And anyone who spends any time writing a blog, or anything else for that matters, should consider it a good thing when their work is used, with or without credit.
I'm struck by your attitude regarding proper citations and references, Glenn.
Do remember that most bloggers are struggling economically as much as they are struggling to get the truth out to the public. A link to a proper and earned reference from even a local TV news website, much less the New York Times, means a great deal of new traffic to the blogger’s website.
New traffic means hits to links, which means the blogger can make money doing what they are doing, while still paying the bills. FireDogLake, who you’re citing in your article, is trying to raise money just so Marcy Wheeler can continue doing the groundbreaking work that she is doing, full-time.
It’s important to note that Dowd’s correction in the Times does NOT include a link to Josh Marshall’s site OR his original paragraph.
Proper credit matters, not just morally and ethically, but ecomomically. Feel free to link to my blog, by the way.
