Orwell, blinding tribalism, selective Terrorism, and Israel/Gaza

Extreme emotional and cultural identification with one side leads people to believe that X is good when done by them and evil when done to them.

In fact Greenwald is so evil

That he actually dares to think outside the box, rather be another benighted American stuck INSIDE it.

How DARE he!

Five medics killed by Israeli forces in Gaza

"January 4th, 2009 | Posted in Press Releases, Gaza Region | Edit

4th January 2008, northern Gaza: International Human Rights Activists working with Palestinian medical crews today reported that another five Palestinian medics were killed today by Israeli forces.

International Solidarity Movement activists spent the night accompanying ambulances in Gaza. They were, and will continue, working with medical personnel during the Israeli occupation forces ground invasion into northern Gaza.

β€œIn addition to the doctor and medic that the Israeli military murdered on the 31st of December, they have killed five more medics today. One was shot in Jabaliya, one in Al Sheikh Ejleen. Three have just been killed when a missile directly hit their ambulance in the Tal Hawye neighborhood in Gaza City. The medics are constantly in contact with the Red Cross for them to negotiate passage with the Israelis. The Israelis constantly refuse.” Sharon Lock (Australia) – International Solidarity Movement"

Mona, please stop moaning and please, please stop bringing the ancient quarrel between the divided sides

in what nationalists called the Six Counties and British loyalists called Norn Iorn (Northern Ireland) into a completely different picture. The vast majority of people in Ireland would have thanked you irish-americans if you'd minded your own business and not exacerbated everything from a safe distance. The Plantation of Ulster took place in the first decade of the 17th century and most of the settlers were Scots, fellow-Celts; the Famine took place in the 1840s and those who were really affected by it didn't live to see the 1850s or buzzed off to America. Some of them had to stay here and we're STILL HERE. Give over this maudlin stuff and concentrate on what's happening right now in Gaza and is being supported by YOUR government.

Ethics 101: Compare and Contrast: JSF readers, we have a quiz for you.

The moose recommends this site. Seems we both have been reading it for a long time and we recommend it.

For example, click on my sig and see if you can pass the ethics quiz.

JSF readers, we have a quiz for you.

Please explain, in your own words, what each of the writers in the following passages perceives as a "moral dilemma." Can you articulate in each case the two 'lemmas' (horns) of the dilemma as competing moral principles? What are the proposed solutions? Are they satisfactory? Can you imagine a situation in which the proposed ways of solving the dilemma would be satisfactory for you? Where and how do you draw the line?

My dear The Satanic Jews of Hollywood,

Are you working for Lyndon LaRouche?

Methinks that perhaps you are more than a little TOO Zionist to actually be one. I think you are a neo-nazi parodying Zionism for comic and racist effect.

Are you Lyndon Larouche?

If not, contact him. He will pay you big bucks to continue doing what you are doing.

Did you watch Ben Hur on PBS?

Who is Rome now?

Good Lord, Why Bother

You got your Screaming Jollywood Satanic Jew (formerly Electrolux, and after that the Howling Hewbrew Hammer Of Hatred) who is paid to run a tickertape on this site (actually, I tend to believe he is nothing but a roomful of baboons frantically thumping away at keyboards, the result being fed into some kind of word processing unit). And you got your lunatic kristian (why do these people disgrace the good name of Christ?) rockyblabola, and his belief in the Book Of Revelations (a book written by madmen for madmen). And then you have all the blind apologists in between. Unrelenting in their hatred, arrogance, and well, rascism. Think about it. And you know, if you don't support them they'll do they very best to hurt you. Anyway, thanks for the good fight Glenn. But, in the long run, thre will never ever ever be any peace with people who do not know the word compromise . . .

And for that he went to college? And law school?

From the sunny shores of Brazil he barks his endless rants about who is out to get him and who must 'dealt with' next.

I really must suggest he work that into the intro to his radio broadcasts.

Let's see, next line "And for that he gets the big bucks! Here he is, tanned and fit and ready, Ladies and Gentlemen, here he is, GLENN GREENWALD!!!"

And then Glenn starts his Monologue..."Folks, you know who we;ve really got to deal with..."

My dear The Satanic Jews of Hollywood,

"Also proclaims to have proof that Jews did 911 with help from space aliens and the Freemasons."

Space Aliens and Freemasons?

Ha! That is what the Scientologists want you to believe!

Wow, that's neat.

Did you get some cookies today? Where are your crayons?

@ SlimPickens

If the [Israeli] leader declares [a blockade which is an act of] war on a country and then hides among civilians and his own family, he is ultimately responsible for what happens.

Does that change how you view "hiding" among civilians? Are Israeli military commanders "hiding among civilians" when they go to their homes? If so, are they responsible for the deaths of their own families if Palestinian militants attack them at home?

Sunday, January 4, 2009 03:40 PM

Renegade

You're stupid.

"I should have said that large factions within Palestine celebrate the death of innocent civilians, rather than assigning it to their entire culture. Is that something you would agree with, or is it also racist to merely mention this fact?"

You already said that the sum total of your knowledge comes from having watched video footage of said events. You have no idea how prevalent they are, where they are practiced, who these people are; literally, you have no idea what those images really mean in terms of typifying them to the rest of Palestinians society. What's more, you've already admitted your knowledge was completely insufficient to form an opinion about it. And here you are, fighting tooth and nail for what is, to be generous, a totally out of your ass idea.
