  • The transforming power of peace

Mystic7, thank you for that powerful testimony. I have a neighbor who grew up as a Catholic in Northern Ireland. He says that in just a decade of peace the hatred and bigotry between the communities has already begun to melt away. He says most people there wonder now what it was all about and can't even imagine going back to those days. If Catholics and Protestants from Northern Ireland can find a way to peace I am certain that the Jews and Palastinians can do the same.

  • Apology to the bignose

Sorry I did take you up wrong.

  • mystic7

Banned? Dear me no. They want to give you gold star with views like that.

BTW I've been to Port Elizabeth, lovely lovely place. Are you going to Durban II, it promises to be one orgasmic hatefest of antisemitic noise. Iran is already trying to stop the entry of several human rights organizations that while they largely agree with the Arab positions, happen to be Jewish organized and founded. No no, that wouldn't do at all. Anyway if you go let us know, thanks.

  • pancho

Normally I don't respond to childish personal insults but in your case child, I'll make an exception

The date line on that article is 4 years ago. Why didn't you post the court cases in Israel that followed from that where their legal system (yes I know, a functioning legal system is pretty alien to the arab states) court martialed several soldiers as a result.

Funny how I don't recall any Palestinian jurisprudence that ever prosecuted anyone having to do with terrorist attacks, ever. Oh I guess they were busy with something else that day.

Funny how you didn't include that news snippet of the actual outcomes from that from 4 years ago. Why is that? Oh wait I know - super mysterious Jewish mind control. Of course!!

  • No Problem, pancho

Perhaps I could have been clearer.

Did you think I was a Jew or an Arab?

I wouldn't bother with Robot - You might just as well bang your head against a wall. I knew someone like him once, he almost became a relative. Full of "facts" and figures that add up to nothing. All trees, no forest.

Sugarman can get positively unhinged on this subject.

  • So was that a

"I'm ignorant and prefer to stay that way"?

Or was that "I have nothing to say except my own insults"?

I was wondering what specific things you knew about J-street, specific things they have stated that makes you support them?

  • the 'Blockade'

The head of the Palestinian Authority's gas agency confirmed Tuesday that Hamas gunmen had raided the Palestinian side of the Nahal Oz fuel terminal, stealing at least 60,000 liters of fuel meant for the Gaza power station in order to fill their own vehicles.

The Jerusalem Post reported Sunday that on at least four occasions over the past few weeks, Hamas militiamen confiscated trucks loaded with fuel as they were on their way from Nahal Oz to the city. Eyewitnesses said that the fuel supplies were taken to Hamas-controlled security installations throughout the city.

Today 1.6 million liters of fuel destined for the Palestinian populace have been locked away by the Hamas.

  • Robot on the fritz

You argue with the logic of a child. "Well sure we did this but they do it too" or "mommy they did it first". I don't accept that from my children and its ridiculous from an adult (I am assuming you are an adult). The dreadful abuse of the Palastinian people is apparent from the numbers of deaths I posted earlier. Over 800 Palastinian children killed since 2000. I don't care for Hamas or Iran either but nothing they do changes the fact that Israel behaves in a deplorably immoral way. But you can't defend the behavior of Israel so you just keep trying to change the subject.

  • Amazing

I'm not a Zionist, no big fan of Israel, and have been sympathetic to the Palestinian plight for decades.

Even so, reading all the hyperbole about how Israel is violent and immoral and all that are wearing me out.

Yep, it's true, Israelis kill more Palestinians than Palestinians kill Israelis.

It doesn't really follow from that fact that Israel is the party to condemn. There have been plenty of diplomatic mistakes made on the part of the Israeli PMs over the years, and plenty of hardline militarism, and lest we forget the irony of Rabin's murder.

All well and good. Both sides have pissed on each other a great deal.

Do folks really think that if the IDF stopped responding to rocket attacks from Gaza/Lebanon, they would just stop?

It's amazing that reading posts from folks I likely agree with would be so tiresome and frustrating. Keep some perspective, everybody.

  • nothing of the sort

I laid out a chronology. If facts don't matter to you, then say "Facts don't matter to me". You'd be in good company, the antizionist historian Ilan Pappe says the same thing, literally "Facts have less a bearing on my work than ideology."

I don't have a problem with that. I don't even care if you disregard such things like the fact that a quarter of the Jewish population of the Jewish quarter of Jerusalem was killed in the 1948 war and the other 3/4ths were kicked out. Or that 300 Jews were murdered in the 1929 Hevron pogrom and the several thousand were thrown out and that when the families came back to Hevron in the 90's they were literally reclaiming property that used to be theirs (be that as it may, the Jewish town of "Hevron" is actually Kiryat Arba which is about 15km outside of town far and away from any Arabs, plunked down on empty land).

See, I'm not all that interested in whether you're a hater or not. To you it's 'Jews out Peace in!!!' push them in the oceans and when they're all gone worldwide peace will breakout for ever. That's fine if you believe that. Again, I don't really care either way. You will get your Jew-Free Palestine ethnically cleansed of the Jew menace and it won't matter either way, you'll find some way to blame the Jews for something.

Did you ever see that movie "True Believer" when the young man points out to his skinhead neonazi buddies "If there was no Holocaust then why is Hitler such a great man?" Yeah it's kind of like that. I don't expect to change your mind, I don't worry about it either way. Belief systems like yours are counter rational, unperturbed by fact, reality or reason.
