Obama v. the National Intelligence Estimate on Iran

Last year, the NIE famously concluded with "high confidence" that Iran halted its nuclear weapons program in 2003. Why did Obama say yesterday that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons?

    @Omooex, et al

    I post quotes from influential Jewish religious leaders, and influential Jewish political leaders, and I am “rationally untenable, absurdly generalized, and anecdotal?”

    Tell me, Omooex (what the hell does that mean, anyway? how do you even pronounce it?), how would you critique a Muslim theocracy that is trying to get nuclear weapons (sound familiar?) without reading what the religious leaders of that nation believe? How would you critique the United States form of government without reading the Federalist Papers? Israel proclaims itself a Jewish State. So that can only mean the religion of Judaism informs and guides it's policies. And from what I have posted, it seems pretty clear that it does. Israel's behaviour seems pretty damn consistent with the racist, elitist dogma of Judaism. Don't ya think?

    It seems absurdly generalized, it seems irrational, it seems frothingly emotional, to you, for the simple reason that you (and I) have been enculturated to believe that any criticism of Judaism is anti-Semitism. It is YOUR response that is emotional. My words trigger an emotional response in the reader, not in and of themselves, but because the reader has been trained to react that way.

    I know exactly where you are coming from, because 10 years ago, I would have thought my words were those of a Holocaust-denying, anti-Semitic, Jew-hating bastard. But after being exposed to news media outside the Zionist-controlled machine in the United States, after living overseas (in Asia) and seeing REAL racism as opposed to the (still disgusting) remnants of ours; after hearing almost a decade of anti-Muislim and anti-Arab rhetoric in the media, I see things a little differently now.

    Yeah, my posts are emotional. I cuss, and I get mad, and I say silly, stupid things. But the facts are the facts, and no amount of histrinoics on my part can change them. I am using a hammer, instead of a tap, because time is short, and the posts are short. And frankly, it is only through shock than one can get out of that pre-programmed mindest of Jewish Exceptionalism, for the reasons outlined above. And I do pay attention to the reactions of others, I do take into account how my words are percieved and if they are veritas. From the feedback from those who have lived in Israel, I don’t think I am too much off the mark.

    Glenn Greenwald called me an idiot – that is fine. I have to assume the role of Jester in some small way in order to get my point across in this medium. I wouldn’t expect any other reaction on his part. Like I said earlier, if he were to freely admit the overhwelming influence of Jews in our media, he would be run out of town. Yet all of you have been saying the same thing, just not coming to any conclusions. You speak of the effects, and you acknowledge the effects, but you refuse to search for a cause.

    This all ties together. It is not a “conspiracy theory,” another term used to shut off thinking. Americans support Israel by default because that is what we have been taught to do. The U.S. government supports Israel because they have been bought. The U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East is formulated, and for very much of the recent past has been executed, by people who were all-but Israelis. Some of them were! This is called hijacking. Our foreign policy was hijacked under Bush. By a foreign power!

    Media portrayals – news. It is how a democracy functions. Foreign policy – sending troops, starting wars, sending money (our tax money, mind you), giving political support at home and abroad (through the State Department – go down that road – Hillary, the Jewish vote in New York, now Secretary of State).

    This thing with Iran – it’s another Neocon war. Iran is not a threat to the United States. If we are so concerned about nuclear proliferation, then why don’t we send inspectors to disarm Israel’s nuclear arsenal? The Arab world hates us because of Israel. Even though we installed puppet dictatorships all over their land, and support oppressive regimes even to this day, most Arabs and Muslims looked pretty favorably on America. Until recently. Until American pro-Israel Jews hijacked America’s foreign policy.

    I served in the United States Armed Forces. I pay U.S. taxes. I and my family are U.S. citizens. And now we are hated, and we are targets, because of Israel.

    So, since billions of my dollars go to Israel, since my government seems to be at the beck and call of Israel, since my news media is owned and run by pro-Israel Jews, where does that leave me? Where does it leave you?

    If you want a solution, you have to define the problem. What is the problem? The problem, as I see it, is that Americans are living an an illusion. They are seeing a world that is false. And that world informs them, guides them, helps them to vote and voice their opinion on matters foreign and domestic.

    DesertPeace is a crack in that wall of illusion. So is Al-Jazeera. So are you. And through those cracks what are we seeing? A manifestation of a world-view. An expression of a belief system. A world-view and a belief-system that we have unquestioningly supported and defended for decades.

    I think it's time to question.
