Nice one. I'd not heard of the play "No Exit" before. Must read it. Harold fucking Pinter must have done, that's for sure.

  • @NYU Student

    by goyim non-Jews.

Mr. Student, have you ever run up against any Gentile goyim non-Jews? Those are the worst!

  • @ LondonLad: Too Clever By Half?

Do you remember him saying, "Al Queda constitutes an existential threat to our very way of life."

    _______________________________________

Yes, now that you refresh my memory, I certainly do.

But I presumed that he was trying to say "extraordinary", and it came out "existential" by a fluke of paraphasia.

  • normbreyfogle

Try not to take it so hard. There are few here who haven't been nipped a time or two by the persona that is Kitt.

  • @NYU Student

I just realised something! Okay, I'm pretty slow granted, but the "U" stands for "university"?

You realise that once those goyimgentile non-Jews start thinking we aren't really smart

  • Jim

Not to get too far off tangent, and really nothing personal against either you or Be bop, but I'm really surprised at the attitude some of the posters have here toward Be bop. Almost as if he were a child not responsible for his own actions.

  • Derbig

The word goy did have a line through it. I've probably said too much though, as a Christian I need to get back to work oppressing Jews.

    It's a goy thing.

  • karr(sic)

Thanks. Appreciated. Just for the record, I'm not taking it too hard; I'm just trying to be clear.

  • Glenn

Thanks for the prompt response. I'm sure it raised the hair on the back of the necks of many trolls.

Now lets see how effective it is when the torture investigations begin.

  • @ Chris Sinnard

Along with plenty of QQ, which means "Cry More" (The two Qs looks like a set of crying eyes).

    Interwebbers are very clever.

That's almost as cool as Ondelette's little guy doing pushups!

I thought we were 'Intertooburz' though........perhaps Ohio is behind the times (again).

    ;-}

  • How to disrespect Obama: Shut up.

It's critical that Obama -- and the rest of the political establishment -- hear loud objections, not reverential silence, when he flirts with ideas like the ones he suggested on Sunday. This dynamic prevails with all political issues. Where political pressure comes only from one side, that is the side that wins -- period.

This is a no-brainer on the face of it, but it also happens to be exactly what Obama himself has called for repeatedly - strong opinions expressed strongly and frequently - in his own cabinet and among his advisers. He's often said that he doesn't want people around him to tell him what they think he wants to hear; rather, he wants debate and challenge. It's irrational to think that he wants to limit that debate to the inner circles of his own administration.

Here's a strong message for Obamaphiles: He doesn't want you to shut up when you disagree with him. Silencing yourselves and trying to silence others is nothing less than disrespecting the man you profess to admire. He's a grownup; he can take criticism; he expects it; he wants it; it comes with the territory. He's got a lot more self-confidence than you're giving him credit for, and anyone with the self-confidence to attain the presidency in the unprecedented way Obama has is someone who has the self-confidence to have his opinions and knowledge challenged, strongly and repeatedly.

And in fact, he depends on challenge and debate to improve his own understanding and performance. That is the mark of a mature individual and a true leader. That's why I'm among those who have been raising holy hell about some of his decisions since he hit the presidential campaign trail.

Truer words were never spoken: "Where political pressure comes only from one side, that is the side that wins -- period."

  • @omooex

Almost as if he were a child not responsible for his own actions.

As far as I'm able to tell, he's suffering from life-long injuries and their consequences. That very often can include all kinds of emotional repercussions, either from the injuries or even as side-effects to the treatment.

There was a cry-for-help feeling to the thing I couldn't help but notice. A why-the-hell-is-this-happening-this-way-? sort of thing. The little of it I saw, anyway.

  • Littlebrother

"But I presumed that he was trying to say "extraordinary", and it came out "existential" by a fluke of paraphasia.

How tedious but no doubt right you probably are. I'd always wondered if the line had been written for him to repeat by Karl Rove for reasons I could never decipher.

I think it might have been here on Salon that some person, maybe Jewish, who said it was a sort of code aimed at them who of course would know what the word meant. And that it was both a sign of comradeship and recognition of the "existential" threat supposedly felt by Israel. In other words, "You're O.K Israel, we are now in this together."

  • Hmm

We'll leave it there, so as not to go on a crazy tangent. But if you will allow me, one could assume the same things about anyone here.

  • I enjoyed Bebop P and GC as well . . .

even though I couldn't usually make heads or tails of what they were going on about. It all just had a nice lyrically linguistic quality to it I can't quite put my finger on. But GG warned them repeatedly to keep it to a post a page and he/she/they (Pedinska knowing them to be one in the same) couldn't apparently resist the temptation.

Cocktailhag . . . don't even get me started on redneck jokes.

  • omooex

Bebop-o is most certainly responsible for the error of his ways. Its what instigated this behavior that is puzzling to most of us, Its completely out of character, and a mystery to those of us who have enjoyed his normal contributions.

I support Glenn for what he has to do to keep his blog remarkable, I just don't understand what Art's problem is, and I wish I could help him sort through whatever it is that is bothering him.

  • Omooex

I'm with you. I guess we'll see what happens, and hope for the best.

Or: "Speaking in French, or any language that most do not understand, demonstrates the need of a weak persons's fragile ego to build itself up. I understand your words, less so your arrogance and silliness. Please stop."

Now maybe I'm being overly critical, but I read French well enough, and used to speak it almost fluently, and still have my days. Some are not translating, however, and I suppose those who do could be excused by a desire to set forth the original. Still, I really don't think this is a forum where we need show how very smart and multi-lingual we are. (Kinda like I just did! But I translated.)
