  • The new gold standard in crap: shooter242.

Consider this... they may not need it, but it legitimizes killing, and so the cycle continues. Especially when the primary vehicle of expression is suicide homicide.

So does painting an entire ethnic group as animals who engage in suicide bombing for recreation.

Doesn't it strike folks as strange that the entire world aligns itself against Israel, while doing next to nothing for the Palestinians?

It would, if there were any truth to that.

That alignment, including all the pro-Palestinian sentiment here leads the Palestinians to believe that targeting Israeli civilians with pitiful rockets is a good thing to do.

Again, it would be strange if that were happening. As it isn't (outside your diseased mind), its not worth commenting on.

Do I need to go into how that's idiotic?

Are you listening to yourself? I thought not.

Consider this too.... what if the world started to take Israel's side and emphasized their legitimacy as a country? And what if the world actually did things like condemning suicide bombings, and killing Israelis? would that be an effective headwind to Palestinian youth? Who knows, it's never been tried.

Well given Israel has a seat in the UN General Assembly, and sends and receives ambassadors all over the world, I'd say their 'legitimacy' as a country is pretty well established.

That doesn't protect it from criticism for its policies and actions however. You'd think a nuclear-armed state would be a little more confident in its conduct.

But I can say with certainty that people here are inflaming the situation and making it all but impossible for peaceful resolution.

Wait! You mean there are actual members of the US and Israeli government commenting here?! Who are they?

Or do you mean because many commentators here aren't reflexively pro-Israel and more objective about what's happening, it makes it impossible for you to stay in your comfortable little fantasies?

  • Humans shouldn't exist.

So where is Christ, Buddha, Muhammad, Zeus, Thor, et. al.? Where are the benevolent extraterrestrials? Hell, I'd even accept the Flying Spaghetti Monster stepping in to stop the slaughter.

Apparently, either we're all alone in the Universe, or they're all too far away, or they just don't care ... and maybe we don't DESERVE any help.

    Bring on the fucking Apocalypse.

  • Sorry Palestra

This is like watching a long multi-car wreck. Quick hits on wikipedia are no substitute for having a brain or any idea what you're talking about:

    http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/meast/01/06/israel.gaza.occupation.question/index.html

"The United Nations still calls Gaza "occupied," although U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon last year balked at the question. U.S. government Web sites also describe Gaza as "occupied."

  • MBMorris

"Will you please define "rhetorical rockets"?

Of course he wont. He's not having a conversation. That son of a bitch is what you guys are going to increasingly look out for. He's a particular type of shit, self appointed, who will start pointing out using sly means internal enemies of the state.

    He's a snitch.

More and more you'll hear terms like "rhetorical rockets" equating commentators slyly with terrorists. They'll never answer your questions. But the slurs will increase overtime as Fascism bit by bit takes a hold on America.

Italians, Spanish, Germans would have no problem spotting this ploy.

Just look at this git as the first cuckoo of spring.

  • My dear shooter242,

"That alignment, including all the pro-Palestinian sentiment here leads the Palestinians to believe that targeting Israeli civilians with pitiful rockets is a good thing to do.

Do I need to go into how that's idiotic?"

    Of course that's idiotic!

They need three suitcase nukes and three people willing to set them off.

Is that more to your preference?

The arms dealer who is selling them those rockets is doing Israel a BIG favor. All they have to do is find ANOTHER arms dealer.

One who will sell them real weapons, antiaircraft missiles, and surplus items from the big boys Russia is pretty pissed off about Georgia and China is pretty pissed about the U.S. economy and we have probably more than a few Gazans who would be willing to do whatever it takes.

Gazans should wait until they get a REAL arms dealer.

    You want some real idiocy?

    MAKE IT A FAIR FIGHT.

YEAH, MAKE IT A FAIR FIGHT.

Give the Gazans what they need to defend themselves.

Let's see how the Israelis like a FAIR FIGHT, one with NUKES, MISSILES and FIGHTER-BOMBERS on BOTH SIDES.

How long before someone decides to do that?

You want idiotic? Let's blow the whole damn planet up.

  • Omooex

Only in the bizarro world you live in can Gaza be deemed "occupied" by Israel after Israel withdrew from that territory and it was governed by an implacable enemy of Israel. And with that quote, who's looking at Wiki?

Enough already. While you and I could argue history and semantics for hours, what is needed is an American administration that will engage in a major initiative to bring the parties to the table and grind out a peace treaty. Nothing else we say really matters.

  • Baldie:

Debate on Israel in the US is one-sided or does not exist at all. It has nothing to do with what people actually think, or the facts.

If you think the MSM's lockstep is due to the fact that Israeli genocide is the right thing to do, then you are one seriously fucked-up piece of shit.

Well, maybe "JustUs" is "one seriously fucked-up piece of shit" and maybe it isn't; I have a feeling that some of these new pro-Israel/pro-slaughter commentators (who have graced these comments threads ever since Glenn started pointing out the absurdity of our media's love affair with Israel) are simply part of a concerted campaign by AIPAC, the ADF, or even Israeli military intelligence, to counteract any truth which may be leaking out to the American public.

Most of us here in the good old USA are unaware that Israel has been obstructing peace from the very beginning. For years Hamas has pledged to live peacefully with Israel in exchange for a return to the 1967 borders, an end to the blockades, and a release of Palestinian prisoners. AIPAC keeps spouting the lies that "the occupation ended in 2005" and that "Hamas was the first to break the ceasefire".

The Israelis are well aware of the fact that if their obstructionism and brutality were made known to the general population of the US, Israel's stranglehold on our government might begin to weaken.

The fact that there was ANY opposition to the pro-Israel resolution in the US House last week (5 "no" votes & 22 "present" votes) is a good sign... that wouldn't have happened a few years ago. Maybe the wall is beginning to crumble.

In my view, with each non-combatant death or maiming, Israel's "right to exist" rests on shakier and shakier ground.
