performed by two old troupers Glenn Greenwald and London Lad:
Greenwald as Thomas: "And if Holder does appoint a Prosectuor, what will you say then Roper now that the Law is all flat?"
LL as Roper: "The frigging Law would still remain flat Thomas. The king would merely have got the Lord High Ponderiser to appointed such a figure in order to engender false hope in the mob that along with real terror is what your great nation is now built on. But I can assure you Thomas in spite of the theatre involved the Law itself would still remain as flat as Holland itself. And the purpose of torture Thomas would still remain torture."
We, the sovereign People, ought not allow Bush and Cheney a "pass" for their 9/11/false war/torture treason. That, as yet, Bush's father and Cheney's mentor, Nixon, have gotten a "pass" for assassinating John Kennedy and Martin King to send us to die for the pope in Vietnam, is no excuse.
"The first detonation occurred in only the third week of the administration, soon after a Justice lawyer walked into a courtroom in California and argued that a lawsuit, brought by a British detainee who was alleging torture, should have been thrown out on national-security grounds. By invoking the "state secrets" privilege, the lawyer was reaffirming a position staked out by the Bush administration. The move provoked an uproar among liberals and human-rights groups. It also infuriated Obama, who learned about it from the front page of The New York Times. "This is not the way I like to make decisions," he icily told aides, according to two administration officials, who declined to be identified discussing the president's private reactions. White House officials were livid and accused the Justice Department of sandbagging the president. Justice officials countered that they'd notified the White House counsel's office about the position they had planned to take'.
Why don't you never ever listen to me, Glenn?
1) I go off for a bit and ocow threatens me; I guess he intends to fly to Orlando and beat me up. There is some other guy here who wants to do that, but I forget who just know. All I know is that I hope whoever shows up here takes me out, and does not leave me to suffer; that is just common human decency. (and don't torture me with modern pop music either)
2) Ondelette is afraid we will "out him" like L.W.M. used to try to do to everyone, or at least, ondelette claimed he did. If he is afraid of that, he really should not post here as no one is safe from the dedicated cyber-stalker unless you feel that the database at Salon is beyond penetration by those so inclined. (better even than top banks)
3) Chaos theory is the vindication of the world view that the best and brightest can never solve the problems of society in a top-down, hierarchal fashion. There is way too much data, both hidden and non-hidden, and the system is too dynamic for control by committee. My fine friends on the left would be well advised to think of that as they propose draconian solutions to societal problems.
4) I wish everyone would stop with the Math stuff. A fellow who loved Math just died. Robert Strange McNamara, was able to kill millions and leave a land decimated with chemical residue to boot using his "elegant" statistics. I think we do not need another mathematician so deluded that he thinks his theorems are reality instead of only a system that might model reality in some way.
5) Modern physics tells us that the universe is non-Euclidean, so using Euclidean ideas to make fun of other people's intelligence is not advisable. (it is funny however PDA)
6) How many posts will Glenn put up before our resident government huggers get the idea that government itself might be the problem and that getting "better Democrats" does not work any better today than it did in 1968.

FLASHBACK #2….. Remember 2001? Remember the invasion of Afghanistan by the United States? Where was the outcry and crocodile tears in support of that nation then?
There weren’t any…. because the crimes committed by US troops were hidden….. covered up…… LIED ABOUT!
... more at sig ... a great timeline ...
Another blogger who remembers a USA invasion of Afghanistan in 1979. Ondelette, call your office.
There is a great timeline of the 2001 destruction of Afghanistan and a the war crimes we have helped to hide. This is a "must read" if one gives a damn about our involvement in Afghanistan.
By the way, everyone should be reading this blogger anyway. He is Jewish, but maybe the Palestinian's best friend blogging from Israel. I wonder how he stays out of trouble.
Ondelette's point, in oversimplified terms, is that if, legally speaking, the US had invaded Afghanistan, then the President can legally detain P.O.W.s until the war is over, and wouldn't need all these contortions regarding indefinite detainment.
What's the argument for it not being an invasion? Invasion is not a legal term, is it?
History has taught me that they are frequently a whitewashing mechanism to give the appearance of accountability while actually covering up what happened. From the Warren Commission to the 9/11 Commission, what have we learned except that the official story is ALWAYS true.
Holder isn't going to appoint a commission. That's not his job. He is speaking about an Independent Investigation. The Warren Commission and the 9/11 Commission were not investigations. Independent investigations are designed to lead to prosecutions, if warranted, not just to unearth so called information trumped up and soft peddled in order to appease and satisfy or, as the case may be, piss off those who are awaiting facts and prosecutions based on those facts.
I do not have high hopes for and independent investigationWell exactly. The sob will just pull the same stunt as Bush did when he appointed Fitzgerald to investigate the Plame business. Every one will be kept waiting year on year for it all to eventually come to nought and it'll have just been de ja vue all over again.
