Hamas baited Israel to start this war by lobbing missiles into Israeli towns killing 4 citizens.
I'm not so sure. Maybe the narrative can go, Israel allowed only of the order of 100 trucks of supplies per day to reach Gaza, with a population of 1.5 million, that needs supplies of the order of 1000 trucks per day; and this despite the agreement reached at the beginning of the recently-lapsed ceasefire. After six months of this starvation, Hamas refused to renew the ceasefire, and "started this war by lobbing missiles into Israeli towns".
So, LondonLad, how long would the tower have been able to withstand the heat of a full tank of burning airliner jet fuel, in your opinion?
The most annoying thing about the "Truthers" is that everyone seem to have a different opinion about what really happened. The official version is clear and consistent with video images as well as many eye witnesses and scientific data.
Believe me, I've read a LOT about this, and the "Truthers" all end up in unprovable conspiracy theories. How about sticking to trying to do something about what we DO know happened first?
Perhaps the correct way to view Gaza is that it is akin to the Warsaw Ghetto?
Well, yes it is what it says. It provides quotes from Barak. It provides many links, that generally say that yes, indeed, it was the Israeli's who pulled out.
"We made progress, substantial progress. We are closer than ever to the possibility of striking a final deal," said Shlomo Ben-Ami, Israel's negotiator. Saeb Erekat, Palestinian chief negotiator, said, "My heart aches because I know we were so close. We need six more weeks to conclude the drafting of the agreement."
George Bush and Ariel Sharon made very damn sure that they never got those six weeks. The Palestinians did not pull out of the talks; they were ready to go on after the US and Israeli elections. So don't blame the collapse on them; to do so is a LIE.
And don't be so sure about Israeli accepting a peace deal based on it now; they turfed Barak for Sharon remember, and I doubt that Israeli public opinion has gotten any softer since. And indeed virtually the last thing Barak did before leaving office was to explicitly state that Israel would not in fact be held to any of the terms (ie concessions) negotiated at Taba in the future. Arafat made no such stipulation.
"What is it? WHY have Israel's interests been made into the US's interests?I have NEVER seen a good answer to that."
Perhaps it's because you are not familiar with this particularly noxious variant of the neocon AIDs virus then.
AboutJINSA has a Two-Fold Mandate:
1. To educate the American public about the importance of an effective U.S. defense capability so that our vital interests as Americans can be safeguarded; and
2. To inform the American defense and foreign affairs community about the important role Israel can and does play in bolstering democratic interests in the Mediterranean and the Middle East.,

I also ask what business is it of a privately financed, publicly unaccountable institution such as The Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs with a home address in Washington DC to presume to lecture American people on matters relating to the security of, eh, America?
Clinton, who had every reason to tell the truth since his prestige was on the line, clearly blamed Arafat.
And Zbigneiw Brzezinski clearly blames someone else (hint: not Palestinian)

"But Hamas demanded war as a political maneuver. When it is ready to make peace, I am sure that Israel will negotiate. Asking Israel to make war gently, however, is ridiculous."
If this is true, then I don't know why you're whining about Hamas rocket-fire. It seems that mindless Israeli supporters always pull out this hanky drenched in crocodile tears as they apologize for Israel's deadly attacks. And yet when Israel is attacked, they seem to have a much lower tolerance for the horror of war.
is accepting donations to deliver white roses to Obama, asking for a ceasefire:
"Donate $5 today and we will deliver Barack Obama a bouquet of white roses, harkening back to the White Rose Society—the WWII non-violent resistance group in Germany. This tiny band of college students and their professor adopted the motto "We will not be silent" and exposed what they saw and knew was happening around them...
Once you donate, please call Obama's transition team at 1-202-540-3000, press 2, and ask Obama to use use his leadership and call for a ceasefire."

On Friday, July 14, commenting on the war between Israel and Hizbollah, and the bombing of Lebanon, Senator Feingold said, “I stand firmly with the people of Israel and their government as they defend themselves against these outrageous attacks. The kidnapping of Israeli soldiers and missile attacks against Israeli citizens are unacceptable and cannot be tolerated.” http://irregulartimes.com/index.php/archives/2006/07/17/feingold-israel/

He is not speaking about Gaza, but he may as well be, based on this quote, it's pretty obvious that Minnesota is "occupied" territory as well.
Still, it really doesn't matter. Everyone knows that the deal there was the deal today, since NOTHING ELSE WORKS. The Palestinians deserve a viable state, removal of all of the settlements that impede travel, an agreement on other land issues and a piece of Jerusalem, as well as some unblocked right of way from Gaza to the West Bank. I guarantee you that a sizable majority of Israelis would vote for that deal.
It doesn't matter how many Israelis vote for it. The last peace deal that was in the works was scuppered by one Israeli vote by a guy with a gun. After that the whole thing fell apart. The deal was "Land for Peace" the Israelis said "No, thanks -- we'd rather have the land."
No Israeli leader can threaten to make peace without facing the very real danger of assassination by those who have a direct channel to God.
