I read it. -- Jebbie
I did as well. More importantly I think it is a conversation that is sorely needed. IMHO this meme that anything and everything government touches immediately turns to shist is just that - shit.
In many ways I believe this is easily one of the worst, if not the worst, aspect of the whole so-called Conservative Revolution.
Without government, we're doomed to chaos and never having the Progressive-leaning governance this country so desperately needs.
With that said, onto the new thread ...

Jebbie is a person who likes women with a 'zaftig' shaped body.
That's okay. Upbrooksjr @ 11:05 says: Grow up, glin+gerbils.
The jerboa is a long tale mouse rodent that is only three toed.
A desert-dwelling rodent has long hind-legs. It walks upright.
Lady Pedinska has a mighty tonic for the winter blues? Maybe.
Maybe P- has vegetable rice soup, home-brew, and apple pie.
I'm learning to ballet skip, walk on hands, and no say:`O God!
Gaud! O laud? No kill deer! O, why butcher babe Bambi? Whoa.
Pedinska needs a VA gown with a seamstress to poke buttons.
The baby blue gown is the compliment: `DC's VA War-Crazed.
A VA gift? I got two pair.
The DC VA Hospital doesn't sew buttons if 'um below the knee.
It's a modest VA gown.
Jebbie is a seamstress?
You sew some buttons.
Ms. Shoe's Symphony?
Actress Roseanne Barr?
O She plated She-Devil.
Is this "off-topic? okay.
Several hits there state that GE left the nuclear biz years ago. They have scaled down their energy holdings as well.
Did you see the part where I said it "was" in the nukes business and may still be? While they may not be in it nowadays up to their eyeballs, I'm guessing they still get some work for parts, components, etc. (albeit nuke production nowadays is fortunately in a lull, absent Dubya/McSame/neocon RRW work).
I'm not saying they're the "worst of the worst", but like any large conglomerate, they're hardly w/o gummint contracts, including, I'm sure, a fair number related to weapons systems.
Cheers,
My point was that GE's participation in the arms industry is not significant enough to justify shilling for the Iraq war. They seem to have not made very much money from war-related industries, and lost money during their fiscal quarter that included the Iraq invasion. They do shill, but the fact that they have ties to the arms industry doesn't seem to be the factor behind it.
Does anyone still get their news from the mainstream media??!
I generally call it the Ministry of Propaganda. It occasionally mixes a truth now and then in with all the lies, just for variety.
just fucking hang war profiteers, traitors and their ilk...can i please be allowed to waterboard dick cheney? then as should be allowed, he can take me hunting...
"Look, you need to do a better job of assessing your target audience before posting. This is not the tone or the type of information best designed to mitigate what you perceive as an attack on your client. It reads like you are just "dialing it in" by cutting & pasting a few paragraphs of pre-written, standardized boilerplate copied off one of your webpages.
I suspect he pays for something more adroit than this.
-- Holly McLachlan"
And there in lies the problem. These lazy and highly overpaid media artists lack innovation and critical thinking and when the rubber hits the road all that is left is the pushing of the default button--the "general is a patriot, what can I say?" Picking up the usual defense mechanism-it is "the liberal anti-war unpatriotic left, what can I say" to diffuse any kind of credibility. The right will then pick it up and accuse those who criticise Gen. McCaffrey as unpatriotic, anti-military left. And before we can say presto, Gen. McCaffrey is back in business testifying before Congress as an expert in all things military, writing op-ed in WallStreet Journal. And Weirner looks like a genuis.
Brian Williams gets the support of the right (a la Rush Limbaugh et al)and uses the enormous power he wields through the use of the mic to blast the so-called fringe left for assailing him and his good patriotic pal Gen.McCaffrey. And the beat goes on.
Mr. Greenwald:
1. The first sentence in the second paragraph needs "that", not "which", as does the first sentence in paragraph four.
2. When "general" is used without appending a name, then it is not capitalized. A general is not God.
3. Don't omit to point out that the conservative bent of the media shunned THE NATION's prescient & courageous article.
4. You don't need a comma between "April" & "2003" or, worse, between "April" & "2008".
5. Replace, in the fourth paragraph, "despite the fact that" with "eventhough".
6. Cut "the fact" from the first sentence in the sixth paragraph.
7. Why didn't Howard Kurtz & THE POLITICO start this clock after the article in THE NATION? The clock is more like five years & 223 days.
8. Cut both commas from the first sentence in paragraph eight.
9. Note that our web-culture permits Brian Williams to avoid addressing an issue while claiming that he has disposed of it on his seldom-read blog.
10. First sentence of paragraph ten: "have", not "has"; the "still" in the parenthesis should be after the "they", to counter the "not only", and the other "still" can be cut; not "and/or", simply "or".
11. Cut the caps in the last sentence of paragraph ten.
12. Although what N.B.C. did is disgraceful, I don't see the reason to pair Williams w/ N.B.C. as if he were equally at fault & is N.B.C.'s equal. He's a talking male model, a stooge. He defends N.B.C., because they own him, and he doesn't know any better. What is the rest of the media's excuse for rolling over for Bush-Dick for so long and for upholding such low standards?
Obama backer Lester Crown and his late father, Henry Crown, were political manipulators using vast quantities of money that amounted to proceeds from mob activity.
I've detailed this in a Dkos diary entry today, and the most dramatic point, in addition to Henry's close ties with Del Webb and Lester's admissions, under oath, that he bribed numerous Illinois legislators, is the fact that Henry, as chairman and largest General Dynamics stockholder in 1963, had a strong motive to participate in JFK's assassination.
The Warren Commission, instead of investigating Henry and his possible ties to Jack Ruby, appointed Henry's personal lawyer, Albert E. Jeffer, to the position of lead Warren Commission attorney, in charge of investigating the possibility of a conspiracy..... The press could have examined whether or not Obama had made a bargain with the devil, before the election, since all of the details are in old newspapers and books.
They didn't.
Much of the initial coverage about Fort Hood turned out to be wrong. Is there anything wrong with that?
