Four knowledgeable sources tell NEWSWEEK that he [Holder] is now leaning toward appointing a prosecutor to investigate the Bush administration's brutal interrogation practices, something the president has been reluctant to do.

The Greeley Tribune?

Then, effectively, we're neighbors.

Conservativeslayer

No game of gotcha, you were just wrong.

I read this story today in my local paper, Denver Post, and it was buried in the back of the paper. Face it folks, this isn't going to get much coverage. How convenient that IG report was released on Friday. Basically maximizing it's chances of being completely overlooked.

I granted you that it was released on a weekend, but you were wrong that the media was ignoring it. Getting on the front page of the NYT is not exactly a gravesite. And no, its not irrelevant. News programs often determine their coverage of issues by what's on our national papers of record. Glenn ran a story in this vein about the Pentagon's alliance with television news during the Iraq invasion. That story was on the NYT's front page on a Sunday, which meant that it was particularly egregious that no television news company reported on the story the following week--or ever.

Finally, if Bernbart is owning you in a fair fight, then you're doing something wrong. No offense. As sick as you are of people nitpicking, I'm doubly sick of people not bothering to get their facts straight. ESPECIALLY WHEN I TEND TO AGREE WITH THEM. So much here has been torch-mobbing group think, lately.

@ bystander: Isn't THAT Nice?

You and Conservativeslayer are neighbors?

I'm greeley glad for the both of you!

@ Little Bro - re: Addie

Retzie: I want my $200!

Actually, I gave more than that to Obama's campaign, and I'll never get all the time back I spent helping him get elected in a district that was redder than red.

**sigh**

Democratic president = no blue state outrage = no outrage at all

We have "blue state" America to thank for Obama getting away with these policies with virtually no public outcry. As one listens to their complacent silence, it is revealing to see the vast majority of Democratic voters retreating to the same authoritarianism red-state voters have always held dear. They don't mind Obama detaining without trial because they like him. He has good motives, surely; he won't use his power for evil purposes because he's one of us.

We may have to face the fact that Americans prefer to be ruled by men, not laws. They only become concerned as citizens when the men are not of their party.

re:Democratic president = no blue state outrage = no outrage at all

What you say isn't entirely true. I've already heard more dissent from the left aimed at the Obama administration in just the past 6 months than I heard from the right aimed at Bush over the entire 8 years of his presidency.

Little Brother

The common denominator to all of the above, and an essential component of the confidence trickster's success, is the ability to move from venue to venue and make the appropriate fervent pitch without being hamstrung by fear of what will happen when the fraud finally catches up to the con.

Success depends on arranging things so that a Moment of Truth, or Reckoning, never happens.

Say Little Brother that reminded me of the opening passage of the Dude's latest best seller:

Fear & Loathing in the White House

By Hunter S. Obama

We were 90 miles out of Barstow on the edge of the desert when the collateralised credaphetamine default swap hydrochloride began to kick in. Suddenly there were great Goldman Sachs Bats whooping around the auto blocking out the sun, blocking my eyes and tangling my hair up with all kinds of crap financial paper wings.
My attorney and minder Raahumm woke from his drunken slumber, cracked a Bud and poured it down his naked chest in a futile attempt to cool down.
“Say what the fucks happening Obama?” he yelled trying to make himself heard over the sound of the screaming V12.
I didn’t bother answering him.
We were running flat out on empty, kept going only by a whole heap of stolen hope that came with millions of fluttering little IOUs attached that could all become instantly due the moment I ever took my foot off the gas. We were both only into the first leg of my term in office and had some ways to go before we could ever hope to get this puppy sorted.
In the meantime that son of a bitch would get to see the fucking bats soon enough.

Conservative Slayer

Who said it would be in the paper on Monday? I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you're having a bad morning, and that's what's preventing you from understanding the words I've written here.

Saturday, July 11, 2009 01:56 PM

That's rich omooex

I don't know where you are coming from when you write complete nonsense like, Bernbart owning me in an argument. I've only had one argument with bernbart and that was over Osama being linked to 9/11. I was right, the FBI has publicly they have no hard evidence linking Osama to 9/11. I even provided a link proving my claims. So what are you talking about? Maybe you need to learn read better bud. Otherwise you're just making me laugh.

Saturday, July 11, 2009 02:00 PM

Look, bernbart

MOre comles thatn your simple statement ... If you want the full story read today's NYT they have a entire page devoted to the story.

I'm about at the end of my rope with your gibberish. You spend so much time defending the indefensible, then have the gall to write something like this:

How do your bring the war lords and Taliban into alliance, to treat women with respect, and to build a better future? Very complicated.

Utterly, utterly cowardly. And utter bullshit. What do you care about "treat[ing] women with respect" as a critical issue in Afghanistan, or any other goddamn place on the planet? You don't. You don't give a good goddamn about reality, as long as you're secure in your little Northern California home.

But, yeah, by all means, scribble your nonsense that simultaneously functions as a defense of the Overlords (can't have anything threaten bernbart's comfy existence) while making pathetic little sounds of sympathy for this planet's beaten-up, grounded-down, murdered, raped and tortured to the point of insanity.

What a babbling saint you are. You're such a credit to those ideals that make life worth living.

(apologies to everyone for my screed; this person really pisses me off and I simply cannot stand the inherent contempt she displays for all of us)
