There are "foreigners" on the internet? How so? -- The Reality Kid

Glenn's posts over these past few days are focused on U.S. involvement in the internal affairs of Israel and the Palestinian territories of Gaza and the West Bank. He has repeated mentioned that he is writing about the matter from the perspective of a U.S. citizen. Sooo... yes, British and Irish contributors to the discussion are writing from an outside perspective, are "foreign" with respect to the states involved in the conflict (especially the funding state -- the U.S.).

One of them, DavidByron, is frankly an archetypical Old Left anti-Semite right out of 1968. Others like LondonLad and maureenodonnell are regularly waaaayyyyy too flippant about the (legitimate) concerns of Jews with respect to present and historic anti-Semitism. Our vulgar 'Merkun fixation on the legitimacy of something as "trivial" as Jewish sensibilities seems to provoke a sense of "light" amusement in them.

Explain to me why that should prompt me to show them respect, above what they give to others.

  • @Jebbie (OT) your web site

Among other things I design web sites , and have done so since 97. I like your sites look, the content is the content and is irrelevant to this discussion, although I like that too.

I have no display issues, I am running the latest vers of Firefox. I don't use Explorer, although your site has to work in that as well. There are a growing number of Safari users that need to see too. A super fantastic tool for any web person is google webmaster, have a look, it's freaking amazing.

My only suggestion is that you incorporate a nav bar of some sort, on the left or on the top, don't try to get too creative, people are used to that. Good navigation is your friend.

As for music playing automatically, or any kind of media, that is not recommended. I, for instance, often listen to internet radio while browsing and get very annoyed when someone zaps me with music or video.

Good luck and thanks for the extra efforts on behalf of Glenn and the community!

I think there is really something fishy about the leftist Jews like Glennnn, who always side with Israel's sworn enemies,

Come to think of it, I have more to add:

Consider your question, above? What you're REALLY asking here is how can a Jew not be blindly tribal? It strikes you as 'fishy' that a Jew wouldn't put his tribe before truth and justice.

Your 'head scratching' over the 'fishiness' of Glenn's ability to separate tribal loyalties from truth and justice says a HELL of a lot more about you then it does, Glenn.

Your mindset creates anti-semitism. Glenn, and many other Jews just like him, prove that REAL anti-semites are full of shit. Many Jews can put truth and justice before tribe. You apparently are not one of them.

  • How can you not like an entire country?

    That is an excellent question.

It turns out that in this country there are many who can not separate the USA government (and its actions) from the men, women, and children who live here. They can not see that "America" is her people; and not her thugish government.

Turns out, these folks have the same trouble with governments overseas. They can not see that mankind is the important issue, and not the artificial construct called "central government".

Once a man claims that a government has an absolute "right to protect itself", then he has claimed a government has the moral right to do anything. Reject that! That path leads to perdition.

  • Americans side with Israel

Americans side with Israel because they know:

When the Arabs put their guns down, there will be no war.

When Israel puts it's guns down, there will be no Israel.

The angry anti-Israel Salon posters, led by Greenwald, Cole & Kamiya just need to deal with it.

The current flare up will end when Hamas gives stops firing rockets at Israel and an arrangement is made to stop the smuggling of Iranian arms into Gaza. Not before. That could be this afternoon, or next year. It is up to Hamas.

  • @UsedtobeKristin

I'll take a run at it.

It's extremely difficult to be rational about the irrational.

It's tempting to suggest that there's some form of tribalism in play, but is there really? The, ah, two tribes are really one. As we all are.

That which separates them is an artificial construct that exists only in their imaginations.

It will take even more imagination to resolve. Unfortunately, rather than use their imagination, they're preoccupied with hitting each other over the head with sticks. With sabotaging each other and themselves.

If you want to get all tribal about it, there's plenty of room for one or two more semitic states in the region. But what is currently sought appears to be tribal homelands...an irrational quest in the circumstances.

Hear, Hear misaac. Never a truer word and all that. Nasty bastards bees are aren't they?

    FBOW, how could you forget:

"Ich bin ein Berliner" (although why it would possess someone to want to be a pastry is beyond me).

It seems like your heart's in the right place, but i wonder if you'd make the same remarks about black South Africans. Surely, as humans, they must have only been up to the same things you're talking about here, no better than their white counterparts.

  • @Jebbie, re O/T

I have emailed you a screenshot. Your site basically works (though with some odd resolution problems) on IE, but various Firefox configurations have trouble.

    Cheers
