  • @Jebbie

In order to fit both columns on the screen, side-by-side as they would be on a printed page makes it so that one column or the other is off the screen.

Even without that annoyance, as you originally said, so many pdf docs are in columns that require going up and down screen. That has long driven me batshit.

  • Accessibility

As a recent entry into the reading-glasses club, I'd like to mention the "Accessibility Control Panel" available in the Windows products. I like a high resolution monitor, so use large icons and fonts so I can see what the heck I'm doing. : )

  • @Billmon

Everyone posting here owes you a debt of gratitude. Thank you!

Believe me, I won't ever forget reading your blog those years ago. It was for me, as I am sure it was for many others, a great relief to find and a great encouragement to read.

  • Hugh Hewitt

Here is the link for Glenn's interview with Hewitt to anyone interested:

I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, thanks for the heads up Che Pasa.

  • About that veracity thing......

Just in case anyone here believes Mr Greenwald [...] Who recently stated I was banned , "for being a lying cunt" -- Dave Byron

Dave, Glenn Greenwald called you "a lying cunt"? You want to cite that? I'll ask you once more "Dave, did Glenn Greenwald call you "a lying cunt""? -- Derbig Mooser

I called him that, (not expecting he would go so out of his way to demonstrate it). In the prior thread DavidByron was being the ultra-Leftist, anti-Semitic drama queen that Winsmith et al. so want to see posting on Glenn's comments pages.
Just for the record, I'm not Glenn. Jebbie can attest to that fact; he knows I look nothing like Glenn. Truly. No one would ever call me Dustin Hoffman's love child. Diane Keaton's midgety younger sister, maybe. But... not Dustin's byblow.

  • david byron

"Who recently stated I was banned , "for being a lying cunt" (something which would hardly differentiate anyone from the herd of commenters here, Mr Greenwald included, it seems to me) here's a link to his old site where he discussed his first bannings."

Ironically, and comically, that's a complete lie. He never stated that. As for your links, I can't see what you hope to accomplish by directing folks to the other times you were a completely disruptive and lying nuisance. You seem intent on advertising what an incredible lying ass you are. And believe, me you've cut through the clutter.

  • Can SCOTUS over rule the OLC?

Assuming that like Bybee/Yoo come up with an outrageous opinion that the AG and POTUS go along with, how could this be overturned?

Could some citizen with standing file in a U.S. District Court and then the loser appeal to the Supremes?

Is it really that simple ? (I know it isn't really simple)

    Chief

And believe, me you've cut through the clutter.

  • Glenn...

Great work on Hewitt's show, you calmly disarmed everyone of his arguments.

  • @ NoBBy

It seems that the rule by which Glenn rates an obama pick as impressive is when that pick opposes Bush.

Well, considering the unmitigated string of disasters that Dubya has been, that would seem to be a good rule of thumb, yes....

    Cheers,

  • Ho-Kay!

Okay, I really must go to work. Thanks to all who responded to a comment of mine.

It's been nice. I don't know when I'll be able to do this again.

So long, and you all have a good night.

  • @ David Byron (while he's still here)

It is so rare to find anyone on the internet who is honest about why they ban people.

OK, the truth will out. You got banned for being an obsessive-compulsive a$$hole who wouldn't STFU like most rational people do every once in a while. Do you feel better now?

    Cheers,

  • Boo hoo

DiFi and Rockerfeller are miffed. Harman passed over. A very good sign indeed.

  • What a tangled web we weave...

I like the Panetta appointment for similar reasons. It's pretty obvious he's going in there as a political operative. He likely will do a lot of housecleaning, which requires no intelligence skills. He also will need organizational skills, which he has through his campaign work, and as White House Chief of Staff.

It's worth mentioning that Diane Feinstein wouldn't even be a senator if it had not been for Dan White. When he assassinated the mayor of San Francisco, George Moscone, Feinstein became mayor, which catapulted her to the Senate. She's been a crappy senator, and it's about time someone real challenges her.

Jay Rockefeller, of course, is a Rockefeller. Some day someone will write a history of the connections between the Rockefeller family and the Bush criminal regime. A good place to start would be Jay Rockefeller's connection by marriage to former Illinois senator Charles Percy, and Percy's connection to, of all people, Donald Rumsfeld. There was a time when Rockefeller would have been the ideal "Democratic" candidate for president, but for some strange reason he never ran.

  • Oh!, Holly

If you said it, it must be true, except you must learn to control yourself and not go around telling people that they are liars.

That is not polite and Miss Manners will kick your lovely ass.

  • Senators and their Silver Spoons

There are very few Senators that probably know -- or are even empathetic to the plights of the poor and middle income America. They are either so far removed or have never experienced what it is like to live pay check to pay check, or worse. That is why temper tantrums like Feinstein's and Rockefeller's (not to mention Mitch McConnell's tiresome tirades about the stimulus package) are so telling.

As pointed out in the past by Glenn, they increasingly are more concerned about the respect that they think they are entitled to that they fail to see that it is not the respect that they deserve. Corruption and self-adoration -- that is our Senate and everyone seems to know it but them and the media.
