David Gregory shows why he's the perfect replacement for Tim Russert

The new Meet the Press star conducts an "interview" with the Israeli Foreign Minister that makes the media's pre-Iraq-war behavior look adversarial by comparison

@Rob H.

"Seriously, I'll play the sound bite game now, too. If Egypt and Jordan (and the rest of the Arab world) cared so much for the Palestinian people, why didn't they make every effort to grant them independence? Why not build them into a viable nation from 1948-1967 when they controlled the West Bank and Gaza?"

But seriously, were Egypt and Jordan raining bombs against the Palestinians during 1948-1967? Even if they did not make any effort to grant them independence, did they impose a blockade?

While we all recognize Israel as a special friend of ours,some of us are dismayed by the use of military power in a disproportionate manner to satisfy the election manipulation of some Israeli politicians. They are competing as to who has the biggest balls to wipe out Hamas from the face of the earth.However, history has taught us including Israel itself that military power alone is not enough to achieve any objective. It is a false premise. It is not only creating enemies for Israel throughout the world, but also for us as the world sees American military might being used by Israel to subdue the Palestinians.

Middle East Issues

It is simply not safe for gentiles to criticize the policies of the Israeli government in any way. The best we can do is quote Jews who do so, thus protecting ourselves from the fatal charge of antisemitism. The charge itself, regardless of how false it might be, is fatal to any career without tenure, civil service, or union protection.

For a businessman, it is simply not possible to discuss Israel in any but the most servile manner.
