  • Family, Party, Partisanship

Don't know if GG will ever see this, but it occurs to me -- if I'm right, that strong party systems can overcome aristo/plutocratic systems in a democracy, this might be one factor in the Village's constant put-down of "partisanship".

  • Partisanship

You're right, doctorscience, that the Village doesn't like or support any political parties. Their true loyalty is to the incumbency party. Anyone outside of that is the enemy. They always protect the incumbent.

Well, almost always. Eliot Spitzer is an exception to the rule.

  • Not to go all Marxist on ya, Glenn

But really. It's called a class system. While we're spoonfed rag to riches, bootstraps, and immigrant shoe shiners who become CEOs, the truth is, the US has less upward mobility:

The U.S. has a smaller share of low-income workers that make it to higher income levels than any other OECD country. This contradicts the widespread belief that American workers have a much greater chance of getting ahead than do European workers.

Just Thomas Friedman's history and actions alone teach you a lot about the US c. this era.
