The dominatrix

Sarah Palin is trying to seduce independent voters. But she comes across like a whip-wielding mistress who wants to discipline a naughty America.

The letters thread is now closed.

The more this goes on...

...the more support she garners:

This article is sooooo offensive--and I am anti-Palin!

Please take this article down--the image and headline alone are offensive enough--I can't bring myself to read the article.

What are you editors thinking! This is just sexist, putting women who nows how many steps back. Do not sexualize women in order to criticize them.

Note: I am a solid Obama/Biden supporter

I wholeheartedly agree...one can object vociferously to this article and its premise without supporting Palin...it says more about Kamiya's mindset than anything about Palin.

LIBBIES CONTINUE TO SCRAPE THE BOTTOM OF THE BARREL IN DESPARATION

Keep it up libbies!

Now Palin is a dominatrix? What's next? Piper is a hooker?

I've long known that liberals have no shame but do keep it up! Every article like Kamiya's gets the good guys a few thousand more votes!

So, go at her! And wish she were your dominatix.

Sickos!

Tuesday, September 9, 2008 12:39 AM

That was proved long ago...

You know who this article really helps?

Palin.

It is exactly what she needs to claim the liberal blogosphere is sexist.

What on earth is Joan thinking by allowing this to be published?

Shame on you, Joan Walsh!

-- AKA Smith

During the primaries the liberal blogs showed they can be every bit as callous in their misogyny as the right wing.

OK - can we please STFU about Sara Palin?

Especially as she is acting as the perfect smokescreen for McCain. And conservatives have decided they will love her no matter what - much more than they will McCain. Him they're barely tolerating.

So, can we put the attention back on the actual frickin' presidential candidates?

Tuesday, September 9, 2008 12:44 AM

I have been too...

I have always taken Joan Walsh at her word . . . until this.

I am not even an Obama supporter. I am a Cynthia McKinney supporter, but for the first time I am actually wondering if Salon really wants to see Obama win.

Nothing is worth this destructive crap.

-- AKA Smith

I also have backed McKinney, and this makes me want to more...I was leaning back to Obama, but if his side, which has been gender tone-deaf all along, continue garbage like this, I am sticking with Cynthia!

Dems just don't get it...

This is perhaps the most insightful article I've read about Palin and the election so far -- and I'm a raving liberal, feminist, and former dominatrix myself.

The article isn't about Palin, it's about the men who are slobbering over her. If I had a dime for every guy (including liberals) who've mentioned how hot she is... Salon didn't portray Hillary as a dominatrix because there weren't countless men drooling over that particular picture.

This election will not be about issue. McCain's campaign staff has openly stated as much. As long as the Dems persist in wonking on about policy, and failing to fight fire with fire, they will lose...again...as usual.

Maybe Obama's best hope is that women will be jealous of all the attention their men are paying to Palin and vote against the ticket out of spite.

Woefully bad taste

So, Gar

Where's the photoshop of Obama as lawn jockey?

You are disgusting. Simply disgusting. And you simply don't know when to shut up, do you?

-- KateTex

EXACTLY...if something of that nature was posted about Obama, Kamiya and the creator of the picture would be on the street pronto, as they rightfully should be.

Tuesday, September 9, 2008 12:52 AM

So right

I'll be voting and supporting Obama regardless of the crap you publish, but if Obama loses, I'll put part of the blame on the hysterical and offensive response to Palin on the part of the likes of Salon and HuffPo.

Stop making her look better than you, please.

-- bugman

Why is it that liberals feel it is OK to roll around in the pigsty with the Repubs? Sinking to their level to win? Hardly how it's going to get done...it merely makes liberals look like the hypocrites some on the right have claimed we are all along...

Tuesday, September 9, 2008 12:57 AM

Yes, let's do that...

AquariusStar

I guess the Left is going to try to tackle the Palin problem with another set of fresh attacks.

Any time you pubs are ready to discuss the actual issues, just say so and we can move on to Palin's political positions.

-- Godot

The left has ceded the moral high ground they so claim they seem to have a claim on when it resorts to shameless and deeply offensive misogyny like this...

Bad Form

Salon...I'd take this down right now and run an apology. I am an Obama supporter. I read Salon every day. I did NOT read this article. What the f*ck were you thinking?!?!?!?! There are too many legitimate stories to write against her to resort to this sort of article.

It works both ways...

take a hike puritans....

Really... this was funny. Good work Gary. If we can't make humor out of the ridiculous, then what's to laugh at? Palin is ridiculous, regardless of her plumbing. Swipe at her with abandon. She richly deserves it. If you want to sell yourself as a stereotype, then don't be surprised when you're objectified.

-- porsadgai

Then it would be equally funny to some to see Obama as a caricature, such as a lawn jockey or with exaggerated, racist features? Some find Obama as ridiculous as Palin, you know.

This kind of humor serves no purpose, as does pictures of Obama that are racially incendiary.

A truth and a hope

As the article elaborates what I thought the moment I laid eyes on Gov. Palin -- she's hot and can get votes thereby -- I see the article as insightful, up to a point. The rest about the dominatrix and turn-offs is wishful thinking. You want to be turned off? Listen to Obama's stumbling stair-tripping cadences these days. Think of an independent deciding if he wants to listen to that for four years. Obama punched Palin yesterday -- he's running for president, or vice-president? Biden, a decent man, seems so last century. This is less a race for office than an American Idol face-off.

Tuesday, September 9, 2008 01:04 AM

Spot on

Or better yet, go after John McCain. Obama will not win if this turns into a Barack-Sarah popularity contest.

This is where the left blogs make a fatal and dangerous mistake and why Mack's poll numbers are ticking up...the more she is attacked, the more it will galvanize the base and independents for her, the latter being the people Obama needs to win...
