It's truly remarkable that the sympathy Greenwald invariably mobilizes around "Palestinian victims" never seems to get extended to the many Israeli(and other worldwide)victims of Islamic fundamentalist terrorism.Or the 400,000 or so murdered in the Sudan. Or the innumerable other civilian victims of wars everywhere.
Permit me to cite this from Greenwald:
This objection ("why are you complaining about Israel but not the rebels in Sri Lanka?") rests on the same fallacy as the accusation that American citizens are being "anti-American" when they criticize the actions of their own government more than the actions of other governments ("Why are you complaining that Bush waterboards when North Korea starves its citizens to death and Iran stones gay people?"). Citizens bear a particular responsibility to object to unjust actions which their own Government engages in or enables.
So, you see, the issue here is the responsibility Americans have (via funding and weapons sales) with respect to Israel.
You conclude: this guy badly needs help for some very deep pathologic anti-Semitism--it's as simple as that.
If you choose to ignore the focus, well, that's a decision for you to make. It's pretty pathetic, though, to fall back on the old "My God, he's either anti-semitic or--worse!--a self-hating Jew!"
At any time, you're free to comment on the issue at hand.
We're waiting to be educated.

The Bible's Buried Secrets
Episode Number: 3516
This two-hour special breaks exciting new ground in investigating the origins of the ancient Israelites, the evolution of their belief in one God and the creation of the Bible. For the first time, more than a century of literary detective work and decades of archeological excavation in the Holy Land will challenge viewers with provocative new insights, including that most Israelites worshiped pagan gods and many believed that God had a wife, who was venerated as an idol. A story of science, history and faith, The Bible's Buried Secrets" will leave a lasting impact on viewers and become the definitive documentary on the Bible for generations to come. Anyone who hasn't seen this, it's well worth seeing. In the evidence it uncovers lies perhaps the greatest irony of all time.

it would also be interesting to know the relative rates of media coverage for those conflicts
[Baldie (allegedly) egging on Hamas]: Show us evidence that we have taken the above position---not negative evidence of a position not taken.
[Sh**ter]: Here's a good one from Glenn where he takes a definition of terrrorism and twists it to include everyone, but especially Israel.
[Glenn]: Other than the fact that Friedman is advocating these actions for an actual state rather than a "subnational group," can anyone identify any differences between (a) what Friedman approvingly claims was done to the Lebanese and what he advocates be done to Palestinians and (b) what the State Department formally defines as "terrorism"?
Cheers,
[jjppmd]: this guy badly needs help for some very deep pathologic anti-Semitism--it's as simple as that.
That's spelled "anti-Likudism". A should be readily apparent to anyone paying attention.
Cheers,
>>Bring on the fucking Apocalypse.
It is coming, my friend, and sooner than you think. Careful what you wish for.
Here's a good one from Glenn where he takes a definition of terrrorism and twists it to include everyone, but especially Israel.
nevermind the question that Glenn actually asks right? Is Friedman promoting a violence that is on par with the terrorism that Hamas perpetrates? It's the same. It's just as bad. you can't admit to that and that makes you a really dumb dick
Add to that, rather than self-defense, israel is committing war crimes
oh! they're committing war crimes in self-defense? I get it now. you're a dumbfuck
And there is the case that Israel is morally wrong, and the Palestinians are victims of some heinous action. Im sure that I'm not going to find a quote along the lines that you and Glenn think Hamas should go kill Jews, rather you've defined the reason why it should happen. Victimhood and blamelessness in attacking Israeli civilians.
civilian Palestinians are actually the victims of heious actions right now. you making up lies about Glenn thinking Hamas should kill Jews is what it is, a lie. you're a dumbfuck
Glenn Greenwald -- Hundreds of posts, dozens of subjects. You?
I just have one question for you Mr. Christian. Is there anyone, anyone, other Netanyahu and maybe Sharon, who are not "anti-semites"?
Your brain is heavily diseased.

Kamiya's rants
What "Waltz With Bashir" can teach us about Gaza]
Is it just my imagination, or has the byline "Gary Kamiya" become synonamous with mindless anti-Semitism?
Kuriya is pathetic
Why Obama should end the "war on terror"]
It's telling that upon seeing the heading of this article and who its author was, I knew I wouldn't have to look far to find some bashing of Israel. Kuriya's relentless (and usually pointless) criticism of Israel, given how strong an ally they are, and the power of their courageous democracy in a very dangerous neighborhood, gives the lie to any objectivity on his part.
Wright is wrong
Rev. Jeremiah Wright isn't the problem]
It's amazing to me to see the elaborate contortions of fact and logic many Salonistas go through in attempts to defend their anointed one Oblaham, now showing perhaps fatal flaws. The kind of racist, anti-American, anti-Semitic hate speech spewed regularly over many years one would think would be anathema to those fancying themselves as "true liberasls", whose ostensible concerns are for human dignity, respect, and inclusiveness
misac
Of war and cancer]
I can only say about your post: You have it exactly right--the ridiculous notion that one can negoitate rationally with fanatic Islam fundamentalists who are willing to have their own children blown up, is beyond abaurd. And if one needs any verification, I would like those supporting a "Palestinian homeland" (what's a Palestinian?), by pushing Israel to make still more concessions to just look at the experience with these charming Arabs--to paraphrase Henry Kissinger, they never miss a chance to miss a chance.
Kuriya's the cancer
Of war and cancer]
To wit, comments like "Israel's meddling in Lebanon " is one more manifestation of his relentless anti-Israel positioning on virtually every issue involving the Middle East, and at such variance with reality as to make Kuriya appear either incredibly ignorant of the facts, or unabashedly biased.
Arandi the Racist
The crazy uncles in Obama's attic]
Not only does Arandi demonstrate hateful rhetoric toward a much smaller minority than his (Jews), he also demonstrates the type of narrow-minded ignorance usually found in anti-Semites.
Racist Arandi
Memo to Clinton and Obama: Stop spinning]
And where does the hostility to Israel arise from some black leaders? It's by far the most democratic country in the 3rd world, and nowhere in that arena are minorities, religious and racial, treated better ( highest standard of living in Arab world for Arabs is for those living in Israel)
calbears
The Iran hawks' latest surge]
another classic example of the contortions by the anti-Sems--oops-- I know, really only anti-Israel--about the "theocratic" nature of Israel. The fascinating point is how calbears waxes negative about how evil that is, while completely ignoring obvious facts about countries which are 100% defined by a relgion, e.g., Pakistan, Saudi Arabia (has Islamic crescent in its flag!), Jordan, etc., etc.
anti-Sems
The Iran hawks' latest surge]
"Bloomsbury"'s post is unfortunately a good example of just the type of anti-Semitic nonsense which often masquerades as serious comment about the middle East. Israel is "exclusionist", which has about 25% of its citizens practicing other religions? What of all the Muslim nations, e.g. Saudi Arabia, where it's illegal to practice any other religion, or Iran where the Jews who weren't murdered were force to flee for their lives? Or Pakistan, whose sole raison d'etre was to be a muslim nation? Or Syria, where any non-Muslim caught practicing another religion is arrested and usually never heard from again?
Iran's threat
The Iran hawks' latest surge]
I find it fascinating how any subject involving the Middle East brings the anti-Sems out of the woodwork, usually cloaking their real (but thinly disguised) bigotry in "anti-Israel", or "anti-Zionist" clothes.
The good, the bad, and the ugly
The 18 best Jewish ballplayers of all time]
First of all to Jonah-- thanks for an entertaining and well-researched piece. Although not Jewish myself, I found the list very interesting for the obvious reason that Jews are usually known for their impressive accomplishments in non-athletic fields, e.g. science, medicine, arts, etc.
