@ Ondolette - regarding anonymity, I honestly don't care who anyone is in "real life" in this comment section. I have no desire to disclose people's identities, harm their careers or jeopardize their safety. It's not simply a matter of ethics (and I don't appreciate your accusation that I am unethical just because I noted that if Don P used his real name that he clearly didn't require anonymity), it's also a matter of privacy that I still respect.

I have been the victim of internet harassment and even stalking (both internet and real life) and I wouldn't wish that upon you even if I thought you were an agent provocateur.

However, the reality is when you garner an internet following, whether that be by having a popular blog or by becoming a cult commentor like you have on Salon, you risk the ire of a certain percentage of lurkers/fellow commentors who will resent your expertise, begrudge you your "fans" and try to discredit you. Some of them, and it only takes a couple, may do more. In any given population, I estimate about 25% of them are pure-t nutcases.

Good question Glenn. But put it this way I'm well beyond cynicism about the state of America and so should most people who live there. Its the only healthy position to adopt at this point in time.

You need more focused clout than public pressure to get a proper investigation started. And on that one check back a letter or two of mine. I supplied a link to a break through in the Dr David Kelly case. THAT looks like it'll have to be re opened because of the clout of the doctors calling for it and the heavy weight QC and legals they have working on it..

You seem to be futzy about people being outed but you don't seem to be quite so futzy answering my question. You said that I hounded you for names of people from some un named government agency. That is a false statement. You know where my letters are kept damned well search them and produce evidence of your claim or withdraw your allegation ASAP.

I wasn't aware of that and your explanation helps me better understand the sensitivity. Although I've read Glenn's blog for a long time, I did not start reading the comments with any regularity until the last six months or so (I don't know how long).
