"Didn't the CIA boast, way back in the 1970s, that they had successfully infiltrated every major media organisation in the USA? Do you really think they wouldn't have infiltrated the FCC as well?
And twenty, thirty, forty years later, after Reagan, after ex-CIA head Bush 41, and after 8 years of his idiot son, after FAUX News and all the rest, do you really think they haven't fully infiltrated US media everywhere?

Too late, my friend. You are tarred and feathered. And Mukasey still walks the earth.

Some restraint, please.
Like a fly to a pitcher plant, or otherwise naturally selected adapted luring device. Oh well; chapeau.
I don't know what you do for a living, but I sincerely hope that it isn't something where anyone's life is dependent on your analytical capabilities.
Two cannibals are eating a clown. One says to the other:
"Does this taste funny to you?"
Thank You. I'll be here all week.
Even if we make law conform with the AFM or other standards that proscribe torture, it is always a possibility that situations will arise where intelligence officials are tempted to use techniques and tactics that are illegal. The fact that they were normally proscribed throughout the past eight years is exactly what put them on The Dark Side. Whatever the law says, the Dark Side will still exist, even if it is darker than it had been. It is ultimately up to practitioners and their superiors to see that America no longer engages in torture.
Timothy, I love you're wurk two but can you please tsop talking about the rule of law and talk more about what concerns americanms like the economy and Bill Ayers trust in the police. looser
Look, my be-night-ed "friend," the economy is what its all about. Nay say pass? You may insult me (go ahead!) all you want, but the workers in Detroit are sure to be unhappy! (and by that I mean, not happy). These unionistic anti-Americans are about to feel the truth if what I am sayin' :) (Happy Palin! Next President of the United States--minus Alaska). And what is that? Well, friend, its simply that the "son of man" (for those who read they're Bible, and if you don't. well, its two late anyway) isn't who you think it is. No, the SON OF PERDITION (okay, Barack) will lead you down willowy paths which end--dare I put it?--in perdition!!!!
Don't take my word for it, friend (and I say this elastically): you may well have your anti-(you now), but there are those of us--YES--who will avoid this pit and be translated (and I don't mean one of your newfangled languages, like Greek).
I never expected Obama to come out as any kind of progressive candidate. In some areas, possibly. But first, he presented himself as the centrist candidate. You couldn't really miss it. Then he went and identified himself with Hillary, just in case you weren't paying attention.
Finally, let's set aside any no-more-racism bullshit. That's the new Santa claus myth of the national media---throw it in the same pile as "9/11 changed everything" and wash your hands afterward.
Minorities have always had to present as---yes---cleaner and more articulate than whites to achieve the same positions as whites. The president-elect has not escaped this dictum. Regardless of how Obama might act, there is simply no way America would let a black man near the White House who has not proven himself to be sufficiently respectful of all the "values" American liberals have ceded to the Right. And he's going to have to continue to prove that over and over as long as he stays there.
Bin Laden nailed it as usual with his extremely blunt language. I disagree with the general intent of his remark, but it holds a large grain of truth. Don't expect any kind of revolution from this president. If it turns out he uses the master's tools to take apart the master's house (in which he lives), he will have to be (and will have had to have been) extremely crafty.
Ok, this made me laugh:
When the Prez realizes there really are bad guys at Gitmo
Yeah, right. That's why the highest profile prisoner they could try was OBL's chauffer. Sure. (Shaking head, here.)
When the Prez realizes it really is helpful to listen in on potential terrorists when they call their cousins incountry
Yeah, right. That's what they're listening to. Those evil-ders. All over. Bring yer own handkerchief, or kleenex if you will.
And did not Jesus say something about falling to the right and to the left of the Righteous Path? That might work too.
Sorry, it's been many decades since sunday school.
Nay say pass?
That must be Greek!
Nay say pass? That must be Greek!
Yes, thats Greek friend (or, as we say at my college, the tongue of the pagan unlearned!)
But still, it goes without saying that you're Barack(!!!) is unfit for office! Sure, he was "elected," but whats that mean in eternity?! Right! Nothing!
I'm glad to have you come around, friend.
Theres mcuh work to be done!
ehillesumI don't know what you do for a living, but I sincerely hope that it isn't something where anyone's life is dependent on your analytical capabilities.

Nicely played, F,md .... I would have resorted to something pedestrian about "false equivalencies," "makin' shit up," or "pullin' stuff out yer ass;" but then, I didn't get much sleep last night and am therefore a little cranky today. Bamage, Timothy3, and Cocktaihag also deserve props, variously, for concision and pithiness-without-pissiness in response to the current TotD.
This essay is a wonderful example of why most Americans do not trust the left to keep them safe.
I don't think there's any doubt that the last two elections prove how true your claim is.
It's invariably the case that when someone -- with no empirical data at all -- purports to speak on behalf of "most Americans" in order to claim that "most Americans" share the person's view, they are just making things up and trying to deceive -- just like you did with this statement above - see actual polling data on the question of who "most Americans trust to keep them safe" (if the last two elections aren't enough for you) here:

Finally, one of the most mystifying -- and creepiest -- things is how so many alleged adults, when they talk about politics, now talk about how badly they want "to be kept safe." It always sounds to me like a five-year-old who wakes up with a bad nightmare and crawls into their parents' bed and pleads: "Please keep my safe."
How frightened are you that you see political leaders as people who will "keep you safe"?
