omooex, I believe that was the episode where at the end, they all go to the Australian Embassy to flip off the guard on duty?
Because you know, even if you resolve racist tensions with the fruit vendor, there will always remain the Australians to shit on.
That pair kills me.
y'all (herusomethingstinksinlondonoomondelette) would now please join in:
THE WAY YOU MAKE ME FEEL...
we could have a spectacular finale!
Ooh you have just reminded me of something exiting that happened the other day.
Careful, bathroom humor offends our fair post-intellectually ejaculatory Heru.
what song was that?
--or even, perhaps some antagonism towards the idea that there is a social penalty for saying whatever you want about race, no matter if it is offensive to some.
I didn't write this. So what's this?
It makes no difference to me. Trying to sound like a racist to offend white people that you have, in your infinite wisdom, categorized as sanctimonious sounds to me exactly the same as the other kind of racism you claim to reject. You don't like the fact that the backlash against four hundred years of murderous racism has made certain ways of thinking and speech taboo--well boo-fucking-hoo. This is the tiniest viola in the world playing for the world's oppressed white minority.
please start composing NOW for another set of Michaels greatest hits!-
get Amity and you will beat the African-American-racist-number - I'm full of hope - Like always!

I have to confess that I missed the "inside baseball" part of this, which is odd because I'm usually up on that (after a fashion).
I read somewhere, re:
In the interim, twitters from within the country indicated that rather than being an elite power struggle, there was actually something of a military takeover in progress
that what we're witnessing is the takeover by the military, a coup d'etat, from the religious authorities. I don't know, of course, but that--to me--was the single most interesting thing I've read about this election. I do not know how the internals of Iranian politics work; I don't know, for example, what the relationship is between the Iranian military, the clergy and Ahmadinejad. Many unknowns there, as you know.
Anyway, thanks for your clarification.
Yeah, I know what an analogy is.
As I said, a short declarative sentence would be of value. It's a weekend night in my part of the world and I won't be around for a long back and forth.
Thanks.
I'm certainly not an expert on Iran, but I did find some really good material along these lines...Reza Aslan called it a "slow motion coup" I think as it has been happening over the last few years, as former Revolutionary Guard have been appointed to, or surreptitiously elected to mayoralities and governorships....
Here's Reza Aslan's early piece right after the electoral hub ub

Here's some more info on my blog...scroll down past the video window, there's a really good wonky article from a very middle of the road Middle East Wonkery basically saying the same thing with more details...

Oh, yeah, and omooex wrote a piece indicating that the Iranians are perfectly capable of the agency and free will needed to protest an election without CIA help.
Thanks for that. I, too, am a fan of Reza Aslan (I know you didn't say that, but I do). I think he's not only knowledgeable but, just as importantly (if not more so?), ethical regarding his approach/interpretation about the socio-political goings on in Iran.
About the passage you're referring to:
Yet the brazenness with which this presidential election was stolen by Ahmadinejad’s supporters has caught everyone in Iran, even the clerical establishment, by surprise. Indeed, I am convinced that what we are witnessing in Iran is nothing less than a slow moving military coup against the clerical regime itself, led by Iran’s dreaded Revolutionary Guard, or Pasdaran, as the organization is called in Iran.
What blows my mind is--and I think I referenced it earlier (but I don't know where, and I'm too lazy to find out)--is that Ahmadinejad has spent years moving his people into place (mayors, etc.) while many have stood by silently, mutely, simply observing and, I guess, thinking, "so what"?
Well, now they know "so what."
Thanks again for those links. I hope others who are interested will take a look at them.

Glenn, you know how bad things have gotten? When I read this part of your sentence, I believed it and felt a surge of outrage. Then I looked at it again, and thought, "Wait... he's joking!" That's how bad it's gotten. I did realize you were joking, but it *could* have been true.
It's time to cast an eye towards our 49th state. Did the last campaign season actually end? For those who may have deleted the bookmark (and, they've since moved):

Happy 4th of July to all the denizens of Glenn's threads ... and, to Glenn.
Last time smart arse. Obama is more African than he is American that is a fact of the physical world. He has luo genes that originate in Africa. Now unless his mum has any what you call Native American genes in her he will have no genes in him that originate in America. Apart from them there is otherwise no such thing as American genes. And genes are thicker than nationality as blood is thicker than water. So therefore Obama is more African than he is American. America always was just a dream just an idea, not a race. France & the French are both a dream an idea AND a race. But you lot are just not up to that speed. Now piss off I'm bored.
LOL
French is a race? Is being British a race? How about being Polish? Why have I never heard of the Polish race?
BTW, Didn't you write the following earlier today:
"But I wouldn't say that would I thickie? How many times do I have to tell you the difference between "Nationality" & "Race".The whites and blacks of Zimbabwe share the same NATIONALITY but have different RACIAL genes." --LondonLad
Can't you at least keep your story straight for more than a couple of hours? What you've done here is throw your buddy Heru-ur under the bus after he's actually lied in a failed attempt to save your moronic ass from looking like an idiot.
P.S. To stave off that boredom, try getting a decent dictionary and looking up the definition of the word "race" and then compare it to the word "nationality".
You may be amazed.
