Not really worried about being "outed" as some of you geeks have posted. In fact I stand behind what I said, much as Glenn would expect of anyone who speaks to the media - ie no hiding behind veils or anonymity. Sorry you didn't like to hear my opinion, however the posts that followed auger to the conclusion that the so called debate over Glenn and Blogs is non-existent on this blog. In actual fact I dont think that I said anything that was contraversial, rather offered my own critique of Glenn's blog. Not to worry, neither yourvelves or Glenn has to worry about me again. DP
London Lad is never wrong! Ever. Faced with the fact of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing which contradicted his firm conviction that al Qaeda would never attack American civilians in America, he didn't blink once, but just turned to personal attacks.

Ondelette's point, in oversimplified terms, is that if, legally speaking, the US had invaded Afghanistan, then the President can legally detain P.O.W.s until the war is over, and wouldn't need all these contortions regarding indefinite detainment.
Holder would probably not want to go down as the A-G who let politics get the better of justice. One can hope!
This is about Afghanistan, so maybe you can illuminate my limited exposure to mathematical constructs and explain the possible mass killings of Taliban prisioners by the application of some fractals.
And if there is still a survivor from the previous mathematical postings, let me inform you that the Pythagorean theorem is only a theorem in Euclidian geometry, so unless you qualify it properly I can claim that it is not a theorem.
Try to draw a triangle in a Rimman space and see how well the Pythagorean theorem works.
That will be like insisting that the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. Unless you qualify the geometry of the surface then that can be shown to be false.
To back up Mr. Greenwald stated possibility that Attorney General Holder may decide to do the right thing, let me inform you that using chaos theory, it is impossible to determine the exact behaviour of any specific component of a dynamic system therefore, who knows? Mr. Holder could make the miracle happen.
Isn't this fun! and totally useless.
If after reading this nonsense, you fill compelled to loose your supper please do not tell me. I will feel bad (but unrepented)
SAPS, eh? Who are the saps? (Hint: us?)
Quote:
The exact nature of the program remains a mystery. This official hinted that the secret program involved assassinations overseas but declined to provide further details.
Another intelligence official, who also spoke on the condition that he not be named, said the classified program was known as an SAP, or special access program.
SAPs are intelligence activities that are so secret that even officers with the highest intelligence clearances do not know about them, and their access is reserved for only the most senior officials and officers directly working on the activities.

It was one at Berkeley. I asked a contact with another group to get me another contact to verify. I have to call/email a lot of these groups in the SF Bay Area for things I do. I'll give you the name as soon as I confirm it.
Interesting news about Holder. One ray of light on an otherwise cloudy decade.
This is simply confirmation of what those of us who eschew political parties have known for decades: hypocrisy knows no political boundaries.
blockquote>I just went to yet another human rights group's site, and it was down.
-- ondelette
What's the name of the group?
I just went to yet another human rights group's site, and it was down. I went there because I had tried to contact the director, and the email bounced. In the past two months, I have talked to, or emailed, no less than three such groups which were going belly up because of lack of funds from foundations, from big donors, and from small donors.
I don't guess that's a good thing. Anybody else have that experience? In addition to not being able to bring enough pressure on the political class, some of the people we depend on to do some of the specialist work, go litigate in court, run investigations, etc. seem to be going under.
i bet the odds are two to one that if--and that's a mighty big if--investigations are held, it will most likely be a charade--as occurred with the 9/11 Commission and their clearly fraudulent 9/11 Commission Report.
Every unwanted truth about the united states govt and their corporate accomplices.
This is the standard operating procedure of every police state.
Meanwhile the American people play with themselves, watch fat people sweat like pigs to lose weight on tv, bitch about the red, white and blue dick shoved up their ass everyday (but do nothing), and mind fuck each other over speculation about Michael Jackson.
All is lost .......
The New York Times reports on the front page of its Saturday edition that the Bush Administration impeded at least three federal investigations into alleged war crimes in Afghanistan.
This revelation from Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter James Risen comes after nearly eight years of forensic investigation, documentation and advocacy by Physicians for Human Rights.
In November 2001, as many as 2,000 detainees were allegedly massacred by US-allied Afghan troops led by General Dostum. The dead were buried in a mass grave at Dasht-e-Leili, Afghanistan. US military and intelligence personnel were operating jointly and accepted the surrender of the prisoners jointly with General Dostum's forces in northern Afghanistan.
Please read the story and view PHR’s new online video, War Crimes and the White House: The Bush Administration’s Cover-Up of the Dasht-e-Leili Massacre.
Share these resources with friends and colleagues. And sign our petition calling for Attorney General Eric Holder to let the FBI do its job by proceeding with the war crimes investigation that the Bush administration shut down.
Sincerely,
Frank Donaghue
Chief Executive Officer
P.S. But for PHR, this story could not have been told. Thank you for your generous support, which makes possible PHR’s indispensable work, including the campaign to hold the Bush administration accountable for the torture and mistreatment of detainees in US custody.
P.P.S. US Government officials have already made initial comments on the story. Read PHR's response here.
