The dominatrix

Sarah Palin is trying to seduce independent voters. But she comes across like a whip-wielding mistress who wants to discipline a naughty America.

The letters thread is now closed.

Castrating or Dominating?

"Apparently an assertive woman who is post menopausal must be characterized as castrating, and an assertive woman who is attractive must be sexualized and characterized as a dominatrix."

Poster AKA Smith said this so well, that I just said it again.

Wasn't it the Republican's who railed against being too politically correct!

So this should be just the kind of stuff they lap up. I doubt most Republicans will have any problem with this article. They get fed stuff like this all the time on Fox Spews.

Please stop boosting Palin!

I won't even read this article, not because of its imagery or possible sexism or whatever but because I AM SICK OF SARAH PALIN and I am sick of Salon giving her so much goddamned press. She is not running for president. Please focus on McCain, this is bullshit, and exactly what the Repub strategists wanted the media to do when they pushed Palin on McCain.

So frikkin' stop it. I will stop reading this website if it doesn't.

I'm with Vortex545

I couldn't read it either. I mean, please!! I saw how dishonest it was when you said she thinks America's wars are God's will. I heard her pray that what we do will be God's will. That's way different. That's what people in those religious stratas do--they pray to do God's will. That's actually one of the attractive things about them. It's humble. And the misogyny--I really don't get why someone would think that's a good idea. Geez...!!

Good Old Days of Liberal Male Sexual Problems

"as Palin bent Obama and the Democrats over, shoved a leather gag in their mouths and flogged them"

Well, now we know Kamiya's fantasy. And the reason why sane, decent, consistently anti-racist people are recoiling from this magazine and Obama's campaign. Pretty much a straight line from Norman Mailer's "White Negro" fantasizes of "being the oppressed one" to accusations like this. Fifty years of liberal decline, fueled by self-indulgent sexual projection and obsessive accusations of prejudice by unstable male leadership in what was once a real political movement.

If the candidate doesn't respond to this type of extreme sexual attack on his opponent, it will reflect on him. White female voters -- all voters -- need to think very hard about the implication -- that we are the real sexual predators, the real racists, simply by existing. If you like that type of thing, well, Salon is your reading material. If racism disgusts you, and racism disguised as liberalism doubly disgusts you, there are places on the web where people will treat you with respect regardless of your skin color or differing views on things like issues.

Salon is not one of those places, unfortunately.

*yawn*

Wow, Palin as a dominatrix. Shocking!

Boring! Seriously, what ever message you had about her that was worthwhile is lost it your mental masturbation. Yeah, it's funny, I chuckled, but THIS is your lead story?

Keep making it about her, you twits. Obama is running against McCain, and the drivel coming out here belongs on the cover of US weekly. How about reporting on something of substance for a change?

Written like a liberal pit bull sans lipstick...

It is so unfortunate that Gov.Palin, the only person in the race with executive branch experience, is being examied so closely and written about with grossly inappropriate tones of innuendo, while Senator Biden's decades of expereince go woefully under examined. And so in a classic "dumb things down to the common denominator" -- for the media types writing this trash it comes down to "doability" rather than the things that count most when the pressure to lead bears down on a President - like character. Trouble for the left is that they finally advanced a candidate without a record against which he can be measured. And so even in the face of immense media bias that was so brazenly on display in Denver in support of their candidate, Sen. Obama, as articulate & well educated as he is, is losing ground to a blue collar woman woman who embraced the reigns of a corupt system in order to effect change for the better within and around the communities she lives in. You would think there would be at least one "journalist" with the guts to write about what a truly great American story this is.

As an aside, where is Hillary now when a woman is being held to such a double standard? Wasn't she complaining about bias issues? Where are the woman's groups? Same place they were when President Clinton trashed a women - hiding their high horses and hoping that many would forget the principles they espoused when it was a liberal speaking to them, rather than a conservative. How they can look themselves in the mirror each morning is beyond comprehension. At least Gerry Ferraro, though I would never doubt which level she'll pull in November, stepped up.

In the end, Palin is not politically expedient. So rather than embrace her as a woman and discount her for her politics, the DNC and liberals around the country will allow yet another charater assisination hit squad out in attempt to derail what many Americans hope will be yet another rejection of liberal doctrine as voted on at the national level. Thanks be to God for the wisdom of the Founding Fathers for instituting the elctoral college. It protects us from the lemmings so densely populated in the liberal "thought" centers of New York, LA, Chicago & Boston.

Just Slander or Anti American Trash?

The tough-talking, gun-toting "hockey mom" who believes that America's wars are God's will has fired up social conservatives, restarted the culture wars so beloved of Republicans, and shifted the election from being about issues into a personality contest.

The above statement shows the depth of left wingers hatred for America. All their fears are wrapped up in this prejudicial statement. They hate guns, references to God and our culture in general. Even their own question this out burst of hostilities. Sad how petty and trivial folks can be. Leave my guns alone, let me live as I choose, that's America. So sick of manipulating whiners I can't stand to watch a political ad. And if I'm wrong why else would one bother publishing this trash if it weren't seen as attractive to a broad spectrum?
