Obama's civil liberties speech

As usual, Obama effectively defended various ideals while advocating policies that contradict them

2 Things

1) Obama is a tremendous speaker. The best I've seen in national politics during my adult lifetime, without contest.
However, Glenn is quite correct: he is normalizing un-American, unconstitutional practices when he slips in allusions to them in a speech like this one.

2) we should counter every stupid argument of you galls and guys - just with the words of Obama - but I told them Glenn would be mighty mad at me - and I don't want to lose his love! -- pieceofcake

I suspect that, like berbart, you have the notion that if you play the role of Jerk in a sufficiently feminine and flighty tone, you are automatically absolved of the guilt of being a jerk. But, that's not actually the case.
You have spent the past few hours spamming Glenn's comments section with gushing, hagiographic Obama-worshipping porn. In order to belittle commenters who are trying to make legitimate critiques of his actions, as contrasted with his fancy words. That is an asshole stunt worthy of contempt -- even more contempt than you've been (implicitly) dishing out to the rest of Glenn's readers.

Your obvious contempt for your fellow man is even more grotesque than your fashionable Obama-cultism. But, it is the latter that best illustrates the trend towards moral relativism on the "left" in regards to those principles the left used to stand firm on. That's a trend Obama is encouraging at present. There is no reason for me to make it easy for him to do so.
