are you Derbig?
Indeed. Good luck getting critical mass on that one, though. If only...
It is entertainment and no one, NO ONE, cares. And that goes for-- hawkpsd
Perhaps you could explain some reason why then billions are spent every year putting out propaganda via news media if "no one, NO ONE cares"?
Yeah, I know.
But I'm of the opinion that it's still a good idea to properly insist.
I also think that it's imperative to raise public awareness of the baseline fact that TV simply isn't up to the job of doing news journalism- so that even if people do watch, at least they won't be under any illusions that they're getting anything but the sketchiest outline of news events, or history.
Unfortunately, television holds the pronounced advantage that it's able to simply spoon-feed its audience- as opposed to text forms, which involve the work of the "news consumer" actually having to read with a high level of comprehension and attention to detail.
Wow... was that humor???One last point: I do hope none of this ruins my chances of succeeding Tim Russert on Meet the Press.
Anybody else remember GG being humorous (and not "these people are idiotic" scathing sarcasm)?
Hehe, it make me laugh out loud. Glenn, they might just hire you! After all, Obama was elected. "The old order changeth, and giveth way to the new"
Glenn, keep up the fantastic work. I think part of your antagonists' problem is that your detailed and lengthy analyses actually require time, and thought, to respond to adequately. Two items which have been sorely missing these eight years, and these guys are not in the habit.
@T3 are you Derbig?
No, but he was my spiritual father until we had a spat over providing links to support one's position. After that, well, I've been forced to wander the planet, orphaned. Kinda like Kung Fu's Kwai Chang Caine.

bamage is a skilled, heath care practicing nurse?
I just found out that a Vietnam nurse author died.
Her name was:`Linda Van Devanter. We had met.
Linda sufferer. She wrote:`Home Before Morning.
I googled sad news. Poor Ray? Rest, you two vets.
Linda Van Devanter? Ya Ray? Ray, ask Linda? kiss?
Maybe sing. Float in the bay. No remain so angry.
O bris. Bris circumcisions deserve a Purple Medal.
A ceremony scar from a sliced dupe skin wounds?
If Derbig Mooser is Timothy3? `It is okay with me.
It's a different child trauma? Bris scars & war scars.
O. A booboo, and it's a old scar, and a sore wound?
I don't know if anyone's pointed out, the two arms of the vast liberal media conspiracy against conservatism. NBC and the New York Times are at war, when they usually busy themselves in elbow-asshole cooperation in spreading lies about Sarah Palin's children. How can we account for this odd state of affairs?
But the rest of the news media is a-ok. Please.
I have news for you. The commercial media's number one task is creating selfish and ignorant consumers. They do it by promoting low culture on a planetary scale and excluding educated values from the public square. It works like a charm because Americans are too lazy to open a book, like the Universe white washed and sugar coated, and enjoy having their emotions played like a three dollar banjo.
Wake up and smell the brainwashing.
MSNBC and NBC are looking like Fox defending oil companies. This is despicable. But I want all 75 generals investigated. I want their finances published. I want to know how much money they make from their pensions, from the Pentagon whether for expenses or not, from TV, from Radio, from the Web, and from defense contractors. Every goddamn dime. One blogger noted that he wished General Marshall was still alive so he could set these guys down and talk about public service. Please keep on this story.
Surely ye jest. NBC is suspect because of one bad apple? But the rest of the news media is a-ok. Please.

Why do people, such as your self, post comments that are so completely out of tune with the post they are commenting on, not to mention the history that can be read in the archives of Glenn Greenwald's blog?

Is it all right to call you: Harley Derbig Moo`Chardonay?
You drink Sam Adams frothy suds and drip tears in beer.
Bamage is direct. I wish someone was a Raggedy Merry.
People needs something to cuddle when hearing news.
David Gregory will take the reins as moderator of NBC's "Meet the Press," the Huffington Post has learned.
Well Tina Brown tried.
After he took a swipe at general wm. westmoreland, the right went after Rather relentlessly, until they finally suckered him with the fake TANG memo. I saw the crowds (of obvious agents provocateurs) at the RNC yelling "NBC, NBC", so that NBC would have an excuse to demote Olberman.
The web site for the FCC clearly mentions operating "in the public interest". The airwaves are OURS, NBC is renting the frequency. It's time that the appropriate congressional and senatorial committee chairs start getting letters.
And tom brokaw! The clown that made a career out of sucking up to the WW II generation while simultaneously spitting on their children.

and at sig....
And a great reason to never give ANY journalist a pass:
One exception was Keith Olbermann's Countdown on MNSBC (4/21/08). However, for Olbermann, McCaffrey's short-lived stint as a skeptic of Pentagon tactics seemed to be a bigger story than the fact that McCaffrey had been participating in a Pentagon propaganda program and had a financial stake in selling war equipment.
Olbermann stated:....
The headline here is not that the administration was trying to corrupt the free press. It's, A, how courageous were the likes of Barry McCaffrey, Monty Meigs and Jack Jacobs when they came on here and said, this is crack--the Pentagon misled everybody?
Surely ye jest. NBC is suspect because of one bad apple? But the rest of the news media is a-ok. Please.
Yes, this was exactly the point I was making. I was waiting for that one special person brilliant and insightful enough to spot it. I had to wait awhile, but it sure was worth it.
The rest of the news media is a-ok! And that terrible NBC has one bad apple! That's my argument, just like you said.
