The suppressed fact: Deaths by U.S. torture

The unstated premise of every torture debate -- that it was safely applied to a handful of detainees -- is false

You want to tax the poor to pay for your line of work. You claimed I was a hypocrite if I was ever vaccinated to not want to pay for American Medicine by being taxed at over 60% of what little I earn.

Now you claim you were highly insulted at #%^#$%@ and are having the vapors.

You want an all powerful government to enforce your vision. Trouble is, it will enforce the vision of the rulers and not you.

omooex; you look even more like a hypocritical idiot now than you did before.

With every post you make; and after all those days when you went all "high tone" and such.

Blah!

Mohammed Daud was the brother of the king, he deposed him and became President, which was basically the beginning of all the changes and wars and Soviet invasions and all the other stuff.

Blimey all that? There I was thinking all she was responsible for was a regularly crap column in the New York Times.

"speckled eggs" -- LondonLad

One expert on special education (back in the late 80s) had a term for the kids that were "high risk", "special ed", and were wired differently. The learning disabled. Many educational experts have called groups of these children various names, but "speckled eggs" was my favorite.

She explained that she was referring to the eggs you would see in a nest and every once in a while there was one that was speckled.

It means "short bus" people, but is more gentle.

Note: ondelette took a vicious shot at the dyslectic upon learning of the SC decision in the fire fighters case, so let us dispense with the pretense that I am insulting the learning disabled.

Now that was one of you best.

"short bus" people

Thanks very much for the first serious belly aching laugh of the day. Who'd have thought you could so clearly define a group of people by the length of the bus they rode? And that the definition would work just as well on this side of the Atlantic.

As for "speckled eggs" we call them "speshuls" otherwise known as the "window lickers." But this is very very naughty of us. I happen to know of a couple of such people and more sweeter and delightful people it would be hard to meet. Were that more others with fully functioning skull meat as sweet the quality of life around this godforsaken planet would be much improved.

Yeah well he's like one of those dodgy old catholic priests who like the strong stuffing it to the weak as long as it appears under the aegis of "helping them." He'd have travelled willingly with Cortes mumbling from the bible and fumbling furiously under his cassock as Incas fell to the sword by the skip load.

In fact come to think of it, fresh from fight club training, the full spectrum Muscle Marine Mary Dominance Assault going on in Helmand right now must be giving him woodies something awful as he shoots yards of jissum all over the full length mirror of his wardrobe.

"oh moo, your increasingly fine slicing-and-dicing of semantics and technical parsing of words like 'occupation' and 'invasion' start to resemble neo (nazi) con (artiste) dissembling more than anything else... and ye shall know them by the kompany they keep..."

These people don't even know who they're criticizing or for what reason, because they don't actually read anyone's comments. Its like the ritual view of media--where the content is secondary to the ACT!

Sigh, all you like Adnoto

You're busted.

Are you serious? You are seriously nuts. You have made this up in your mind and now, having been corrected on your error, you still won't give it up. That is insane. I think you might want to write your daddy and ask him how he took it because, no matter how your fevered retard brain took it, it was what it was and I meant what I meant.

Fucking quack.

we call them "speshuls"

Thanks, I'll try to remember that one. I might just get away with it at work, as we have no Brits at present to call me on using it.

Adnoto

You have made this up in your mind and now, having been corrected on your error, you still won't give it up.

Nope, you didn't correct it. In fact, you only reinforced my impression that at any given time you don't know what you're talking about, nor do you care. Leaving Froomkin out of this for the moment, you didn't reconcile your obviously 180 degree turn glorifying investigative journalists--

how would the people have ever found out about the illegal spying if it weren't for investigative journalism? Or the lies about Iraq. That is their function. They are our watchdogs

The eavesdropping story was broken by the New York Times' Eric Lichtblau, who has worked for the NYT for 7 years running. The NYT delayed the story until AFTER the 2004 election. In fact, the "establishment" NYT had total control over how and when the story was leaked, not the journalist. You may never have heard about it at all if it wasn't for the "establishment" NYT. They utterly failed in their watchdog role--the public should have known about eavesdropping before the election obviously, and it may have completely changed the outcome of that contest. Eric Lichtblau kept working for them anyway. And in fact, we know of the eavesdropping through both their efforts, despite the fact that they fucked up the delivery so perfectly.

I don't write this to excoriate the NYT. I read it every day. I have been critiquing the paper at my blog and at magazine's like FAIR's magazine, Extra! for years; I wouldn't know what I was talking about unless I READ this establishment crap.

I write this to highlight that most of the time your phony enraged and sanctimonious bluster hides a man who doesn't know what he's talking about, but only feels a vague sense of rage at what's going on and wants to blame those closest to his own views. That's fine. We all feel the rage. Some of us feel it so much that we bother to keep up with what's going on, and to hone our opinions so that they make sense. The alternative is to be like you-- arguing passionately against something one moment, and then for it the next.

And the reason I do this is because I find your fake rage intensely irritating. I often really don’t disagree with what you’re saying, and I often say the same things. But wake up; you actually MAKE ME WISH I didn’t agree with you, because it makes me fear I sound like a complete douchebag too.
