Both parties cheerlead still more loudly for Israel's war

As the body count in Gaza piles up, the U.S. Congress acts overwhelmingly to insinuate itself into the war with blind support for Israel.

Could Israel's treatment of Palestinians be considered a holocaust? What irony it would be if the people they seek to protect end up perpetrating similar crimes...

Much like a sexually abused child grows up to be a sexual abuser. It's not ironic, it is a sickness.

KILL OR DIE

Let us all be very clear what we are talking about here. Six million Jews are surrounded by a billion people who have sworn to die in the act of murdering them. They say their bastard god, "allah", has ordered them to do this.

There is no negotiating with such dementia. There are no options. For the Israelis, there is only kill or die.

Given those choices, which would you choose?

@Johnnnymac66

If that is the way Israelis do indeed percieve their situation, then it is they who are demented.

What shall we do with such dementia?

Hate Speech

And how dare you call their God a "bastard God." That is hate speech.

Islam recognizes all Jewish prophets. Islam recognizes all Christian prophets. Judaism recognizes neither.

Oh, bullshit.

A billion people have sworn so? When? Where? Citations, if you please.

No?

Thought not.

You'll be happy to know that after I have my stroke (thanks to people such as you), you can continue to mutter your fantasies to a roomful of similarly minded, what?, non-humans? (is the best and most polite word I can summon).

I'm often/frequently/always ashamed that I live on the same planet such as yourself.

You're a disgrace to humanity.

Greenwald's retreat

It's nice to see that Glenn has formulated this OP without the use of his false claim in his recent OP:

the view which 70% of Americans embrace -- that the U.S. should be neutral and even-handed in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict generally -- is one that no mainstream politician would dare express

("George Washington's warnings and U.S. policy towards Israel", Dec 30, 2008, http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2008/12/30/democracy).

This claim, as I pointed out in my comments to that OP, is patently false, and is disproven by the very opinion survey on which Greenwald based his OP, which states:

"A very large majority of Americans see the resolution of the Israel-Palestinian conflict as an important foreign policy goal and as crucial to winning the war against terrorism."

As well as:

"A strong majority views Israel as a friend of the United States"

Net-based news and commentary are viable alternatives to mainstream media not just because of their accessibility, but because of widely-perceived flaws with the mainstream media. One of those flaws is the lack of intellectual honesty in reporting and formulating viewpoints on issues of the day, due to political bias. Only by striving for quality and honesty can net-based media continue to offer a real alternative to mainstream media.

The problem with Lying

Let us all be very clear what we are talking about here. Six million Jews are surrounded by a billion people who have sworn to die in the act of murdering them. They say their bastard god, "allah", has ordered them to do this. -- Johnnnymac66

Unfortunately for your thesis, you are lying. One billion Muslims are by no means in agreement in believing that Allah has ordered them to exterminate all Israelis.

There is no negotiating with such dementia. There are no options. For the Israelis, there is only kill or die.
Given those choices, which would you choose?
-- Johnnnymac66

Since we're talking God, the choice that He Commands: thee shalt not murder. Also, for you, specifically, there's the one where He said: thee shalt not bear false witness.

Keep them in mind. No glistening falsehood of yours can excuse the present slaughter of civilian children that is being carried out on behalf of the present ruling party in Israel.

Not before us.

Not before God.

@JonathanInTelAviv

Those statements are not contradictory. In fact, they could very well be part of a consistent foreign policy.

Are you saying a resolution to the I/P conflict is only possible if we are not neutral and even-handed? Are you saying a foreign-policy friend cannot be out of line?

Yes, intellectual honesty. God forbid you practice this yourself. I'd like to laugh but I cannot. It's much too depressing. Remember the word "shame"? It's typically found in the lexicon of most human beings.

@Silash

Could Israel's treatment of Palestinians be considered a holocaust?

Sure, if you don't know the meaning of the word, or if you want to insult Israel and don't mind trampling on the memory of the six million jews who were killed by the Nazis during World War Two.

The facts are clear. There is no parallel between the two experiences, not just because Israel hasn't attempted to exterminate the Palestinians, but because European Jewry didn't try to replace Germany with a jewish state.

You realize, of course, that the god "allah" which you refer to as a bastard, is the same god that Jews and Christians worship.

No?

In fact, the word "allah" is Arabic for...guess who? God.

You're from the southern US, correct?

Cracker?

I cannot see how Israel deserves billions of dollars in aid from the tax payers, though of course private citizens should be able to do as they wish with their money.

Do you think private citizens should be able to take a tax deduction when they give money to Israel? Thanks to the Jewish lobby, private citizens get that tax break only when they donate to Israel. Donations to any other country come straight out of pocket.

So nice.

The price of gasoline has jumped 20 cents since the Gaza bombing started (in Seattle anyway). What is that costing Americans?

We buy the planes and bombs and then we pay even more to enable this current holocaust.

The insanity of it all astounds me.
