Discussing Israel/Gaza on right-wing talk radio

I had an unexpectedly substantive discussion of the Middle East and the "Islamic threat" on "The Hugh Hewitt Show" last night.

The letters thread is now closed.

Sorry, Kitt . . .

but I still have no idea what you are talking about. Perhaps we should move on.

-- wbgonne

Sure. Keep posting. No one will notice what a liar you are. Except of course for those who already have. And then those who just came on to the issue. That would be 90% of the readers. But you and Sh**ter242 should "keep up the good work".

Winsmith

when you're reduced to making comments about the bad spelling in another's post, then you've pretty much shot your wad as far as having any kind of coherent rebuttal to the points you presumably disagree with.

Maybe that could be a law (like Godwin's Law)! How about 'Paul's Principle (tm)'?

From the few clues he has given us, Electro is in Brooklyn, NY. Possibly Lubavitcher, but who knows.

So he wouldn't be going to the California AG to complain, unless he's a hell of a venue-picker.

Wallaby is a hoot! There's so much anti-Semitism, I'm going to report you to the authorities! If they can take time out from gassing us, they'll charge you!

Yeah, Wallaby knows a lot about anti-Semitism. On the other hand, I can see the advantages of his system: Anti-semitism is anything which I don't like at this particular moment, and it exists entirely without any context to the conversation around it.

Omooex, I never, never realised how much restraint you practise. Frankly, I can't see how you do it, but I admire it.

Oh, Holly Dearest

3) Jebbie.... is there anyone you want me to beat up for you today? :)

Naw. I haven't recovered from the last time yet.

Did you really call that guy a youknowwhat?

Had I known that you were into that sort of thing, I would have dressed better and worn some dynamite "come hither" aftershave.

In this life, you have stand by every word you write... or make appropriate apology

I just hope that Israel is able to weather the storm of hypocritical and bigoted criticism long enough to finish the job in Gaza, once and for farking all. -- Lab2112

Ya know, Moosie, Wallaby has a point about hate speech in this comments section. Genocide dreams are expressed here from time to time.

But.... there is no good reason why Glenn should protect men from shame by removing their vomitus from public view.

who said about 'Wallaby': 'methinks it is just another iteration of Mr. Greenweld's favorite cut and paster.'

Realname, Satanic Jews, Billions of Bees, ElectroRobot, and several others usually uses a wierder moniker than 'Wallaby'.

If it was him/her, I would think it would be something like 'Maneating Wallaby Hash' or 'Killing Wallabies for Christ' or something like that.

If fact, there ought to be an ElectroRobot Troll Name generator (like the Palin family name generator I've seen).

I've been pretty good at sussing him/her out & this Wallaby character doesn't write like our favorite troll (IMO).

Well, shit. There goes my theory :(

@ Chris

Oh I know, I know. Which is why I haven't been commenting much, although I follow the threads, you guys are doing such a good job.

But you know, in WinSmith's case, I actually don't really think he's really a troll, I think he is just naive and parroting nonsense he has picked up elsewhere. He might actually be redeemable. So it is probably worthwhile engaging with him once in a while.

Even though he has never, not even once, returned to re-argue a single point when its, uh, inaccuracy, is pointed out.

Tuesday, January 6, 2009 12:25 PM

Glenn,

I just finished the first part of the radio show, and am beginning the second part.

Some comments so far:

1. Overall, you did a great job articulating your POV. It came across rash and honest and sensible and logical.

2. Don't mean to Monday morning quarterback, but when Hewitt states that "Hamas is a government full of extremists and Israel's government doesn't now nor has ever had extremists in its government, to my knowledge ..." - this statement is just flat out factually wrong. The American public needs to know this.

- that was a perfect opportunity to bring up the fact that Menachim Begin used to be a former Irgun terrorist when Israel was just a dream amongst zealots. Obviously, Irgun and the other groups managed to ethnically cleanse Israel in 1948 and therefore could conveniently state that they would now embrace politics and leave their terrorist ways behind (after they successfully reached their ends using terror).

- And then Begin was elected to Prime Minister of Israel and Jimmy Carter managed to convince the former thug to sign a peace agreement with Egypt.

Again, I'm not being critical, but this point sort of puts the idea that "Hamas is a terrorist group and therefore could never make peace" to rest for good. Not only have terrorists made peace in Northern Ireland and other places, Israeli terrorists have made peace when it suited them.

Just something to chew on for your next discussions. Hopefully, there are many more to come ...

For some, this is big (good!) news.

or linky @ sig

And since there's no post about it yet -

Greenwald never writes about what I want him to write about. I expected better of this place.

More equivalence BS

Under that agreement (explicitly announced by both sides in the Gaza-Israeli dispute), all "humanitarian" concerns are thrown out the window; the strongest, most cruel, most ruthless animals win the contest of physical might.

Once again, the absolutely absurd, and absolutely bullshit, canard of equivalence between the Gazans and Israelis!

For God's sake! LOOK AT A MAP! Read the slightest bit!

Ahem... case in point

Did you really call that guy a youknowwhat? -- Jebbie

Yes, and as you well know I should not have. I was overtaken by a surfeit of petulant P.O.M.E.-ness that afternoon.

Had I known that you were into that sort of thing, I would have dressed better and worn some dynamite "come hither" aftershave. -- Jebbie

Keep dreaming mon vieux.

America on board

Whenever there's killin' to be done, America is always on board. Face it, munitions are a large part of our economy. If we stop Israel from murdering children just think how many CEOs would have to forego their daily spa treatments. Just think how many $70.00 an hour bomb making techs would be put out of work. Oh, the humanity! You go get 'em, Israel! Oh, and don't forget the nukes! We sell those too!
