OMG - another male who pretends to know what I think, how I feel and thinks I vote with my vagina (RvW). Get this - I am/was a Democratic Party member for over 40+ years. The DNC & the party threw the best candidate for president under the bus & basically told women we were not needed or wanted - they (precious & his bot followers) said they could win without us - well, have at it boys - gee, needing a little money - too bad, not coming from me or my 'women' friends - & just for the hell of it - I'm voting for McCain/Palin this year because I want to vote for a woman - if 97% of the black community can vote for precious because he is half black, I can vote for a woman because I am 100% woman - get over it -
Why do you find joy in deriding a strong and accomplished woman? Would you mock a man in the same way. Get over your sexism! It's backfiring.
you know their are plenty of actual dominatrixes in this country, right? i hardly think any of them would be offended by this article, they might even like it. How dare you pretend to speak for all American women. You seem to imply all women are the same when you make statements like that.
So, Joan, sexism is only bad if it used against a Democrat? This is pathetic.

These false attacks on both the candidates and their running mates need to stop.
You're a fool. You say you are outraged that someone would accuse you of voting with your vagina and then you state you will vote with your vagina, and in doing so you dig a grave for all of us. Bravo!
then it would be decried as racism, sexism, white American fears of black sexuality, male American fears of strong femininity, conservative American fears of having liberal values thrust upon them by an unapologetically opinionated liberal black woman. But I bet there are plenty of liberal men out there who wouldn't mind being dominated by Michelle, wink! We already know there are plenty of liberal women out there who swoon over her studly black stallion husband, wink!
But because the woman's a white upper-class Republican, it's ok. Yeah that makes sense.
For the love of God, get this garbage off your site.
Are women EVER going to be able to come to terms with the fact that if a woman is ANY kind of attractive (and often if she isn't), it will ALWAYS be about sex, (maybe about other things too but sex will always be a factor, usually a big one).
and I can't stand Palin and think she is a menace to the country. But really, Mr. Kamiya, is giving the Far Right ready-made ammunition absolutely necessary? Aren't you FOR Senator Obama, or were you for him before you were against him?
Take this offending piece of garbage down.

"Yeah, Subodim, no distinction at all, as long as you don't care about men."
I do care about men. If you will permit me to clarify my remarks, what I should have written was this:
"I think it's more likely to be misogynistic than sexist towards women (if there's any distinction)."
It was simply an oversight on my part. I certainly do not believe that misogyny and sexism in general are the same thing. Just as women are subjected to sexism, men are also subjected to sexism. Sexism towards men, that is. I did not mean to imply otherwise, and I apologize for the misunderstanding.
Do you think there's any distinction between misogyny and sexism towards women? Some people don't. You might feel otherwise. I left room for disagreement and didn't argue the point because it didn't seem all that relevant to me. I've tried to make it clear that I respect other people's opinions, even when they're different from my own. I'm actually a very open-minded person, and I'm willing to consider what other people have to say.
There's so many real reasons to dislike Palin; but this headline and photo are offensive and unnecessary. You've just made Salon look bad, was it really worth it?
and is appealing to, and is embraced by the Republican Party, which is sexist. Gary is merely, er, courageously pointing it out to those of you who have your heads in the sand while clicking away at your worry beads.
Yes, he would: men are CONTINUALLY mocked by men AND women (see PUMA above for a good example) in an equivalent way, but most women apparently don't realize, or don't admit, that it is happening.
This article is so wrong on so many levels. It seems to betray more of the author's insecurities than anything about Palin,. I find her abhorrent on a variety of grounds of style and substance, but can we avoid the obvious sexist attacks?
But what really gets me is Kamiya's uncritical repetition of Limbaugh's comparison between John Kerry and Lurch. Yes, Kerry's a tall guy with the kind of angular features typical for that height. I would compare him not to Lurch but to Fred Gwynne, who played Herman Munster. In fact, Gwynne could appear quite dashing when he wasn't made up to look like Herman, or projecting the doltish Muldoon in Car 54. He was a Harvard alumnus and accomplished artist in addition to his acting career. I remember thinking back in 2004 that Kerry really missed an opportunity here.

You're exactly right that Palin creates a good first impression, even for independents - until she opens her mouth. The better you know Sarah, the less attractive she gets.
Which is why it is the task of every sane American to edumacate every Tom, Sally, and swinging Dick about what Sarah is really all about, starting yesterday, and starting with the latest revelation - that she billed the good people of Alaska for staying at home (and not in Juneau, where her job is), and added insult to injury by having them foot the bill for carting around the "first dude" and taking her daughters on shopping trips.
And troopergate. And Bridge to Nowhere. And so on, and so on. Drip, drip, drip.
