Discussing Israel/Gaza on right-wing talk radio

I had an unexpectedly substantive discussion of the Middle East and the "Islamic threat" on "The Hugh Hewitt Show" last night.

And in general, why did Republicans and the U.S. right love fascists, Mussolini, and Hitler so much?

If you actually go back to the time that the chest-beaters are talking about, it wasn't American liberals who were cheering the fascists of Europe bashing the heads in of labor and socialists and communists -- no, no, that was our domestic right wing.

Republicans and conservatives always seem to admire authoritarian rightists, especially violent ones, and back them right up until the U.S. actually declares war against them, at which time they have to play patriot again.

It's like how Southern white conservatives' deepest instincts are so often drawn toward treason, if it's not breaking away from the Union in defense of slavery or carrying out terrorist guerrilla warfare against elected black governments and upholding segregation, it's damaging the Constitution as severely as they can, except for that one Amendment they care about.

That's why I'm glad the Southern Strategy is finally over with, and now all Southern conservative whites who were going to go Republican have done so, and the Republican party so seriously got its ass whooped in this election by a liberal, non-Southern black man. And now the Republican party is a regional party of Southern revanchists who gladly give tax incentives to foreign companies while trying to kill off our remaining domestic auto industry.

It's amazing the the right wingers who so eagerly cheered Mussolini and Hitler early on always try to lecture liberals on how ruff & tuff they'd be in war against the fascists.
