Glen, you should look at the run up of oil prices. The only people the media brought on were oil traders, T. Boone Pickens and others who made their money on oil. Go, ask a Realtor if it's a good time to buy a house, It's ALWAYS a fine time to buy.
Our oil supplies were running a million barrels a week surplus over the last three years--with the exceptions of about 5 weeks--two for Katrina and three for Ike. That is excess supply in both crude and refined gas. Yet, all we heard or saw on TV is how oil was short. I agree with your calls for more transparency and disclosure in journalism. Let's not limit this to just the Defense industry. There's nothing wrong with their perspective, we just deserve a true dialogue from the array of legitimate arguments.
