Tom Friedman offers a perfect definition of "terrorism"

The New York Times war cheerleader urges that Hamas be "educated" by "inflicting heavy pain on the Gaza population".

PDA Bitto-heads or Glenn-heads? Which do you like better?

Awesome, dude. That was like a "greatest hits" medley of every cheap argument by assertion you've ever written here.

Considering that you and the rest of the bitto-heads (bitter dittos and/or just itty-bitty) here, are masters of the same, you should feel right at home. So let's get an accurate count...

PDA, guy in the well, Sr. and Jr. Dheads, the Palestinian guy, T3, LL, Jebster, Peds, the Hag...that's ten. There must be a couple more here for an even dozen.

@BaldieMcEagle

The solution I asked was what would you have done about Hamas rockets if you were Israel?It was a simple question.

Wednesday, January 14, 2009 12:42 PM

Durian

Are you aware that Gazans aren't allowed by Israel to travel to the West Bank?

I disagree strongly with Glenn when he says that Israel does not or may not intend to kill civilians. Quite obviously they are and they do.

I didn't say this. I simply said that the mere fact that Friedman believes that Israel acts with a certain motive and should do so is not proof that this is, in fact, what motivates Israel. Just because Friedman thinks Israel is acting with terrorist aims and supports this approach doesn't mean that this is what Israel is doing.

I didn't express a view about whether Israel is doing that one way or the other. I just made clear that Freidman's claims aren't proof one way or the other on that question.

"the Palestinian guy"

You forgot to put stupid in front of Palestinian.

Wednesday, January 14, 2009 12:43 PM

You're clucking now, shooter242.

I'm sorry, are you saying the Palestinians have no control over the people they elected? Or are you saying they do have control Hamas but should be left alone to continue bombing Israel?

I'm sorry, are you saying the American public has no control over the people they elected? Or are you saying they do have control over President Bush but that he should be left alone to continue the occupation and reduction of Iraq?

You fricking psychopathic warmonger.

You blithe sociopathic murderer.

@ Paul Daniel Ash

Good catch. That was exactly Glenn's point.

Good catch, I said it wasn't Glenn's point in the next sentence.

But even Glenn has to grudgingly acknowledge (much as it must pain him) that simply because Friedman is a bloodthursty fool who loves murder, that doesn't automatically mean the war in Israe/Gaza is automatically dismissable.

Reading is fundamental.

@libertygal

If I were Israel?

If I were Israel, I'd degenerate into a fascist theocratic military state and implode 100 years after I began, leaving few mourners and a lot of mass graves.

Does that work?

For an actual solution that I myself---speaking as myself--suggest, see my post to PalestraJon below.

@WinSmith: Glennn and his barking chorus slam a liberal columnist for his sober analysis of Hamas.

When do you think Glennn will debate Charles Krauthammer?

Marc Steyn?

Do you think he'd (or they'd) learn anything from the UTube "Children of Hamas" video? The video shows pre-school and kindergarden age children marching around with little martyr vests, saying they want to grow up and kill Jews, "because they are animals."

Most people insert some sort of pro forma language that killing by Muslims is also detestable. The lack in your post, tells all.

WinSmith

Because Israel-haters hate to observe the complicity of Egypt and the war-crimes of Hamas in this scenario.

If this is what you were getting at, you could've simply asked me what I thought about it. And I would've agreed about Egyptian complicity in hamstringing, for domestic political reasons, the Palestinians living in Gaza. Sure, Mubarak has obvious reasons for wanting to tamp down Hamas' influence given his own problems with the Muslim Brotherhood. I don't believe I've excused the tyranny of Arab governments like Egypt. And I sure haven't excused Hamas' behavior. However, Egyptian collusion with Israel doesn't mitigate Israel's responsibilities as the occupying power (which they remain, for the reasons I mentioned earlier).

If you've read any of my diaries on Daily Kos, you'd know that one of the most important issues of our day is trying to interject some form of accountability on the Villager Pundits in our media who got everything wrong on Iraq and the economy, and yet continue to be treated like experts worthy of deep respect, unless they are talking about and defending all-things Israel because I share their Zioclown beliefs on that subject.

FTFY.

WinSmith and Shooter, the Israel-first odd couple. It really is fascinating the way these "Progressive Kos Kids" that "have oh-so-much more in common with you than you perceive when it comes to other issues" turn into Bill Kristol whenever someone mentions Israel.

Wednesday, January 14, 2009 12:47 PM

@shooter

Don't talk to me, or about me.

You'll notice I do the same for you.

That's all.

This man should never be allowed to ever speak another word on foreign policy. It should be a law based on his previous words.

Ah, a censorship advocate. What other rights of his would you take away? BittoHead hypocrite.

"Our side"? Who are you claiming as on your side?

And speaking of smear-by-association logic, haven't you equated the criticisms you've read on here about the Likud Partie's attack on Gaza as anti-semitic? Haven't you yelped about anti-semitism about a hundred times or so in reply to anyone and everyone who has posted those criticisms? Is that not your version of "smear-by-association"? 'Criticize Likud, you're an anti-semite'.

Song for Thomas Friedman

As the columnist Thomas Friedman told Charlie Rose, what the Iraqis ‘needed to see was American boys and girls going house to house, from Basra to Baghdad, and basically saying: “Which part of this sentence don’t you understand? You don’t think, you know, we care about our open society, you think this bubble fantasy, we’re just gonna let it grow? Well, Suck. On. This.”’

Pankaj Mishra , in The London Review of Books, 6 November, 2008
