The hysteria over Obama's former pastor's attacks on America shows we're still in thrall to knee-jerk patriotism.
  • Bankrupt

Osama Bin Laden's plan was not just to kill Americans but to bankrupt America by keeping us in a protracted war. Bin Laden and Bush were in a game of chess.

Bin laden wanted to draw us into Afganistan where he believes he could beat us in the mountains and drain us economically. Bush tried to counter by going into Iraq with a false WMD claim and seize the oil to pay for the war. Cheney and Rumsfield thought we could fight this war on the cheap and not put more troops to secure the peace.

Their plans went sour when the civil war broke out and now Bin Laden has America in check. Our economy is on the verge of going bust. Our troops are extended to the point of exhustion, America is divided and some people have the nerve to get upset over a preacher in the pulpit.

We have much bigger issues. Obama was trying to focus on the bigger picture but the media and those that play on the politics of fear knew that America is always distracted on the race issue. Afhganistan is the major importer of cocaine and we are arguing over a preacher who said the same thing as a former mililtary man said about our foreign policy. A policy tht was formed back in the 90's by a group of people that were determined to get their hands on that oil. Cheney when interviewed last week when told that 2/3 of the American people were against the war replied "so."

He and Bush could care less about the American people and some are on this site have the nerve to care about Rev. Wright's patriotism! Rev. Wright did not get us into a war. Rev. Wright did not give tax cuts to the rich. Rev. Wright did not give us No Child Left Behind, high gas prices, and bad press and relationships around the world. 'Get a gripe people! Rev. Wright unlike many of you and Bush and Cheney fought for this country.
