The real question I have is why isn't Afghanistan number 2 on the list? Seriously, they are living in the friggin stone age. We invaded that country and then forgot about it
Unfortunately, this point eluded our president. So we invaded Iraq and made any Middle East resolution impossible in the short term.
its high time that we start thinking about our own objectives in the Muslim world irrespective of Israel's agenda.
I agree entirely. I hope the new president does, too.
I think Israel is likely using WP in the same way it was used in Falluja. Three short-and-easy stories:

Argument has ensued regarding whether WP is classed as a chemical weapon or not. Regardless of how the weapon is classified, its indiscriminant use within cities--as an offensive weapon-- needs to be part of the record of what is going on in Gaza.
-50 points for that old chestnut, The Grammar Attack.
It's hard to take anything you say seriously when you can't even spell Holocaust and anti-Semitism correctly. Here's your first clue. "Semetism" and "Holacaust" are both incorrect.

That's the second poster to pull that cheap trick in two days.
Translation: I got nothin'.
That's funny, I can't take anything you say seriously and your spelling's fine.
..I realize it's difficult for we Americans--especially in the wake of World War II--to acknowledge the fact that there is no such thing as a "just" or "necessary" war.
If I believe the first does not exist but the second does, does that make me a pacifist?
They may sometimes give warnings. Its fairly obvious that they often don't, and there are legion of incidents when no warnings were given--especially in extrajudicial killings, as well as teh current action. The warnings are and always have been a PR stunt, not a policy.
Thank you very much for your concern over how I spend my time in these years of my well earned retirement.
You know, it always amuses me how some folks can complain about how or wow much or how little time someone else spends doing something while at the same time, they're doing the same thing.
Take your post for example, you spent more time writing and processing that post than I spend in a full day worrying about trolls and other miscreants who frequent this place.
Take you for example. Your post of December 30, 2008 which began:
"I must confess my mystification over how someone like Glenn Greenwald, who is so verbosely wrongheaded most of the time, continues to be given this forum in Salon to spread his exhaustively documented yet ill-informed views."
and then went on and on and on and on and on
about how wrong "Herr" Greenwald is concerning everything from soup to nuts. "Herr" Greenwald? Isn't that somewhat childish, Mr. Brown?
Why don't you get a real job and stop worrying about what Greenwald writes?
By the way, I am far from anonymous. Anyone who wants can find out who I am, where I live, and what my political views are by simply looking around a little. I've even made my picture available. How many Browns are in your phone book?
Damn, I'm posting with excessive verbosity. I better stop.
Nothing passive-agressive about you, pal. Nothing at all.
It wasn't an attack, it's just hurting my eyes.
...pushing a nuclear nation "into the sea" with crude rockets and "leftist bloggers." Y'all should be ashamed. Boxcars.
Gentlewomen and men, self-pwnage has been achieved. Carry on.
See, this is the kind of thing that really irritates me:
"America has committed nearly a trillion dollars and over 4,500 American, ostensibly to improve the lives of the people of Iraq. If we continue to give Israel 3 billion a year, it will take us 333 years to give Israel what we've sunk into Iraq in financial costs alone."
Therefore, it is ok to blockade, bomb, shell, and invade Gaza and kill Palestinian women and children.
"If you think Israel is the #1 country we are aiding right now, you're uninformed at best."
Therefore, it is ok to blockade, bomb, shell, and invade Gaza and kill Palestinian women and children.
"But Israel-hating requires one to talk about Israel in a vacuum. "
Therefore, it is ok to blockade, bomb, shell, and invade Gaza and kill Palestinian women and children.
"Thus no mention of Gaza missiles,"
Which justify the blockade, bombing, shelling, and invading Gaza, and killing Palestinian women and children.
"the Second Intifada, "
Which justifies the blockade, bombing, shelling, and invading Gaza, and killing Palestinian women and children.
"the wars on Israel in 1967"
Which justifies the blockade, bombing, shelling, and invading Gaza, and killing Palestinian women and children.
"and 1973,"
Which justifies the blockade, bombing, shelling, and invading Gaza, and killing Palestinian women and children.
"the fact Arafat was funneling PLO money to his family in France,"
Which justifies the blockade, bombing, shelling, and invading Gaza, and killing Palestinian women and children.
"our funding of Egypt, Pakistan, etc. etc."
Which justifies the blockade, bombing, shelling, and invading Gaza, and killing Palestinian women and children.
"It's just "Israel just did X!!! OMG!!" Lame."
Therefore, it is ok to blockade, bomb, shell, and invade Gaza and kill Palestinian women and children.
Glenn, thanks for posting a link to the transcript of your talk with Hewitt. I believe you did the right thing in many ways and on many levels in choosing to accept his invitation and appear on his show. I suspect that the interview and your efforts on this blog are having a measurable, positive effect on how the media presents this matter to the American public.
1) If you have time, glance at the transcript. I haven't had a chance to listen to the audio, and therefore I can't quite judge their full impact, but you have some verbal tics that show up in the written version. If you could change those habits of speech your words may have greater effect. (i.e. don't preface sound statements with multiple "You know"s or "I mean"s. Hit hard and fast and simply -- no intros are needed.)
2) Winsmith.... repeatedly referring to everyone who opposes your petty tribalism as an "Israel-hater" does not magically make your assertion true. You're up to a half-dozen instances of this mantra-like slur today alone. But, keep it up.... you need to hit a baker's dozen before we, the minions of Satan, vanish screaming into thin air.... leaving naught behind but the stench of brimstone.
3) Jebbie.... is there anyone you want me to beat up for you today? :)
