Discussing Israel/Gaza on right-wing talk radio

I had an unexpectedly substantive discussion of the Middle East and the "Islamic threat" on "The Hugh Hewitt Show" last night.

The letters thread is now closed.

Oh Chris and PDA, you make me laugh!

Out loud even. Let's see, I served in the Air Force during Grenada so does that qualify me to speak? Probably not. Hmmmph.

The only qualification to post here is that you have your pocket copy of Protocols with you at all times.

I'm pretty sure WinSmith has extra copies if you need one.

I'm hoping the transom opens wide enough that somebody can toss some pre-911 evidence over.

Sorry, man. Your initial post fooled me into thinking I might be addressing a rational human being.

But, this is one of those place[s] where strident lying doesn't work very well. You tend to get called on [it], you see.

It always bears repeating...... especially when it's rife with typos.

Israel Right or Wrong Troll Commenting Rules

Israel Right or Wrong troll rule #1

Anyone who objects to the Israeli government’s decisions regardless of the facts presented is an anti-Semitic racist.

Israel Right or Wrong troll Rule #2

When the facts are against you in an argument, resort to labeling used in rule #1.

Israel Right or Wrong troll Rule #3

Believe that whatever someone on your team says is the truth regardless of the horror that is being justified or the lies being told.

Israel Right or Wrong troll Rule #4

Consider any tragedies or international law violations by Israeli military forces as the expected and justifiable result of war.

Israel Right or Wrong troll Rule #5

Whenever Israel causes human agony to civilians in war immediately justify it by saying the other side does the same thing whether or not there are any facts to back up the statement.

Israel Right or Wrong troll Rule #6

It’s not necessary to read Greenwald’s article before commenting

Civilian Here

Well, I've never been a soldier, but as a civilian I have been shot at by soldiers. In fact, shot at, shelled, and bombed (it's fun growing up in a war-zone). Mind you, I was under 18 at the time. But still, does that count? Do I get partial credit?

Tuesday, January 6, 2009 02:04 PM

Thou Shalt Not Kill

Glenn said:

"All wars -- even the most just and necessary -- entail civilian deaths, so incidents like this don't, by themselves, prove the war is wrong."

In fact, no war is ever "just". No war is ever "necessary". Yes, all wars "entail civilian deaths", which itself proves that all war is wrong.

You are an admirably clear thinker, Glenn. I don't want to sidetrack you into a discussion about absolute pacifism. But I do believe it is the only logical and coherent stance one can take when it comes to these matters.

Once you start arguing that SOME wars are just and necessary, then it simply becomes a matter of who makes that value judgement. And who writes the history books later.

Wallaby

You are an advocate of ethnic cleansing, and you're going to sit here and accuse everyone who opposes your fanatic zealotry as a racist?

HAH!

Abe Foxman has called Jimmy Carter and Walt and Meirsheimer and Amnesty International and the UN - ALL anti-semites.

Boy you zionist have really cheapened a word that used to hold so much significance. I can't imagine how all this "crying wolf" is good for the Jewish Community that you pretend to care about.

Does the War on Christmas count? I'm still fighting that one. Truly, a just cause.

Tuesday, January 6, 2009 02:09 PM

gandhi

Your last para., is the question worth debating. That's where I thought Steved was going before he imploded.

I would imagine self-defense against a War of Aggression is justifiable. Don't know if that fits the definition of a just war, though.

Tuesday, January 6, 2009 02:10 PM

@stevedew

I served in the Air Force for 28 years and with an attitude like you are showing, I'm glad I didn't serve with you (if you in fact did serve in the Army) at US Central Command when I did from 1982-86. You are only shaming yourself and our military with the attitude you are showing. You are insulting friends of mine who contribute significantly on Greenwald's threads. We need facts and ideas not insults. Grow up or leave us alone.

Wallaby

Indeed, it is completely lawful for a Jewish person like Mooser to be as antisemitic as he wants in this country. They may do this, from your perspective, by critiquing Israel; or from the perspective of the more enlightened, by attempting to stifle all critique of Israel as you do. In either case, my heart goes out to you because obviously your apparently fragile emotional state has been driven all a-kilter, but you haven't a legal leg to stand on.

That was one of the weirder series of nonspecific posts I've ever read here. A perl script is more communicative.

OT state secrets

This article might be of interest, in that a judge has allowed a lawsuit about wiretapping to proceed and rejected throwing it out because of state secrets

Grenada?!?

Damn, we came "this close" to being taken over by Grenada! Those sneaky bastards; pretending to be a defenseless little island.

Fuck them, I say! (and we did)

OT - Al Haramain v. Bush may proceed, "state secrets" defense bogus

A federal judge ruled Monday that a lawsuit filed by an Islamic charity alleging that it was illegally wiretapped by the National Security Agency may proceed, and issued a stinging rebuke to government lawyers who have repeatedly sought to invoke the state secrets privilege to block litigation.

Try Python, it makes much more sense.

But, that was no script. He is just crazy.

Al Haramain v. Bush

Yep. That's where I think we go next. Anyone want to make book on Glenn's next column? We just need to figure out how to get from a couple of days of trollgasm, to there.

Sort of like pushing hard against a door that someone unexpectedly opens from the other side. The interlocutors on the other team left the playing field unexpectedly. Hope no one was injured.
