Discussing Israel/Gaza on right-wing talk radio

I had an unexpectedly substantive discussion of the Middle East and the "Islamic threat" on "The Hugh Hewitt Show" last night.

The letters thread is now closed.

@ lotus feet

Calling Glenn "Gwen," your childish attempt to feminize him out of your neo-con rage, is exactly why your party has collapsed into incoherency, racism, hate and irrelevance.

Your party has spent the past three years calling John Edwards a "fag," Barack Obama a "magic Negro" and Hillary Clinton a "lesbian" or a "Feminazi."

Then your 600+ right wing radio stations all scream that some mythical army of Politically Correct Police are preventing you from speaking the "truth" because they want you to be "sensitive" (sensitivity to others is, of course, for pansies).

This is why your party has been a disaster, both for the country and for its own electoral prospects.

This right wing hate radio tactic of feminizing men and masculinizing women you don't agree with is just plain pathetic. It might've worked in 2002, but enough already.

Since you probably haven't read The Protocols, it would explain your ignorance when you repeat those age-old conspiracy theory narratives in your unhinged rants. -- WinSmith the Liar.

Well you liar, show me a link to any "unhinged" conspiracy theories that I have posted.

Otherwise, besides being a bloodthirsty genocide loving ass-hat, we will know you as a liar.

Do you really expect your idiotic, fact-free accusations to mean anything here at all?

Glenn

Props to Hewitt for having this interview with you and for airing it unedited.

While Hewitt no doubt has rabid fans who will not accept anything coming from the mouth of someone perceived as being to the left of Genghis Khan, I would guess that your words were also reaching some in his audience who are fed up with non-stop warmongering of all sorts. This is exactly the kind of dialogue that has been direly needed and you handled it well.

Sort of lets the air out of the tires of those who argue one should never meet the enemy in his lair. ;-}

Well done.

Who Needs Right-Wing Radio?

Just read TPM! Enjoy the nostalgia of the "two-state" solution, and they have much better manners over there at TPM, they're all such menschs.

Israel has a bit more justification for killing Palestinians

... than US army killing Iraqis (and Vietnamese, Native Americans, African slaves, etc.) since they are at least invading a bordering neighbor. I don't see what moral high ground Americans are standing on to criticize Israel as long as US is occupying Iraq. Even those who claim "I never supported the Iraqi war" contributed to GWB's war with their tax dollars.

If you have read the book "The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy", you would know that the Iraqi war and the current Gaza war are sponsored and run by essentially the same people, funded by the same pool of money. This is a prolonged religious and tribal battle that will probably last through our lifetime.

What Kitt said

You [WinSmith] still think that after a couple of hundred of your comment posts that anyone sees you as anything other than a devout propagandist? A lousy and deceitful but transparent propagandist. That's what you are. I doubt that few if anyone who has read your comments sees you in any other light.

gustafus - ""Until Americans understand that names like Panetta are NOT Italian"

From Answers.com: Leon E. Panetta was born in Monterey, California, on June 28, 1938, to Italian immigrant parents, Carmelo Frank and Cramelina Maria (Prochilo) Panetta. His parents operated a restaurant until 1947, when they sold it and bought a walnut ranch in Carmel Valley. It was there that Leon and his older brother lived as teenagers. He attended grammar school at a Catholic mission school and graduated from Monterey High School in 1956. Panetta then enrolled at the University of Santa Clara. Panetta graduated magna cum laude in 1960 and received a law degree three years later from the University of Santa Clara Law School. After graduating from law school, he married Sylvia Marie Varni. She bore him three sons: Christopher, Carmelo, and James.

From NNDB:

Leon Panetta

AKA Leon Edward Panetta

Born: 28-Jun-1938

Birthplace: Monterey, CA

Gender: Male

Religion: Roman Catholic

Race or Ethnicity: White

Sexual orientation: Straight

Occupation: Government

Party Affiliation: Democratic

From Wikipedia: In June 2002 the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops put him on their National Review Board[16], which was created to look into the Catholic Church's sexual abuse scandal. This created controversy because of Panetta's pro-choice stands on abortion and other views seen as conflicting with those of the Church.

From me: Is gustafus an agent provocateur?

On the question of war crimes

Professor Peter Falk, U.N. special rapporteur of human rights, lists three violations of international law committed by Israel in the attack on Gaza:

"The Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip represent severe and massive violations of international humanitarian law as defined in the Geneva Conventions, both in regard to the obligations of an Occupying Power and in the requirements of the laws of war.

"...Collective punishment: The entire 1.5 million people who live in the crowded Gaza Strip are being punished for the actions of a few militants.

"... Targeting civilians: The airstrikes were aimed at civilian areas in one of the most crowded stretches of land in the world, certainly the most densely populated area of the Middle East.

"Disproportionate military response: The airstrikes have not only destroyed every police and security office of Gaza's elected government, but have killed and injured hundreds of civilians; at least one strike reportedly hit groups of students attempting to find transportation home from the university.

"Earlier Israeli actions, specifically the complete sealing off of entry and exit to and from the Gaza Strip, have led to severe shortages of medicine and fuel (as well as food), resulting in the inability of ambulances to respond to the injured, the inability of hospitals to adequately provide medicine or necessary equipment for the injured, and the inability of Gaza's besieged doctors and other medical workers to sufficiently treat the victims."

A more accurate comparison....

Right. If I'm responsible for Gustaf, then you're responsible for Baruch Goldstein, Yigal Amir and the violent and expanding West Bank settlers.

If you are responsible for gustafus, then Win is responsible for this reprehensible piece of excrement:

Maybe, just maybe, Israel learned valuable lessons with Hezbollah and will be far more thorough in Gaza. ALL before January 20. I'm still hoping for 15,000 lb Bunker Busters at the Persian Nuke sites, as The Messiah is very likely going to disapprove of Israel taking the Mullahs at their word.

I'll be waiting for Win's repudiation.....but not holding my breath.
