Orwell, blinding tribalism, selective Terrorism, and Israel/Gaza

Extreme emotional and cultural identification with one side leads people to believe that X is good when done by them and evil when done to them.

Sure, I'll respond

They are called neoconservatives.

And someone earlier said that neoconservativism is strictly American. What a load of bull.

Neoconservatives are a large faction? Really?

And do you truly not see the difference between mass, public joyous celebration of innocent death, and an article by some jackass in the Washington Post giving BS justifications for the Iraq war?

IDF strike levels US-style Gaza school

"An Israeli air strike flattened one of Gaza's best private educational institutions, the American International School which had been targeted by Islamic militants in the past."

The "most moral army in the world" is now bombing schools! I am sure bloodthirsty Zionists will be able to justify this in some way as absolutely necessary to protect the existence of the regional nuclear superpower.

@BlackCat

Did you also visit Gaza and find the Palestinians to be sub-or-inhuman, deserving of being robbed of their land, caged and starved ?

We're sort of going around in circles here, which is getting boring. Jews in Arab countries were robbed of their land. You can argue endlessly whether Palestinians were robbed, or sold out by the Turks, or told to evacuate by the Arab League in 1948, or whatever. The bottom line is, the Israeli government has made its highest commitment to accept displaced Jews from anywhere in the world and integrate them into Israel's economic success story.

The Palestinians, on the other hand, have always had leadership that placed the destruction of Israel above all else. Keeping their people starved and jobless is what has always convinced people like you to feel sorry for them, so that's part of their basic strategy. If the Palestinians have been robbed, it is by their own leaders.

By the way, how many billions of dollars does Suha Arafat have in her Swiss bank accounts?

C'mon, just c;mon, okay?

"displaced Jews"

All those Americans in the illegal settlements are "displaced". "Displaced" Do you have any idea what that implies?

Who were the "displaced Jews" who Israel offered succor to? Israel's policy has always been to define the "Jewishness" of any particular person or group according to its convenience.

heru-ur

You've got to hand it to the Israel-First Propaganda Troll Army, they have quite cleverly used technology to "amplify the message".

Have you ever been to GIYUS.org? Give Israel Your United Support. From looking at the forum post dates, it seems like the site is dead, but it is the group/company that developed the Megaphone tool that gives the Troll Army directions. The forum appears to be dead, and the tool isn't all that active (I installed it and see others that installed it for the same reason I did, to follow the trolls, which is probably one of the reasons it seems dead), but it is quite an amazing piece of software to help amplify the propaganda. It gives you alerts and tells you what to say in the comments. It automatically votes for you in polls, if there is a pro-Israel article that can be emailed, you just click a button and it puts multiple email addresses in the field. You don't have to think, just do what the suggestion says.

Here is the most recent Alert:

http://ws.collactive.com/points/point?id=FsxDvIA4QszQ

There is one a day methinks, here is a list of alerts, they put the article in its own frame with a larger frame that tells the loyal Irael-firster what to do:

http://ws.giyus.org/points/list?group_id=1

Collative is the incorporated company that developed the commercial version of Megaphone.

Like I said, it looks somewhat dead, or maybe I need to subscribe to the relevant feeds or something, but I am curious as to what other tools the Israel-First Propaganda Troll Army uses to spread its propaganda and amplify its message on the Internet. With tools like that, it's no wonder the apologists are so well organized and deafening compared to reasonable criticism.

@sorry, forgot which one

This is nonsense. The Palestinians accepted 22% of their historical homeland back in 1988, when the PLO Declared Independence from the state of Israel. Israel turned that offer down, so it seems to me that is tendentious and factually incorrect to take the position that the Palestinians only want Israel's destruction.

In what regard did Israel turn down an "offer" from an entity sworn to destroy her? The offer was - what exactly?

Especially since Israel has yet to accept an independent Palestinian state on Israel's 1967 borders.

If the Palestinians agreed they wanted peace without the destruction of Israel, that would probably be on the table. They have not yet so agreed, and that's why the current fighting.

@zenwick

Zenwick, I'd like to make a clarification to what you stated. Because it seems you have some things confused. It's true that Israel has been accepting Jews and integrating them into the country...However, these Jews, 90% of them are of European decent. If you are talking historically, about who has "claims to the land", well that would be Semitic peoples, aka: people of Arabic decent...that includes Palestinians...but NOT the 90% of Jewish people living in Israel which are of European decent...(or to be more specific Caucasian)

Renegade Iconoclast

And do you truly not see the difference between mass, public joyous celebration of innocent death

Have you ever been to the Zionist Hagee's church?

Sunday, January 4, 2009 02:27 PM

Sounds like a mob execution

Actually, the mass murder of an entire family sounds more like something drug cartel would do to deter someone cheating on them or trying to impinge on their territory than something done by a government with any morality. But the difference between drug cartels & terrorists isn't that great, as most people forced to live near both can tell you.

@meenecat

If there was a point in there somewhere, it escaped me.

Uhm...what exactly is the argument here?

A day after wondering about what could be the reason for liberal politicians, like Pelosi and Reid, to support Israel, Mr. Greenwald enlighten our understanding of these motivations by sharing with us opinions of some sociopaths. Touchez … guilt by association … FOX news will soon consider hiring you.

How cynical is to then graciously concede that “It is certainly possible to support the Israeli offensive despite the deaths of civilians” ... though we are “CERTAINLY misguided about the likely outcome”. By the way, “Israeli offensive” sounds more balanced than “Israel’s attack” … Kudos to Mr. Greenwald.

It is easy to claim to know all the answers if you forget to share them with your readers. It is easy to be the voice of the oppressed, to gain an audience, and then write a book to profit from the pain and suffering of the oppressed …

So, Mr. Greenwald, are you a profiteer? If not, please tell us what is the likely outcome in the Middle East?
