I would have resorted to something pedestrian about "false equivalencies," "makin' shit up," or "pullin' stuff out yer ass;" but then, I didn't get much sleep last night and am therefore a little cranky today. Bamage, Timothy3, and Cocktaihag also deserve props, variously, for concision and pithiness-without-pissiness in response to the current TotD.
