Letters to the Editor

Discussing Israel/Gaza on right-wing talk radio I had an unexpectedly substantive discussion of the Middle East and the "Islamic threat" on "The Hugh Hewitt Show" last night.
The letters thread is now closed.

"Your comment makes no sense at all! 'Israel' did not even exist when the land was expropriated. The area was a colonial 'protectorate' controlled by the British and to some extent, the French."

And England didn't exist when the Angle/Saxons took it from the Briton/Latins Your point?

  • oh Derbig

Here is the essence of Zionist Judaism: "God, who does not exist, gave us this land"

God exists to the Zionists because the Zionists are God, in fact, they are more powerful than God!

  • Courtesey of steven andresen's hint I found this:

Natural Gas Offshore natural gas finds discovered during the past three years are currently under development, and have given impetus to the plans to develop a supply network. Israel is working to develop a $400 million natural gas transmission system to supply gas to major local industries.

The Israeli government signed a contract in 2002 with a domestic supplier, which partnered with an American firm to supply 1.7 BCM natural gas annually. Regional political issues and internal bureaucratic complexities have slowed the progress on negotiations with potential second and third suppliers, from Egypt or offshore Gaza, and on the construction of an overland transmission system. However, this year, a U.S. firm has began to lay a pipeline from an offshore gas rig to the coast and tendering is in process for the construction of a 100 km underwater pipeline along the Mediterranean shore.

The Israelis are probably in a panic. They anyway have wanted to clear Gaza and claim it for themselves for sometime. Getting rid of the Arabs now becomes vital less some of the revenues would have to be shared with them. What Israelis fear more than poor Palestinians would be rich Palestinians.

  • What a strange and insecure concept of "masculinity" you cling to. -- GlennGreenwald

The most "masculine" act I ever saw happened back during the Vietnam war. A monk poured gasoline on himself and burned himself to death; thereby protesting the US dropping napalm from the sky onto women and children.

I have always wondered at the courage that man had: I look forward to death as anyone of my beliefs would, but I really, really hate pain. That monk puts to lie all the old "macho man" myths of all cultures. Well, at least in my book he did.

  • @hankest

And England didn't exist when the Angle/Saxons took it from the Briton/Latins Your point?

I really can't answer that until I know how the UN voted on giving England to the Anglo-Saxons.

And if you want to say that the Anglo-Saxon invasion and conquering of England was no more unjust or brutal that the Zionist's, why, I really couldn't disagree.

  • "We didn't build them a airport"

Great interview, Glenn hit all the right points bang on.

What I did find interesting was the first caller after the interview was over, Hugh joked "WE didn't build them a airport"..... if Hugh a Israeli or American ? .

  • "What's without qualification is the right for Israel to exist"

Why? What confers on an artificial construct like a nation state

a "right to exist". Did Yugoslavia have a right to exist? If so what happened? Did Palestine have a right to exist?

  • @ casual_observer

    Israelis deny using phosphorus

A preposterous statement by Israel. They've been using WP since the very beginning of this incursion--what are they thinking?

My guess is that they're thinking that the tactic of The Big Lie, used to such great effect by their spiritual predecessors in an earlier Reich and the present moribund US maladministration, can never fail or go wrong.

Otherwise, they'd be ferrying in international journalists and celebrity media infotainwhores in by the busload, proud to display their vaunted precision surgical military operations that only kill terrorists and annihilate their infrastructure.

Except for the occasional Merry Mixup, of course.

  • Hey Derbig Mooser

I'm wondering if Winston is going to ever answer your excellent questions about the Jewish relationship with Zionism?

I enjoy reading your posts. Keep em coming.

  • "strangely feminine"- Lotus Feet

Strangely is not a word I would associate with LF's understanding of what is perverse, deviant or in reality phobic-- that would be --strangely masculine how men with phallic missiles and suped-up humvees kill and get killed (not if they can help it).

Is it femininity that's strange or is it masculinity's curse to be fixated in an aura of ambivalent fog?

  • @London Lad

God exists to the Zionists because the Zionists are God, in fact, they are more powerful than God!

God exists to serve the Zionists, instead of the other way round.

And wow, do they panic as soon as they perceive that others will not join them in their blood lust. Look at Winsmith and Zenwicks first letters, and look at what their tune is now.

Once they find out (and you have to pound it into their heads) that you don't see wiping out Arabs as a good in itself they go completely nuts.

But none of them, not even Mr. Hollywood Cabal, has said that God wants them to do this, establish Israel and wipe out other peoples. But if that wasn't true, why would they be doing it?

  • Derbig

Thanks. It's a perspective I haven't been exposed to anywhere else.

  • Debig Moosrer

"And if you want to say that the Anglo-Saxon invasion and conquering of England was no more unjust or brutal that the Zionist's, why, I really couldn't disagree."

Oh, the Saxons (and Angles) conquest of Britannia was more brutal there's little doubt about that, those 6th century Germanic tribes could really party. But as for "just." That's sort of my point, it was no more, no less "just" than any other nation stealing land from a weaker people - which every existing nation did at sometime in the past (at least i can't think of any who haven't).

Hey, i'm American we stole this land fair and square.

  • that monk

That monk puts to lie all the old "macho man" myths of all cultures. Well, at least in my book he did.

    -- heru-ur

They showed that from beginning to end over and over again on the 30 minute news time we had back then. Now, they won't show shit or even talk about anything concrete about war and the horrors of war. It's all sterilized or spoken of in the same way as sports commentary.
