The suppressed fact: Deaths by U.S. torture

The unstated premise of every torture debate -- that it was safely applied to a handful of detainees -- is false

The letters thread is now closed.

Coming from heru-ur and Sinnard

I wonder just why they are so keen to associate with baby-killing war-mongers. Or is this their equivalent of shouting at the TV set?

don't listen to the haters. It's been an interesting day learning more about how everything works. Check out these gems:

There won't be any end to the prison practices in Afghanistan. These anti-war people would pull the troops out and leave the prisons and torture there, totally blissfully unaware that there's anything below the surface. And the pro-war people, everyone here knows they fully approve of the prisons and tortures. And if we pull out and leave? Twenty years will go by, and someone from the West will have cause to go there again. And they'll write cute little stories on antiwar.com about how those prisons are part of their culture, and have been like that for these simple tribal people for thousands of years. I agree, it's racism.

"You really should treat Heru better. He's a peaceful guy at heart" by another idiot

Posted during March 2009, at an anonymous forum on the worldwide web

1.)“heru-ur:

If I were Glenn, I would give folks like me a few warnings not to engage in endless pissing contests and do a month long "time out" if that did not work. Then a total ban the second time.

I find that I have a weakness; ignoring insults.

But, you are correct in that Glenn ain't a gonna do it that way.”

2.)“heru-ur:

You hit the nail on the head. I think Glenn should do a lot more house cleaning. Perhaps I should be the first one banned, but even so; he should clean house once in a while. I have said this to him several times in the open forum — I never e-mail anyone.

I am also getting a tad weary of it, perhaps I should refrain from posting for a while.”

Just not weary enough as far as I'm concerned, and probably many others agree.

If you've got to score your points about the difference between your and you're, its time to admit you've got no point to make. -- omooex

Says the filth with over FIVE THOUSAND comments written in an effort to "score points."

And besides I don't think he actually harbors ill will toward any of you the way I do.

What silly bullshit. I've no doubt a 12 year old girl would kick your ass in a fight, but so fucking what, anyway? Now, you're going to try to intimidate people on the internet? Is your penis really that small?

No. The shift never changes around here. It's the same fucking morons patting each other on the back and attacking those who are correct.

You really should treat Heru better. He's a peaceful guy at heart. And besides I don't think he actually harbors ill will toward any of you the way I do.

your really stupid.

I see what you did there. You're funny.

Wednesday, July 1, 2009 07:07 PM

We need to stop it because it is wrong, and if you want to act like the great LWM and pretend that spending half a trillion a year on worthless war machines isn't a leech on the economy that could be put to more productive uses, and that there is no connection between the central bank, the empire, and inflation, that's fine. You go right ahead and believe that.

Wednesday, July 1, 2009 07:04 PM

Heru

Its not something I can prove, you're right. I will say that the only other conclusion possible is that your really stupid.

Lt. Dan Choi, the officer you may have seen on Rachel Maddow, has just been fired

because of Don't Ask, Don't Tell. He is continuing his fight and taking a petition to Nancy Pelosi. You can sign at sig. if you like.

@ Stupid

a final note

Everyone here already knows this is a lie.

Tax dollars spent on vaccines

that prove effective must be considered a good investment.

However, I do not accept the premise that taxes taken from the poor are the sole source of funding for vaccine research.

In fact, if you check wikipedia on this topic, you will find other sources listed as well.

Yet, if such poor-tax dollars were the only source, I can speak with some authority, since according to your plan, I would pay very little in taxes... and I would not (and do not) begrudge such a expenditure.

Of course, I am not a libertarian.

"It is past my time to go read real scholars."

I doubt you've read a book in years.

Title of the column...

"The suppressed fact: Deaths by U.S. torture"

U.S. <-- that's the United States of America. That is the government of the United States of America. That is the government of the United States of America which is wholly owned by the corporate/military industrial complex.

Now what was that genius Ondelette saying about "stabilizing" Afghanistan? How are we going to do that again? With Wal-Mart or Predator Drones? Both?

Wednesday, July 1, 2009 06:53 PM

a final note to the war mongers

Well, a final note tonight anyway. It is past my time to go read real scholars.

If you support invasions and interventions into the affairs of foreign countries, you will be supporting the building of a large and powerful killing machine that takes food and opportunity away from Americans by its very existence. See Eisenhower for one.

Now, once you have built this killing machine and made the tragic Wilson error you will discovery that the killing machine is used over and over. That is how the machine justifies itself to the paying populace.

Pick sides: there is killing, murder, rape, torture, and so forth or; non-intervention.

You went with the same pick as the Republicans didn't you?

Wednesday, July 1, 2009 06:49 PM

@ Heru

Prove it, slug.

No need. For the peanut gallery, you've already proven it for them. Really, at this point, it's on you to prove otherwise. But, this directly ties into that issue of laziness you asked me to prove. Keep up the good work, Stupid. :)

Wednesday, July 1, 2009 06:49 PM

@calamine

The soldiers whose comrades were killed by roadside bombs can be forgiven not loving their enemies. Some were told to roughly interrogate prisoners and by chance or spite, killed a hundred.

Then what of the contractors and CIA personnel who not only tortured and killed with their own hands, but unlike these soldiers you speak of, actually knew they were doing so to justify an illegal war and that their victims were most probably innocent?

Do laws no longer apply to them?
