Discussing Israel/Gaza on right-wing talk radio

I had an unexpectedly substantive discussion of the Middle East and the "Islamic threat" on "The Hugh Hewitt Show" last night.

The letters thread is now closed.

Hamas shouldn't shoot rockets at Israel, but Israel is criminal to protect itself. Pretzel logic based on prejudice and fantasy.

If I shoot your mother, Sh**ter, and you shoot mine, we're both criminals. This is not difficult for even a sapient piece of gneiss to understand. Why you have difficulty is beyond me.

Cheers,

@Wallaby

I'd be interested it an excerpt of what you'll be sending to Attorney General Brown. You'd think I'd notice calls to "racial violence, and worse" but I somehow missed them.

Just copy/paste a couple. Seriously.

wallaby's race hatred

But when a forum such as this promotes race hatred, racial violence and worse then it crosses over into the legal realm

What are some examples of this? Oh wait, I think I just found one:

That comments that equate Israel and Jews with the worst filth of humanity ever are permitted even encouraged here

@ Chris Sinnard

Well said.

The Hatian Revolution and...what? What is your point?

@casual observer

The U.N. said they had sent GPS coordinates of U.N. run schools that they had opened up to shelter use to the IDF. Two of them were hit after the coordinates had been sent.

The AG is kid's stuff. You'll be getting a letter from the ADL, personally written and signed by Abe Foxman, to combat your Jew Hating.

@ Wallaby

Could you please copy and paste some of these racist statements in a post, so we know what you're talking about?

The Call Up

Thanks, but we all know that the context of Chomsky's quote was about promoting antisemitism because he is a self-hating Jew.

So do as PDA asked and copy/paste a few examples.

I don't plan to engage you, rise to your bait or otherwise 'debate' with hate mongers. I plan to look into how to stop it.

Providing examples doesn't require you to engage or 'debate.' It would, however, give credence to your charges.

Yeah, the UN is sooo believable.

It looks like the UN is engaging in calumny with that dubious claim that the IDF shelled two of its supposedly sanctioned shelters.

In a twisted way, it makes sense, since Israel has correctly ignored all those cowardly UN resolutions in the past. I guess this is just the UN's way to get even with the uppity little Jewish nation in the Middle East.

How dare Israel not obey their betters -- right, lefties?

To these Serious experts, human tragedy is just an inevitable byproduct

Despite Gaza Attacks, Hamas Thinks It Has the Upper Hand

Time, By Jamil Hamad / Bethlehem and Tony Karon Tuesday, Jan. 06, 2009 (see sig)

Israel says its military offensive in Gaza has dealt Hamas a heavy blow, but that's not how the leaders of the radical Palestinian group see it. Their view is based more on a kind of jujitsu that uses Israel's military momentum against its own political objectives than on any serious belief in rhetoric about the organization's "steadfast" fighters being able to "crush" the invaders.

[…]

Neither side is likely to have all its demands met by a cease-fire. The amount of compromise each side will have to swallow will be determined by the impact, in Gaza and beyond, of the ongoing clash of bombs, bullets, rockets and images. After that will come the battle to shape the perception of victory. Israelis go to the polls next month to pick a new government, and more hawkish politicians may accuse Defense Minister Ehud Barak and Livni (both of whom are running for Prime Minister) of failing to finish the job. That, and the probability that the cease-fire will include a mechanism for reopening the border crossings, makes the Islamists believe that, despite the casualty count, the war is not going too badly for them.

I don't need you to give credence to my charges

Sorry but I'm not playing that 'citation needed' game with you. You are not the arbiter I need to deal with. Thank you anyway. Racists don't get to decide how the targets of their slurs and attacks can feel about that.

I'm starting to agree with what others have said earlier, that the issue of Israeli-Palestinian conflicts brings out the worst in people who are otherwise apparently sane.

We've now reached a point where several regulars of this blog, most notably Jebbie, have frothed so much vitriol against Israel that I begin to wonder if they wouldn't have been averse to operating the showers at those infamous prison camps if they'd been born a generation or two ago. That's quite lamentable.

Yes, I know, making uncomfortable observations amidst all of this anti-Israeli rage will just get the Lockstep Left to fire up their ovens of outrage, but neither the threat of flame nor Zyklon B can suppress the truth of the current IDF campaign in Gaza. All the Islamist propaganda most of you spout so readily won't change the outcome, either, as Hamas is finding out to their own bitter regret.

-- Lab2112

First of all, which one of you am I addressing now?

My "vitriol" as you call it, has not been against Israel, it has been against what Israel has been doing. That you cannot distinguish between the two isn't surprising since you apparently can't distinguish between the identities with which you post here.

Given that, I appreciate your visiting the Wog. You see, for every "hit" I get there, I also receive points which I can apply to the purchase of my next "Acme Troll Whacker" which will give me the ability to not only identify moronic trolls like you, it will give me the ability to pull the covers off you at night and leave you exposed as the sniveling waste of good oxygen that you really are.

Sweet dreams, Darlin. I appreciate the business.

Liar Liar

Well, Kitt, am I "a liar" because you say so or because . . . well, because I've actually lied? If you can point to any supposed lies I've perpetrated, I'd be glad to clear that up for you. Barring that, in the future your words will simply mean even less to me. (Which will be difficult to accomplish but I'll give it a shot.)

One final thing: Why in the world would someone writing in anonymity, and merely expressing his or her opinion on the internet, lie anyway? I couldn't be bothered to lie to you or anybody else here. Yet there you go and lie about me lying. Kinda weird, no?

Yes.

Over and out.
