  • What's a "short bus"? -- Timothy3

For a generation, the school kids of this nation have used the term as a derogatory insult to one's intelligence. I think an old Bill Cosby routine first highlighted the fact that the kids in "special class" came to school on "the short bus".

I am glad my original message was understandable. With the insane, one must be as clear as possible.

A judge had overturned the conviction of the former Norwich, Ct. substitute teacher over the episode in which the school computer in the room she was substituting in (infected with unwanted malware) displayed a stream of dirty popup windows while her students were watching. To the amazement of many, prosecutors refused to drop the charges and moved to hold a second trial. Now Amero has agreed to resolve the episode by pleading down to a single misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct, as opposed to the 40 years she could have gotten on the original charges.

While it is good to see that Ms. Amero is not going to jail, it is hard to see this as a real victory. A woman who is wholly innocent has nonetheless been forced to plead guilty to a misdemeanor and to give up her teaching license. That is not justice for someone who deserves complete exoneration.

This is nowhere near as horrible as some cases I read each week: but this one is so very obvious in its miscarriage of justice, morality, and fair play on the part of the god damn prosecutors that one wonders how "justice" could be thought of in America as anything but broken. A nation of laws my ass.

  • Heru, you faked your death on line, and I'm the one who's insane?

..complete with a eulogy from a non-existent brother. Perhaps I am projecting my 'normal habits', but that seems to be a pretty clear cut case of insanity.

By the way that was Chris Rock, not Bill Cosby.
