Obama's Failure, etc.

Obama's team has, so far, failed miserably--they've failed in selling their candidate; they've failed to brand McCain; they've failed to deflect the most rediculous of talking points from the GOP side.

If you can't sell Obama in this incredibly favorable political environment, you simply can't sell. Period. Get out, and find a career you might actually be good at.

At this rate, if Obama does win (as expected)--he will win in spite of his team. Not because of them, but in spite of them.

Regarding Todd, peel the shit away from his input here and there is a valid point, imo.

and finally,

GG: That would actually be the best, come to think of it, that's one of the best reasons to rout [ROOT] for Obama, is so that one doesn't have to be subjected a primary war for another eight years.

AMEN--SIGN ME UP.

THANK YOU PETER GREY

@Pedinska - O/T

Could you re-post the contact information for GC? I'd like to send him a card, but can't find your original post.

Thanks!

Obama

[i]If you can't sell Obama in this incredibly favorable political environment, you simply can't sell. Period. Get out, and find a career you might actually be good at.

I actually think Obama's team are simply playing to his strengths. Obama gives every indication that the thing that interests him the most in the world is himself - he's written two books on the subject, and seems determined to win by involving America in the fascination. And it works, clearly.

The whittling away of the personality cult and the vaporous abstractions of his campaign can only hurt him, so I think they are trying, as much as possible, to leave them in place. Let's face it: every time one looks closer at Obama - whether you are on the left and cherish his initial anti-war or FISA positions, or whether you on the right and were initially attracted by someone who claimed to be above racial and class demagoguery - one is bound to be disappointed. I think his campaign have just concluded it would be best to shunt most of that disappointment until after the election. Smart tactic. Up close, Obama the politician is really only fractionally as impressive Obama the myth.

@Andrew Todd:

In your next post you will tell us that Obama's energy policy really does include nothing more than tire inflation, just as John McCain says that it does.

Everybody's a critic. Gimme a break!

Since GG and Digby are waaaaaay too polite to respond appropriately to the "OMFG! She was all, like, 'you know' a hundred times! And Glenn has a voice made for blogging!" contingent, please allow me...

Howzabout all y'all just have a nice big cup of STFU!?

I mean, Fuck off. Seriously.

A new book by the author Ron Suskind claims that the White House ordered the CIA to forge a back-dated, handwritten letter from the head of Iraqi intelligence to Saddam Hussein.

Suskind writes in “The Way of the World,” to be published Tuesday, that the alleged forgery – adamantly denied by the White House – was designed to portray a false link between Hussein’s regime and al Qaeda as a justification for the Iraq war.

The author also claims that the Bush administration had information from a top Iraqi intelligence official “that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq – intelligence they received in plenty of time to stop an invasion.”

The letter’s existence has been reported before, and it had been written about as if it were genuine. It was passed in Baghdad to a reporter for The (London) Sunday Telegraph who wrote about it on the front page of Dec. 14, 2003, under the headline, “Terrorist behind September 11 strike ‘was trained by Saddam.’”

Just some clarification

Having mentioned Digby's overuse of "you know", I also want to point out that there was alot of good insights in the interview. I remember my first interview on the radio, and I made my share of uhms, and ahs, so I hope that my feedback I gave in comments was just something to keep an eye on in the future, not as a slam on Digby for her(?) first radio interview.

Keep up the good blogging Digby.

Well

"In your next post you will tell us that Obama's energy policy really does include nothing more than tire inflation, just as John McCain says that it does."

Well, Obama claimed that tyre inflation would save the same amount of oil as could be extracted from America's untapped oil resources. That's Obama 'thinking on his feet'. Last I heard he was gonna have us off Venezuelan and Saudi Arabian oil in ten years time. Without building any nuclear power stations or any domestic energy expansion.

Not that you'd know any of that to read Glenn's oh-so issue-centric blog.

"Howzabout all y'all just have a nice big cup of STFU!?

I mean, Fuck off. Seriously."

Shut your stupid cakehole, you vile scum.

Tuesday, August 5, 2008 07:08 AM

Well, 'drew

Gratuitous insults tend to put people off. I'm one of those who feels it's perfectly appropriate to respond "forcefully".

And you might want to learn some rudimentary html, so "vile scum" such as myself (did you forget dim-witted?) can more easily recognize they've been quoted.

To Vile Scum

"I'm one of those who feels it's perfectly appropriate to respond "forcefully"."

Me too. That's why I called you a vile scum, in response to your previous profane and sophomoric post.

Now we're even. :)

Tuesday, August 5, 2008 07:22 AM

I'd argue that MY post didn't fall into the "gratuitous" category

But since your "riposte" made me laugh, I'll concede your point.

The RW Talking points, I'm less inclined to forgive/forget.

Oh!, ummm Mona©

Ummm, can you please ummm let me know when Glenn's blog became issue-centric? I've been reading UT for a couple of weeks now and I really didn't think it had to do with mere issues, but rather also ummm the manner and method in which they, like issues you know, were either presented or not presented to the voting populace - in addition to their value or non-value. Oh ummm there have been several Mega Political Issues such as ummm torture and privacy, which Glenn has ummm delved into both repeatedly and thoroughly, but I wasn't aware that this blog was issue, ummm, centric, nor was I aware that Glenn was supposed to kiss the ummm ample arse of the tea and crumpets crowd.

Can you, like, bring me up to speed on this? I'd really ummm like to keep reading here but if it, UT you know, becomes Just Another Political Blog, it might be wise to find a better place to ummm spend my time.

You ummm know what I mean? I'd like to be able to have some ummm fish with my chips.
