It's my perspective that the use of the term "zionism" presupposes a rather elaborate meaning for it by the user.
A Definition of Zionism
Zionism, the national movement for the return of the Jewish people to their homeland and the resumption of Jewish sovereignty in the Land of Israel, advocated, from its inception, tangible as well as spiritual aims. Jews of all persuasions, left and right, religious and secular, joined to form the Zionist movement and worked together toward these goals. Disagreements led to rifts, but ultimately, the common goal of a Jewish state in its ancient homeland was attained. The term “Zionism” was coined in 1890 by Nathan Birnbaum.

On the surface this sounds fabulous. If only those "barbaric" Palestinians weren't already there ... hmmm, "what to do with them ..."
f. shadow = It's all the Palestinians fault
Bob H. = Look at Egypt + Israel is special
With time, the equation gets longer and longer until it all equals the same old shit.
or in a more general form:
Same Old Shit = Σ(x) | x = Israel-First Talking Point
Israel's response is in no way "Neocon." Neoconservatism is an American phenomenom.
A friend told me: "Daddy Bush, despite his vast array of shortcomings, showed a burst of brilliance on two separate occasions in his life: one when he described trickle-down theory as voodoo economics and another when he described "neocon" in one simple word, "Israel.""
However, in context, the reality is that this is showing all signs of being a 'quick war', by design, even if there were cameras broadcasting the effects on the ground. It may have been designed as a 'quick war' (a la Lebanon I, II, & III, hell a la 67 which was quick in one sense, but still isn't really over these 40 years later), but I bet it won't be. Wanna make a bet?
I do not believe the US and its acceptance of Afro Americans after slavery and 300 years of discrimination is a good example.
White Americans are still waging a slow Holocaust against blacks, it is called the drug war or the war against crime.
Muslims in India were being marginalized and targeted (they still are, to some degree).
I call your bullshit.
Read the material here before you argue.

Do you even read the posts?
You might consider looking at the rift within the Jewish community over this current exercise of state power in Gaza, before you label Glenn as "biased" (in the sense, one can only assume, of being somehow anti-Israeli.) Not that Glenn isn't biased about a great many things, and not that I'm necessarily defending him or his point of view here, which I'm not: he's far too hawkish for me.
What I had in mind was Alex Thurston's diary, especially this piece, complete with links to a much wider discussion than the one Glenn describes here:

Probably best to just ignore it from now on. I was asked to earlier, right after all its posts disappeared.
Thanks, Mr. Greenwald - spot on.
It's indeed, "unfair to use the Goldfarb/Peretz pathology to impugn all supporters of the Israeli attack." But it's certainly fair to use it to impugn Mr. Goldfarb, a complacent cheerleader who won't look at the terrorizing effect of his own team's actions. That is the point, and it's well put.
Okay, now whites in America are waging a slow genocide (who's in a hurry?) against blacks. Ho-kay. Now how do you feel about the Israeli attacks on Gaza? Is there a connection between the two?
Zenwick, Winsmith, what keeps you from making aliyah? ALl the Christians hate you and your Jewish brothers in Israel need your help? Why aren't you there?
A faux Zionist is a very shameful thing to be.
That must be why he shows up so much on Antiwar.com, Antiwar radio, LRC, and the American Conservative.
Yes. The play is on word weariness, or something.
It's been about a year. Welcome back.
You still sound like Arthur Silber to me.
Thanks for the links. I'm working my way through them one by one.

Seems like good advice to me. I plan to follow it.
Indeed, as one commenter corrected me, it was not a Beatles song, but rather the first of Paul McCartney's, under his then-new group Wings in 1972. Ah, for me, '72 may as well be '69 -- I am old enough to be confused about dates that far back.
But I do recall my virtual cousin Patrick Collins and I singing it together when we were all but wee.

Fine. Use whatever damn terms you want. Ignore the thrust of my message. Do whatever you like.
I know your ethic background
No one has ever had a bad thing to say about Omooex's ethics.
They are irreproachable, and it's libelous to say otherwise.
Do you have the slightest evidence he has bad ethics?
Hughes conceded that Filipino houses were burned indiscriminately for two reasons:
* as a strategy to eliminate shelters and hiding places for guerrillas
* as a deterrent
It may interest you to know that the people of FATA (the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan, which is Talibanized today) have been subject to collective punishment since the days of British colonial rule, and it continues to this day.
"FATA continues to be governed primarily through the Frontier Crimes Regulation 1901 based on the “principle of collective punishment” for crimes committed by an individual.

I disagree. I believe that African Americans are still often in poverty-stricken areas due to a very long history of slavery/segregation/discrimination.
As such, the tax revenues in those areas obviously languished and public schooling suffered. Poverty has a culture unto itself regardless of race, religion, or ethnicity. Those in poverty tend to have inferior educational opportunities, more children, drop out of school, and not pursue higher education.
Those who market and promote drugs (i.e. organized crime) tend to provide them to those who are most likely to buy them. Let's face it, the ONE industry that has had a well-documented history of doing best during recessions is the beer/alcohol industry. Those who suffer from unemployment and poverty tend to turn to quick escapes like alcohol and drugs.
It's not a government conspiracy. It's all about supply and demand - the essence of Capitalism. And unfortunately this has an adverse affect on those who reap the least in our country.
