and if you file a claim application within two years of the date of the crime, you can be reimbursed for out-of-pocket medical expenses, loss of earnings, psychological counseling, and loss of support income due to the crime. Reimbursement can be up to $27,000."
